Here's the 14.0.1 bugfix patch. You'll find the patch notes in the spoiler. 14.0.0 saves might work, but might also be side-effecty; if you choose to risk it, make sure that you mention that that is the case when reporting any issues you might have encountered.

Beta 14.0.1 - 29/01/2024
--------------------------------------

IMPORTANT: Tianxia has now been rebased off of CleanSlate; CleanSlate 1.0 Beta 6.1 [EZKM] (https://github.com/ck2plus/CleanSlate/releases/tag/1.0-beta6.1) MUST be active for Tianxia to run.
IMPORTANT: Any old Tianxia.mod file MUST be replaced with the new one; the new version contains important changes, such as actually setting up CleanSlate as a dependency.
IMPORTANT: Delete any old Tianxia directory; don't just overwrite it with the new one.
IMPORTANT: Pre-14.0.0 saves will not work, 14.0.0 saves are likely to experience some oddities; starting a new game would be advisable.
IMPORTANT: Random/Shattered world and the EU4 Converter are not supported.
IMPORTANT: Start dates after 1127.4.20 remain unsupported; it's possible to start in them, but they're not expected to be in a good spot, and are not a priority to fix.

# History
- Historical characters with higher tier scar traits should now get proper scars.
- Shotoku's council is no longer fully depowered, meaning she won't pretty much immediately block internal vassal wars.
- Fixed Honorius' death reason.
- Fixed Minamoto Yoshitomo's death reason.
- Fixes to a couple of Cham rulers.
- Added nicknames for a bunch of historical rulers (and some other characters).
- Some date and trait tweaks to historical characters, because Paradox didn't necessarily care. Lots of weirdness remains, of course, because vanilla has a lot of questionable history...
- Historical characters in need of an armour stretcher should now look the part.
- Historical Romans now know to use "Hilarius" rather than "Hilary".
- With the sole exception of Herakleios there are no longer any characters awarded the "Crusader" trait ahead of the start of the First Crusade, unlike what vanilla thinks is reasonable.
- While the Childrens' Crusade was a thing, various historical characters that have nothing to do with that incident no longer gain the "Crusader" trait on birth. Again, vanilla being silly...
- Historical Saio/Saiin are now referred to as such.
- Improved the traits of Queen Sundeok.
- Kublai now becomes a Poet partway through his life.
- Fixed a couple of add_lover effects outside effect blocks.
- Disinherited historical characters in Japan no longer gain/lose the Bastard trait alongside the Disinherited trait.

# Religions and religion features
- Lowered Shinto Intrigue boost to +2 (was +3).
- Lowered Koshin Diplomacy boost to +2 (was +3).
- The unique Bimoist feature is now actually unique to them, as opposed to being both valid and highly rated for everyone.
- Unreformed Tengri and Jurchen pagans now have Defensive Attrition, seeing as there's no good reason for them not to have it.
- Unreformed Aztec and Yupaychaspa pagans now ignore Defensive Attrition.
- Hellenics now remember that the name "Alexander" (and its cultural variants) is a perfectly valid name; a great name, some might even say!

