Oh, I think von Strasser has made a bit of a mistake.
I wasn't expecting the She-wolves of the SS to show up. My compliments on incorporating every last bit of pulp awesomeness (except the Rocketeer!
) you could find into your story.
Yes, from the moment I heard about that fake Grindhouse trailer - with Nick Cage as Fu Manchu, no less! - I knew I had to incorporate it into EOFM somehow.
BTW, has anyone besides me noticed that "Commandant Hess"
(PIC linked because of symbol) wears the collar patch rank insignia of a Hauptsturmführer (Captain) or possibly even an Obersturmführer (lieutenant) while the subordinate "Lt. Boorman" (
PIC linked for the same reason) wears the rank insignia of an Obergruppenführer, or General der Waffen-SS (three-star General)?
Obersturmführer, Haupsturmführer and Obergruppenfüher rank insignia for comparation.
As for decorations, the War Merit Cross without swords is spot on for a KZ commandant - any contributions he made would be away from the front. But why does every German of any rank wear a Knights Cross?
It's a reeducation camp.
For werewolves.
Yup.
Agreed. Panicked shriek or not, I feel confident Duhrn will show to be much more powerful than the weretarts...
Duhrn is still human enough that he can be frightened. At the very least, they will hurt him quite a bit, nothing compared to the High Priest's torture off course, but one gets out of habit quickly with such things, methinks.
But on the other hand, what if werewolf bites count as enchanted weapons?
Point the first: (...about M-1 carbine)
Point the second: (...about M-1 Garand Rifle)
Indeed, the Reich has bought the license for the M-1 Garand rifle, not the carbine. All this confusion stems from the German usage of the word "Karabiner" for their WW2 service rifle, which made me use the word erroneously for the M-1 too, but it was always the rifle this was about.
So the new Wehrmacht service rifle are M-1 Garands rechambered for 7,92mmx51 Mauser rounds. They call it Gewehr M40.
Point the third:
What happens when a werewolf gets hit by the Cane of Kithai?
Either it melts - or nothing happens and the cane wielder is eaten. We'll have to see which if Duhrn ever decides to use it on a werewolf.
I'd actually expect the Garand's higher muzzle velocity to provide better accuracy than the Kar98k, but I'm not sure how the wider 7.72mm bullet would affect that...
Either way, I can't imagine the German infantyman will be terribly pleased with adding an extra kilo or two to their rifle's weight...
Indeed, you could expect that. I read somewhere that the Mauser rifle was more accurate though, can't find a source or a reason for it now though. Maybe its because of a heavier bullet, conserving energy better? Or faster spin? No idea either way. Is the higher speed because of a longer barrel or because of a lighter bullet or heavier propellant charge?
As for the weight, the Landsers will hate it when on march but love it when facing the Asian Hordes (TM). The Heer quartermasters will loathe it with burning frenzy because it will drastically increase the ammunition consumption of rifle troops.
Well that was certainly unexpected. I'm a little disappointed in Duhrn for letting himself get caught off guard like that; after all he's done and been through you'd think he'd have learned a little better. But I guess arrogance can account for that.
The Lupine Krupp sisters must be pretty horrific looking if they make Duhrn scream.
His powers might be going to his head. But even so, being jumped by two werewolfs is nobody's idea of fun, not even Duhrn's-
I suspect that was more of a "startled" scream than a horrified scream.
As in "AAAH I am falling down the stairs," not "AAAH I am seeing something man ought not wot of"
Duhrn may be a mighty sorceror who has done and dared what no sane man could imagine doing and daring, but I bet he's still got a startle reflex like anybody else.
Quite right.
Wouldn't having a bunch of Polish werewolves be a bit dangerous? How can they be kept loyal, and not out to seek revenge?
(2) The Polish women are test subjects for the proof of concept. They're doing this only until they figure out how to make the injections less likely to kill their victims. Once they can do that, they will create an ethnic-German werewolf unit. Note that the only two "successfully treated volunteers" we see are of unquestioned German heritage.
THIS. The Poles were guinea pigs for trying out the screening blood tests and Lupogenine drug. Not even von Strasser could have gotten away experimenting on citizens of the Reich.
Stunning production values, Yogi! You've really created a unique subgenre with the Fu Manchu series. A third installment in HoI3, I take it?
Thanks, TheHyphenated1! Yes, that is indeed the plan - "Twillight of Fu Manchu" for HoI3.
o
Yikes!!! That was definitely the scariest update so far that did not involve caves, million-year-old monstrosities unfit for human compehension or fantastic realities beyond reach of the waking mind.
Duhrn is a scary as hell maniac but I wouldn't want him to fall victim to this insane werewolf pair.
Do Hess and von Strasser even know what kind of things the sorcerer has been though? I guess they figure him a simple mentalist and halfway successful alchemist. But even if they are not going to overcome him, it is obvious they did manage to surprise him.
Duhrn doesn't by chance have six elder siblings, does he?
It all depends on how vulnerable Duhrn is to werewolf bites. It might either heal next to instantly or possibly kill him on the spot. Duhrn is an only son, AFAIK (Right cthulhu?).
That thought crossed my mind. Last thing we need now is Dhurn as a Werewolf/Sorcerer. He wouldn't need Skorzeny any more.
But than again if he didn't snap during that torture sesion in that High Priest's lair, I doubt he will now.
Snap, no. Die, perhaps. We'll see.
Great update.
Poor werewolfs, I think they got too much to eat.
I wonder what would happen with a bit they had actually swallowed, which then tries to reattach itself to Duhrn... could be interesting to watch!
Werewolfs you say?
Bah, let just speed conjure some twisted nightmares from the Nether while raising a shield to hold them of and to hold the nightmares at bay.
There are no such things as speed conjuring nor shields!
Even the Black Hand spell takes a few moments to read the incantation. And I doubt Duhrn will get that...
Duhrn may be super tough because of the magic but I don't think he has super speed or strength. He'll probably be torn up and captured for "research".
Torn up at least sound very likely. Only question is how persistent the damage will be.
