I would say that the Luxemburgists got into power based on mostly M-L second preferences with a large minority of Anarchist ones. Neither of these made peasant rights a central pillar. It is telling that not one person voted Lux/Rev or Rev/Lux (unless I missed one - in that case it was rare). Although I would prefer more rights for farmers, I think the political will will be in favour of the workers' coalition. Then again, she might appeal to the people and simply choose the coalition that gets the highest percentage of the peoples' vote. Out of interest, will the decision of who to ally with in the assembly have a defining influence on policy? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the assembly purely advisory?

I'm not sure of how the new assembly will work, but I'd say that Rosa will probably have to make concessions to whoever she allies with, i.e. promises on policy. So even if the assembly in itself has no real power, the composition of it will influence policy.

I think the political will will be in favour of the workers' coalition.

The majority of the political will of the party went to parties that were either sympathetic towards, or strongly in favour of, extending greater reforms to farmer's benefits and alleviating their hardships. By your logic, it would make greater sense for Rosa to ally with the Anarchists and Revolutionaries.

As a supporter of Revolutionaries and Anarchists (equally) I will be happy to see them in ruling coalition but I think that Luxemburgists have more in common with marxist-leninist. For Revolutionaries could be bad to be in "charge" because it is better to be in opposition for new faction. Revolutionaries needs time to learn politics, there is no need for new Independents.
As mentioned above, coalition Lux, M-L and Mods must be without Lenin. Coalition with Lenin but without his leadership is doomed because his ambitions and personality.

While that is indeed true, I was thinking more about the political will of the people who voted Rosa into power this time. It would be more in character for her policy-wise to go Peasant IMO (and indeed the personal and political relationships in a coalition containing Luxemburgists and Lenin/the Militarists would be fraught at best), but taking purely electoral concerns into account I think her base is mostly in second Worker preferences.

I'm not sure which I would really like. I suppose the grand Peasant coalition would be good if Rosa can reign in their excesses, if she doesn't agree on rolling back any social reforms and introduces the safety standards. If that can't be arranged I think a Workers' coalition would go well, as we haven't had a war for a while and I think we're recovered enough for one. Basically I think Rosa is savvy enough to make either deal work :p

I think this is a very valid point, Lenin is hardly the type to be a junior leader in a coalition, isn't he?

Lenin is very close to the age he managed to reach in our timeline; perhaps a stroke mid-election, with a lavish state funeral of course, would facilitate a grand Marxist coalition, without angering either side?

And honestly, how much of the farmer's vote do the Luxemburgists get? Would they really risk alienating the workers who vote for them by siding with Sorel?

Sorry for the late notice but due to RL factors I'm going to close the polls at 1PM (ie in 20 mins). I will then get back to you with the final results, the Assembly, the figures for the central committee (10% of the Assembly= 1 place on the CC with one or two changes to this) and finally my decision on the final political alliance.

Polls are now closed.

The new government is going to be the Marxist Bloc coalition: Marxist-Leninists, Luxemburgists, Moderates and Militarists.

The Marxist Bloc holds 53% of the Assembly and 6 out of 11 positions on the Central Committee giving it a narrow majority in the two important tiers of VSVR government.

Rosa Luxemburg is Chairman of the VSVR for the second consecutive term. She won on the second preferences with just 27.2% of votes.

Georges Sorel of the Revolutionaries becomes Speaker of the Constituent Assembly as he leads the single largest faction. This position is the second most powerful in the VSVR behind the Chairman.

In the end I decided that the pull towards their fellow Marxists would be much stronger than any desire to make peace with the peasantry. So we have a Marxist Bloc coalition. However the leadership of this coalition could be pretty frought with issues. The Marxist-Leninits have 3 seats more than the Luxemburgists in the Assembly and the same number of persons in the CC. However they also have much more support from the Moderates and Militarists than the Luxemburgists making tham, within the coalition, the stronger partner. However Rosa Luxemburg leads the coalition as Chairman.

Nobody ever said this revolution was going to be easy. :p

Ok. I don't understand what happened. Why Revolutionaries are the largest faction if they aren't the most voted?

Rosa is probably not happy that she has to include the Militarists. Lenin is out, Rosa would never allow him to hold an office in her government. This means there's a chance the Leninists and Moderates will dissolve and join the Luxemburgists in a united Marxist faction. Sorel, despite being the peasant's choice fail to gain power, and thus his support might diminish and the peasants seek a new champion. Meanwhile some more hardline Marxists might be disappointed of Rosa's dominance, and there's a chance for a Maoist faction.

Assembly is voted by the citizens.

Looks like revolutionaries took some of the citizens away from anarchism.
Well, that is the result when Marxists annihilate one party...

We are looking forward to cooperate with our comrades, luxemburgists, Moderates and Militarists.... Our victory shows the will of the people, not to be lead but to be the masters of their own fate , their own socialist fate. The Marxist Bloc coalition despite the differences among its' members has all our support!

I am still a supporter of the complete union between the marxist factions, Rosa and Vladimir can rule together, i also repeat the proposals i made before the elections since i know the comrades Lenin and Roza will take a look at them.

I propose :

1. Encourage the Farm Collectives and the Communes , give the farmers the right to vote, but make them proletarians of the Village.
2. The truth is that no matter what the people believe , church in its' entire history has played a reactionary-counter revollutionary role. Everyone is free to believe that drugs are good , but NOBODY should be encouraged to take some.
3. Central Planning for the economy , the workers should be the master of their fates.
4. RealPolitik in foreign affairs , take chances as they come
5. 75% of the seats to be choosen by the People , 25% by the Party , encourage real democracy
6. Proggress towars communist, socialism isn't enough
7. 8h/8h/8h , we are a workers' state after all...