# Decisions
- It is now possible to Sway your rel head if they're non-Theocratic.
- It is no longer possible to falsely claim to belong to your liege's faith by decision if your liege doesn't care about religion, thus somewhat lowering the chance of SRSes where they don't make sense.
- It is no longer possible to ask to swap a child to the Heritage focus if their educator doesn't share your culture and religion.
- It is no longer possible to ask to swap a child to the Faith focus if their educator doesn't share your religion.
- It is no longer possible to ask to swap a child to the Heritage focus if you shouldn't care, e.g. if only the religion is mismatched and you're a nomad. Proud characters are excepted as far as both religion and culture goes, Zealous as far as religion goes.
- It is no longer possible to ask to swap a child to the Faith focus if you shouldn't care, e.g. if you're a nomad. Zealous characters are the exception
- Vassals can no longer offer to become tributaries of China. Sorry, Shimazu; you'll have to figure out a better trick with Ryukyu!
- Incapable, inaccessible, and/or imprisoned characters can no longer start composing books.
- The decision to mourn previously unmourned ancestors is now a high priority decision.
- The lower percentage plot fabrication decisions are no longer available if the higher percentage ones can be taken, seeing as there's absolutely no reason to take the worse one.
- Imperial Guard regiments can now only be raised if your realm size is greater or equal to 50.
- Raising a second Imperial Guard regiment now requires a realm size of 100 or more, and each regiment beyond the second requires another 100 realm size.
- WotRS members can now advance past the rank of Novice without proving themselves to a mentor, though only if ten years have passed since they joined the society.
- Player WotRS members of Samurai/Onna-bugeisha rank or above can now properly offer to mentor WotRS Novices; the blocker now correctly prevents the AI from offering to mentor the player, as opposed to preventing the player from targeting the AI.
- The FotK power to switch to Japanese Monastic Feudal is now properly allowed for Japanese Feudal player characters.
- The FotK power to switch to Japanese Monastic Feudal is now properly disallowed for Japanese Monastic Feudal player characters.
- It is no longer possible to ask your liege for a title while your liege is at war, bringing the decision in line with the AI pulse event.
- Made the AI less eager to found and refound Imperial Guard regiments.
- Increased the cost of founding, refounding, and retaking control of Imperial Guard regiments.

- It is no longer possible to request a Chinese artefact if the EoC can't grant you any additional ones at his current MoH rating.
- Fixed an issue where eunuch tributes might not be properly snipped or properly shipped off to China.
- Descriptions for many Grace interactions no longer overflow and no longer claim characters that aren't disinherited will be disinherited.
- Tributaries of CI realms may no longer break free by decision unless their suzerain has a sub-Average MoH rating; this helps ensure Song doesn't break the Treaty of Chanyuan very early, and helps Liao a bit.
- Made the AI more eager to go Japanese Feudal at higher tiers, hopefully making Japan more likely to slide towards a more feudal setup.

# Graphics and interface
- The "In mourning" trait icon should now be visible, as opposed to being invisible.
- Fixed Shinto/etc. dynasty CoA misalignment, at least partially.
- Hopefully fixed all black holding pictures.

# Cultures
- Tanguts now use tangutgfx if the "Tianxia Jade Dragon Portraits Expansion" ("Tianxia: Chinese, Khmer, & Tibetan Portraits" in the launcher) or another source of tangutgfx portraits is active. Note that the aforementioned graphical submod has been updated after 14.0.0's release, fixing an issue where all adult tangutgfx women looked positively ancient.
- Corrected spelling of Tsuhime; was "Tsuhgime", which of course can't be proper as it can't be spelled out in Hiragana!
- Sakahito and Sadatojo are no longer considered female Yamato names.
- Atlantean culture now has random = no.

- MoH rebels that end up with very small realms will no longer see fit to claim the Mandate of Heaven.
- Wars to Maintain the Permanent Regency no longer end on the death of the Permanent Regent.
- The AI will now execute peasant/etc. revolt leaders if they defeat the revolt, thus removing some characters that are unlikely to add anything but a performance drain.
- The Chinese and Japanese Reconquest CBs should now only be visible on independent targets that are not your top liege.
- Winning an Imperial Claimant faction war now partially empowers the council and shifts the vassal war laws one step in the vassals' favour unless the faction leader becomes the new Tenno.
- The Grand Chancellor can now use the Chinese Subjugation CB regardless of their tier if fully empowered.
- Vassals can now use the Chinese Subjugation CB regardless of their tier if the interest group is fully empowered.

- The War of Honor CB should now be visible as expected, as opposed to always being invisible.
- The Rising Sun Subjugation CB should now be visible as expected, as opposed to always being invisible.
- The Ryukyuan Subjugation CB should now be visible as expected, as opposed to always being invisible.
- Optimised some things.
- Hid several CBs for people that won't be eligible for them without e.g. conversion.
- County-tier adventurer conquests no longer give the conqueror a nickname, seeing as it's not particularly impressive.

# Traits
- The following traits are no longer possible to select in the Ruler Designer: Son/Daughter of Heaven, Former Son/Daughter of Heaven, Incapable according to regent.
- The following traits are no longer randomly handed out: Son/Daughter of Heaven, Former Son/Daughter of Heaven
- The Kitsune trait can now be selected in the Ruler Designer.
- The various non-Tribal Kinslayer traits are no longer removed on becoming tribal. They will instead be converted to Tribal Kinslayer on_startup, which should help ensure that some historical Kinslayers' deeds aren't forgotten about.

# Bloodlines
- Confucius' bloodline now allows for faster conversion to Confucianism.

# Laws and succession voting
- Attempted to fix Japanese and Chinese characters randomly deciding that women maybe should inherit.
- Each Regency Power law enacted in favour of the Permanent Regent now enacts one Council Power law in favour of the Council if the "same number" Council Power law is in the liege's favour, meaning that the liege starts out less powerful if the Permanent Regency ends.
- Fixed CleanSlate-derived bug where you weren't allowed to switch *to* Primogeniture if your liege can grant viceroyalties and you aren't a viceroy; as per the comment, the effect now is that non-Muslim viceroys *can* switch *to* primogeniture even if they wouldn't be allowed to if not a viceroy.
- Dai culture now unlocks access to Ultimogeniture (if not blocked for some reason, e.g. due to government type).
- Minahasan culture electors no longer care about the candidate's gender.

# Nicknames

# Ambitions
- The "Become Immortal" ambition now cancels if you stop being a Taoist.
- The "Acquire Title" Ambition should now actually complete if the liege gives you a title through the relevant event, as opposed to being impossible to complete.
- It is now possible to retain the "Groom an Heir" Ambition after passing certain practical age thresholds if you have a living child.
- Celibate children now count for "Groom an Heir"; the trait isn't an inheritance blocker!

# Factions
- The AI will now be more eager to start Create Permanent Regency and Proclaim Shogunate factions if their liege has depowered the council, in whole or in part, though only if there isn't a Permanent Regency going on.
- Various bureaucrats are now more fond of increasing council power.
- Many faction-related instances of is_primary_holder_title have been replaced with is_primary_holder_title_tier; it changes vanilla, but it's odd not to be able to press your rightful claims on secondary titles just because your liege is a duke.
- Members of Jimmu's bloodline are now more likely to start Shogunate factions.
- Members of Hachimantaro's bloodline are now more likely to start Shogunate factions.

# Focuses
- All (adult) Focuses are now invalid for prisoners, seeing as leaving the Seduction focus available means the AI frequently goes "I am a prisoner, so I should pick Seduction!" and then goes on a Seduction rampage if freed. It changes vanilla, but vanilla's implementation is insane.

# Event modifiers
- Maidservant Lover and Bodyguard Lover modifiers are now only visible for the character that seduced them, as opposed to being visible to everyone, including possibly spouses.
- Religious trading communities now have a better icon.

- can_have_japanese_monastic_feudal_trigger now works, as opposed to potentially evaluating to "yes" when it shouldn't.
- Mourning should now be available when expected.

- Peasant Leaders are no longer permitted to join the WotRS; they are lowly people, even compared to merchants!
- Set up nickname "coolness" for various new nicknames.

# Scripted effects
- The MoH rating now suffers more from the presence of the Black Death than the presence of some lesser disease.

- Improved on the MoH calculation, making it scale better with realm health and simultaneously fixing some issues where it might go very crazy.

- Very small CI realms have now been told to just die already (read: Will get severe penalties to their MoH rating due to their realm size).
- Fixes to some parts of the JD character creation that needs a character scope to work.

- Special considerations towards the Tenno, the Ryukyuan knockoff, and various PRs and the dynasty members thereof should no longer come into play in irrelevant places.

# Minor titles
- Remover duplicate revoke_trigger block for the GC minor title.

# On actions
- Courtiers that get a new host for reasons other than imprisonment will now join their new host in seclusion if their new host is in seclusion. Fixes an issue where e.g. new spouses might get diseases because they married someone in seclusion and got stuck wandering a diseased province... but of course means that diseased courtiers joining someone in seclusion might cause interesting things to happen.

# Execution
- Adjusted the availability of a few options.

# Events
- Chinese Princesses that are abroad should now lose the marriage blocker if abroad on the update (e.g. on_yearly_pulse for the EoC), meaning that inviting them to your court as a foreigner actually might be beneficial.

- The farrier's apprentice/carpenter's daughter event should no longer hand out the Homosexual trait when the other child is of the opposite sex.
- The attractive peasant/courtier event now hands out orientation traits correctly, as opposed to going "You're the same sex as yourself, so the attractive person must have the same sex!" and handing out the Homosexual trait accordingly.

- The WotRS will now only tell you to duel your rivals to the death if you're both part of the WotRS.

- Improved conditions for event 30004.
- "The Messenger" should now be someone that would consider ROOT compatible, not just someone ROOT considers compatible.
- Various DWs no longer outsource the very prestigious role of "The Messenger" to members of random societies; the relevant event now restricts the possible existing member to a society member based on the flag ROOT has, rather than ruling out specific DW societies (but not *other* societies) if ROOT doesn't have a matching flag.

- Fixed missing quotation mark in the desc for event 100203.
- The loc for 100231 has been updated, getting rid of "church" and incorrect pluralisation of Japanese titles.
- Lunatics no longer confuse Glitterhoof with themselves when considering armour for the former; they're not *that* crazy!
- DWs should now only use the Tears of Demeter and the Blood of Jahi if they have reason to call their drugs of choice either.
- DW orgies no longer speak of "The Great Serpent".
- DW grandmasters no longer speak of serving "The True Lord".
- The tooltips in event 61216 are now less weird.
- RoI.180 now tells you where the kung fu monks show up, as opposed to speaking of a non-specific "the province".
- Fixed "Shinto" in FotK currency gain.
- The FotK and the Bön MO no longer speak of "Dharmic Wisdom".
- ZE.12110 no longer speaks of "alms", and potentially does not speak of a "temple" either.
- Event 1004 option B no longer speaks of "Heaven", seeing as it can fire anywhere.
- Oriya kings are now titled Gajapati, Oriya queens Gajapatni.
- Fixed some issues related to the loc regarding JD Chinese characters spawning due to a bloodline.
- RIP.11550 no longer speaks of pickled boar's heads; that's not something that makes sense in quite a few places.
- Added some missing event loc for new WotRS events.
- Execution and Banishment votes no longer have broken loc.
- There should no longer be angry red text when publicly adopting a safe secret religion by decision.
- The History of the Northern Dynasties now has the proper name.
- Fixed several issues with Ancestor Worship loc.
- Fixed an issue with Hanami poetry contest loc.
- Fixed "the wisdom of [blank]" in various MO events for FotK (and Bön MO) members.
- Fixed an issue where new EoCs/pretenders didn't know the name of their own dynasty.
- Women should now seek to become exalted among women.
- Most minor titles now use "Mistress" instead of "Master" when held by women.
- There's now an "a" in the "Becaome a Japanese Bureaucracy" decision.
- has_dharmic_or_reformed_trigger corrected to has_dharmic_religion_trigger.
- Certain DW events should no longer speak of e.g. "My brother and brother in darkness".
- Spymasters no longer get murdered as a consequence of discovering a plot in "All realm provinces".
- DW events no longer explicitly reference Hell, seeing as that's possibly very weird in places.
- SR sympathy evokers no longer unnecessarily capitalize "Pagan".
- Event 75004 no longer speaks of "the Church" or "the [Religion] Church", seeing as it isn't restricted to Christian characters and as e.g. "the Sunni Church" is nonsensical.
- Fixed "Root.GetSpymasterName]" (lacking an opening square bracket) in a tooltip.
- Fixed two instances where the Marshal council position wasn't properly localised in an event.
- You should now curse the infidels less if you don't particularly care about the outcome of a crusade, e.g. when the defender wasn't from your religion group.
- Characters with a trait that's got "pilgrimage = yes" now have slightly different explanation for what they might be doing, seeing as that shows up on non-pilgrimages too (e.g. Permanent Regencies and TF voyages).
- Unfaithful spouses should hopefully no longer confuse themselves with the spouse they're cheating on.
- Characters should hopefully no longer confuse their lovers' spouses with their lovers.
- Swaying events (and possibly other events) should no longer speak of "the landscape of <capital>, and particularly around <capital>".
- Improved some loc strings to no longer read e.g. "fellow Taoist Eastern"; they will now read "fellow <religion>".
- Hanami shirabyoshi are now referred to with their full names rather than their "best names", avoiding unnecessary mentions of their "the Shirabyoshi" nickname.
- You should no longer be told of the Bones of the First Pope when receiving a JD or Tianxia T5 artefact from an artefact hunt.
- "Magnificent" is now properly spelled, fixing several instances of the mod being "literally unplayable".
- Silk Road religion spread now has the correct religion in the loc.
- Other minor loc tweaks.

