This Democratic factions seems very nice, hopefully they will still seem nice when they present their election platform :p

I don't want to feel like an idiot, like I have after the last two elections ^^

It'll be interesting to see the programme of the marxist factions. On a side note, pretty much all early social democratic parties were real socialists.

*sigh* there's no such thing as an "incorrect" or "correct" opinion on something so subjective... you have your opinions, and I have mine.

All of these actions (press censorship, building projects to make yourself look good, naming a faction after yourself) are pretty classic signs of someone attempting to create a cult of personality around themself. It doesn't prove he's trying to take complete power, but it made me suspicious of him, and with good reason, considering his actions after the civil war...

If anything, my fears were proven right by Lenin's military takeover, and there's no reason to be blind to the signs in his previous years in office that he would be capable and even likely to jump on a chance to take control of the government through force.

The point of my post was to demonstrate that there were reasons to be wary of Lenin even before he took control by force. Cpt. Everos had a valid point that in the aftermath of the Civil War, someone did need to step and take control of the situation, as such I was trying to point out that even before this he was making me suspicious. Then, after he took control, he of course went further than he needed to, unnecessarily imprisoning people who didn't deserve it, etc... the "good" reasons you speak of.

I still don't see how I was "incorrect" to be suspicious of Lenin's motives when he took the first chance he could to assert control through force. Wouldn't that make my suspicions correct?

I apologize I meant to say your reasons are incorrect because you have certain facts wrong. As I have previously stated to another member, the vast majority of the "Gigantomania" projects were actually quite useful. The two most superfluous projects were the statue and the amphitheater and those are hardly draining the economy or weakening the nation with their creation. One can hardly deny the use in modernizing the army, building the Kiel Canal, and creating a Hydroelectric Dam. Additionally, the faction took on the name Marxist - Leninists to reflect a change in ideology, it wasn't an action encouraged or ordered by Lenin. You stated Lenin censored the press without warning. While censoring the press is a legitimate reason to have suspicions of the man, I can't agree that he was under some moral obligation to have posted in his election platform "I might censor the press if they get rowdy, just saying."

I concur that there were reasons to be wary of Lenin and there still are.

My fault for misremembering what most of those projects were, it had been a while since I read that update.

As for the press, I see what you mean, but I still personally feel like it was overkill for him to do that.

*shudder* Dem Socs... the one thing worse than Orthodox Marxism. They'll have us back to Capitalism in a decade. This election looks rather like a Bourgeois election... having to choose between the lesser of evils.

The fact was... I didn't remember how to join groups. :p

How bout the remaining Anarchists staring an Anarchist Underground movement? And they just start blowing everything sky high like the Statue of the Revolution. Or have people blow up the Cologne Metro...

Isn't that pretty much how the anarchists have always operated?

Not legitimate Anarchists who believe in the ideal, not just use it as an excuse for violence. Ricainfer's suggestion is ridiculous and will only doom what's left of us.

The Anarchist-Militarist Left

While many anarchists would say that the Militarists are the worse half of the Leninist-Militarist alliance, I think we should take a second look at their policies. They have had a moderate stand on expanding social reforms, focusing entirely on safety, perhaps not ideal, but something we can get behind. They have always supported truly universal sufferage, and even tried to get it passed in their first coaltion with Lenin. This I think is an area where the Anarchists have a great deal in common with them. Their foreign policy has been less agressive, and their taxes and military spending a bit higher, but again these aren't glaring diffences. They still want lower and fairer taxes than Marxists (on occasion). The one great difference is on political freedoms, but since we have few as it is, we can try and resolve this error in the future.

Anarchist brothers, forget the wounds of the civil war, vote Militarist.

Are these guys social democrats(ie, like sweden) or democratic socialists? Meaning they actually support socialism and wish to some day achieve communism rather then a capitalist state with a strong welfare system?

Social Democracy as we know it today didn't really come into existence until the Thirties. It evolved from Democratic Socialism which came about from the revisionism of people like Eduard Bernstein. So the "Democrat" faction are sort of Proto-Democratic Socialists who I assume, Tommy will have gradually shift towards Democratic Socialism as the AAR progresses.

Social Democracy (ie. Sweden) wouldn't be able to exist before Democratic Socialism has been theorised.

and instead support for the Labour Party (a party that had twice been in power since its foundation in 1852)
What!? I demand an explanation!

If I do not get to vote a party that ensures freedom, then I will be voting for any party that wants to liquidate Lenin.
Look at the title of the AAR, Lenin must be brought down!

I am curious about population movements. What emigration movements are happening? Are any of our workers foolish enough to think they can find a better life in another country? Are the workers of other countries fleeing to us, or are they waiting at home for our armies to come and liberate them?
