The Undiscovered Country. The "honorable" Klingons wanted to fight the Federation to the death rather than accept a "dishonorable" peace treaty.
The guy was a traitor that joined a conspiracy to kill his own Chancelor, and you call him Honorable?
The guy was simply displeased a the "time at peace" effect that had accumulated on Pacifism.

Can we start a new thread about whether warrior cultures are fanatical purifiers or vice versa, despite the game allowing both simultaneously and therefore allowing those people to roleplay that particular type of empire if they want to (or not)?

Would very much prefer my notifications for this thread to be about upcoming features and tweaks...

Point is, "honor" can be used to justify any kind of atrocity, including treason or the slaughter of innocents.

But yeah, we need a new thread for this discussion.

What if, instead of forcing honour concepts on the player, the player is instead given choices to make their own interpretation?
I suggest that the Warrior Culture civic also unlocks an "Honour Code" policy which grants various bonuses at the cost of limiting other options
Options could include things like
  • Victory (empire-wide happiness bonus when a war is won, empire-wide happiness malus when a war is lost)
  • Holmgang (further increases army damage, while limiting orbital bombardment)
  • Flower Wars (Undesirables are always set to forced labour, forced labour also produces unity)
  • Firepower (bonuses to fleet combat, increased war exhaustion from space battles)
That way it'll be possible to expand on both gameplay and roleplay aspects of the civic.
There is a different thread for this discussion. See here:
