You make it look like the Fidelistas actually defeated the Batista regime themselves, in reality the Cuban Revolution had a hell of a lot more to do with what went on in Havana than in the guerilla war.

An interesting question on who to align with. Contrary to what most posters here seem to be thinking, Cuba initially looked towards the Americans as a friend after the revolution (pretty much every state first turned to America and were turned away if they ended up as friends of the Soviets during the Cold War), but after the Fidelistas were labeled dirty commies they pretty much had to radicalise their programme, call themselves Communists and throw themselves at the Soviets. Out of the major figures in the Revolution Che Guevara is pretty much the only one who identified as a Communist before Cuba allied with the Soviets.

At this stage the Russians are still undisputed leaders of the worldwide Communist movement, even if Mao is clearly not willing to remain a junior partner by this stage. I kinda doubt China would have the global reach to influence anything beyond Asia at this stage even if they wanted to. But it would be interesting if Cuba joined in that ultra-radical clique of China and Albania during the 60s, could be pretty interesting and explosive.

In the end the Soviets are the sensible option, but you'd only end up as a Russian colony in the West and after the Missile Crisis there ain't much interesting for you to do. If you ally with China you could be a very interesting ultra-radical revolutionary organ in Latin America - likely meeting with greater success in encouraging the people's of Latin America to rise up.

Will be watching this. :)

I am aware, was just trying to sum it up by also including the events that are in the NWO2 mod. :) Good comment :)
