EU4 Dev Clash #11 - Baltic Elephants - Tuesdays 15:00 CET

What does those "Protected" mean?
No player is allowed to declare war on them, and can't take any land if they do end up at war with them (E.G., due to the AI responding to a call to arms from an ally).

I'm pretty sure they are Trebizond and Genoa, of which Trebizond is a vassal of Genoa, and I think that Genoa was still in the HRE, so attacking them would call in the emperor, however that shouldn't be a problem anymore
I'm on it, just completely forgot about them :p

Did the Mare Nostrum achievement get changed after the Historical Oddity dev clash? I do not remember @Bratyn holding the land required to form the Roman Empire. I thought Mare Nostrum meant forming the Roman Empire and holding all of the Mediterranean and Black sea provinces?

Just because they called it Mare Nostrum doesn't necessarily mean that it was enough for the achievement. (No idea what the achievement exactly requires.)

Probably parts of France and Britain as well.
1. Form the Roman Empire
2. Own every coastal province in the Mediterranean and Black Seas

Yellow: Provinces needed for forming Rome
Red: Provinces needed for Mare Nostrum after (re)forming the Roman Empire

Thanks for this illustration.

From what I understand, no one has done this in any Paradox Dev Clash so far.

I was playing a pseudo-Rome and I owned the entire Mediterranean, though not the Black Sea as well. As achievements can't be gotten in multiplayer anyway, and it was a a custom nation dev clash (meaning you can't form new nations anyway - those are all disabled if you're playing a custom nation), there wasn't any point in 'doing it properly' (even though certain aspects of it, such as taking France and the Black Sea coast, would have been trivial at certain points in that campaign). I consider it enough that I fulfilled the Romans' vision of a Mare Nostrum ;)
