"The world today. The Columbia Broadcasting System now presents a summary of the all the important world news today. Reports from CBS correspondents by trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific short wave radio, and the latest developments as received by the Columbia's news room here in New York. Tonight, our news report will be on the concerns facing the British situation."
"The situation in the Atlantic has turned for the worse. After failing to secure the convoy routes last year, the attrition of merchant shipping has reached disastrous levels. On estimation, the German fleet sinks roughly 94 of every 100 ships sent to Britain. This disastrous shortcoming in supplies has hit everyday people on the British mainland. Supply shortages of every time have resulted in lines that stretch for blocks on end. From meats and staple foods to tea and coffee has resulted in shortages. Disease has begun to spread from lack of medical supplies. In London alone, there is only enough painkillers for the most sever cases, those being the ones requiring amputation and surgery. Most of the morphine is sent to the frontlines where soldiers continues to put their lives at risk to keep our precious democracy safe."
"The production industry is Britain is slowly grinding to a halt. The ability to produce munitions and war material has been ground down to bare minimums. The overall capacity of the British mainland continues at about 37% of its peak production of the last year. The German's have made through with their threat to isolate Britain, as just last week an escorted battleship squadron was disected by German U-boats and ruthlessly sunk. Survivors were picked up by the following day. There were 215 survivors and it is thought that 2,500 sailors lost their lives."
Spy report for Germany. Obviously, this cannot be put in a news report. We don't want the Germans to know we have spies in their country, eh?
