Nonono, you would be taxing commoditys and paying partially for peoples food.

Crippling the industry? Destroying jobs? You cannot tax them. The game does not allow such manoeuvres.
Paying for foods would be abominable. Firstly, the price of grain would rocket. Poorer people across the world suffer famine.
Food production does not rise as fast as the population growth.
The state would bankrupt. Everyone suffers.

Except for the capitalists, of course.

Yummy! And they can all be prepared with local ingredients.

Only if the syndicates allow it. They need to keep everyone equally thin.
After all, it all belongs to the party, right?

Hmm, is poverty the fault of the local syndicate/union or the fault of the state?

Or is it just easier to blame foreign bourgeoisie capitalists?

No, blame Lenin!

Aw, I want to see the Workers Vote naow!

I've read through all the posts (whew!) finally and am ready to contribute to the discourse on our nation's politics. I'd like to place my vote for the Marxist-Leninists, but would like to push for a plebiscite to be put before the people as a comprise between the M-Ls and the Luxemborgists. The plebiscite would be to implement the Soviet system for our industries. Overall, I think this will make the central government more responsive to factory needs to prevent such massive unemployment in the future!
For five decades now the Marxist-Leninist Party has been the Bulwark of our great nation! When the nation was young and weak, they ensured we were strong enough to withstand the Ancien Regimes. When our brothers were oppressed in neighboring nations, they brought them freedom and a voice to be heard! And so, Onward to Victory!

I second that opinion. Also, you should put your vote in bold if it's in a post with other text, or just post the name of the faction you want to vote for and nothing else in a post.

I realized after I posted that I didn't put it in bold. I'll correct it!

They weren't Marxist-Leninist back then, they were the far better Marxists (led by Karl Marx too!).
So, vote for Luxemburg instead for a much better interpretation of the ideas of Marx (not even Engels liked Lenin's ideology!).

Perhaps so, but Lenin carried on the burden of the vanguard party when Marx no longer could. Therefore it is as much his party as Marx's!

Marxist-Leninist

For some reason this very red group of well-intentioned socialists continues to be wooed by bourgeois ideals.

Freedom of the press does not empower the workers.

Freedom of religion does not empower the workers.

It is as though the Anarchists and Democrats would have us strive for American democracy rather than socialism. Even the Luxembourgists seem to think that liberal policies can be mixed with a revolutionary state. Once again I feel I must point out the position of the republic. We are not safe against the bourgeois states. They have no love for us. Not only have we upset the entire continental balance but we continue to encourage revolution across the world. If this were not the case, then perhaps we could test some liberal ideals, but we are not safe. Why should we dabble with policies that have only served to tear our republic apart?

There are 2 paths down the road of liberal appeasement. Would the Luxembourgists have us end our support of the international worker? For that is the only way to remain at peace. Without such an abandonment of our principles, war is inevitable. Lenin knows that our enemies stand on almost all our borders. Keeping an uneasy truce requires as little agitation as possible, and Lenin knows how to accomplish this while continuing to actively support workers across the globe.