There will be a dev diary about the upcoming 14.1.0 update posted soonish; likely within a few hours of this post.

Finally got that event still no free county. It's nice to see other characters mourning and the other bugfixes

Unfortunate timing, as it looks like an easy fix (the county is being transferred in the wrong scope, probably due to a copy-paste error) but isn't a serious enough issue to warrant a hotfix. It's on the list for 14.1.0, however.

Horse -> Goat would be in the correct order, and there is always two successive years with the same element before the element switches, so it could be correct, though without knowing which year it was it's impossible to say if it actually was correct.
Am Chinese, can confirm it is correct. Horse is seventh and Goat is eighth in the zodiac. Since there are twelve zodiacal animals, it's always the odd animal sharing the element with the next even animal.

Dev diary 79 - 14.1.0 plans

Now that the 14.0.1 bugfix patch is out, work will soon -- likely early next week, as some other things will be taking up much of this week for me -- begin on the 14.1.0 update. As mentioned in the previous dev diary, this will be a smaller update than 14.0.0 -- even discounting the "Rewriting the entire Tianxia code base" thing that happened in 14.0.0 -- and a rather more focused update overall, which should allow for something new to be released more frequently than in the past; you shouldn't expect monthly releases or something like that, but unless something goes very wrong there should be multiple non-bugfix releases this year.

14.1.0 -- code named "Journeys" -- has the actual working title of "Alchemist".

The main feature in 14.1.0 will be a new society focusing on Chinese alchemy. This society will require MNM to access, and will be available for Taoists, replacing access to the Hermetics, which always has been a bit odd; the Hermetics have some elements that are in the general neighbourhood of what a "Chinese learning society" might be expected to have, but those elements are still quite "off", and some other things are just not fitting at all (e.g. searching for "Antediluvian texts").

Rather than just being a re-flavouring of the Hermetics, this society will be unique (or at least mostly so; there might be a little overlap in places...), and while the exact society flavour events and powers aren't fully set in stone at this point it will allow for a variety of approaches to the whole matter of Chinese alchemy. Want to use your knowledge of alchemy to brew medicines, create aphrodisiacs, or increase the fertility of those that ask for your aid? Those will be options. Want to create immortality pills for yourself or someone else? Also an option, though even with supernatural events turned on it won't necessarily work out. Want to make easy money off of gullible fools by selling the latest snake oil? This is the society for that. Want to put dangerous quantities of various ingredients you know damn well aren't healthy to begin with in the pills you give to your liege? Go right ahead, but hope he doesn't figure out why he is getting worse... or maybe have a convenient scapegoat on hand.

Other than the above society, a few of the things you can expect to see:

- A review/"facelift" of various Reaper's Due things; for example, the AI is utterly terrible at building hospitals as things stand even when they have plenty of money, which will be looked at.

- Some history additions/changes; reviewing of some of the Japanese clans not looked at as part of 14.0.0, and possibly changes elsewhere.

- Some Taoist flavouring outside the society; specifics yet to be determined (some things have been discussed internally, but we haven't made firm decisions), and ideas would certainly be welcome.

I don't currently have a timeframe for the next dev diary, but dev diaries should in general be a bit more frequent moving forward than they have been over the last couple of years since the features to be worked on will have a greater likelihood of rising to the "Might actually be interesting to share" level than a bunch of optimisation tweaks and code rewrites.

Okay; there's not really a pattern there, and I can't really check on a bunch of those since I can tell they're not scripted characters, e.g. there's no "Jarl Asbjörn of Finland" (for any spelling of the name) at any date.

However, I can tell that something has to be weird on your end, seeing as all versions of "Asbjörn" are in CleanSlate's 00_north_germanic.txt (or vanilla's 00_cultures.txt, but that file is not relevant), which we do not have an override for. I can also not see anything wrong with the encoding of the Altaic names on my end.
Hmm

Here's the 14.0.1 bugfix patch. You'll find the patch notes in the spoiler. 14.0.0 saves might work, but might also be side-effecty; if you choose to risk it, make sure that you mention that that is the case when reporting any issues you might have encountered.
Did the Content Pack get any update? I have the one from 14.0.0

What does flavouring mean

Also,
  • Troops in c_makaw are slightly displaced and on the border of neighboring county c_gyalthang
  • c_gyalthang is localized as Gyaithang, l vs i
  • In 14.0.0 does the lunatic trait prevent the mourning decision? I didn't see one when my first character died
  • In 14.0.0 my all-loyalist council though it was tyranny to imprison someone I had evidence doing something
  • What does "literally unplayable" mean

More general question but does anyone know how to create a bigger treasury interface or a mod (that works) and does that

If you got that one that was uploaded in the first post of the thread on December 31 (give or take a day depending on your time zone), it is the same.

I get it now

Your timing was very good, and I figured that answer was a bit more suitable than "No comment" or literally not commenting on it.

What does flavouring mean

In this context, adding unique events and maybe decisions -- flavour, as opposed to pure numerical or mechanical changes -- to something (in this case Taoists) to make playing them feel more distinctive and ideally also a bit more accurate (there are limits to what can be achieved in that regard).

Will look into the first two. Mourning was broken in 14.0.0 (one of the conditions effectively said "Never allowed"), as was part of council voting (some of the logic meant to protect the Tenno and a few others -- where certainly councillors most definitely should tell you off when you are taking some hostile acts even if they are Loyalists -- was considered active where it shouldn't be), but those should be fixed in 14.0.1.

"Literally unplayable" is an old joke in various gaming communities -- such as the wider PDS forums -- arising from certain people seizing on to even tiny and largely harmless bugs -- such as typos -- and claiming that they make the game "literally unplayable". As such, it's a bit of a tradition to claim that you've fixed issues making things "literally unplayable" when fixing typos.

  • Crafting a new incense burner artifact
  • Zhengyi Dao trait gives bonus to taoist hermetic society because the description says it focuses on alchemy and talismans
  • Create talisman/charm decisions for temporary health, more gold, or plot defense?
  • Exorcism/removing possession?
  • Necronomicon eldritch pills
  • Chinese zodiac and element versions of the astrology traits
  • Decision to meditate (use designated regent) gives bonus taoist hermetic society points

c_garze (the county above the other county) also has a similar issue with troop position

Thanks; at least some of those might be viable.

I'll take a look, but it might be intentional: there's more to unit positioning than "Be in the middle of the province".

Neither is a historical/pre-scripted character (I can tell from the IDs), which means it's not a history error, and if it's a character somehow flipping to noreligion then a charid and a name is not enough information to even attempt to troublesoot.

Is necronomicon eldrith pill one of the viable ideas :)
I don't know how related to taoism these are but more artifacts are incense clock, sky lantern (or a special unit?), and the seismometer with the frog? statues

I didn't think about it for Gyaithang but I did think about it for Garze
But I still think a small adjustment to troops in Garze will make the position less confusing or if it's placed closer to the town/building location

Both changed to "noreligion"
What other information should I look for
More characters

Also is this working properly
A lny event the silver dragon appeared and killed a courtier? But the dragon was never introduced before it
The event just said it wasn't looking for me but someone else
The event chain also showed the message about the courtier being killed before the dragon coming to kill the courtier

Also the pretender EoC empire after being the official one I think switched its name three times (Wei to Jin to Ming)

Localization issue with Tianxia, the Jewish councilor events keep telling me they have connections in Europe to even the far lands of Cathay... even though I'm a ruler in Cathay
I think the event can instead say the message in reverse
It's also calling China Cathay

I also think the event for learning Chinese leadership traits only applies to Han culture specifically and none of the other chinese groups
Also I don't think there's an option for an eastern religion scepter artifact if you aren't playing buddhist

Is there a reason Chinese Imperial doesn't allow matrilineal marriages?

I also think it's funny the new emperor was actually a member of the mandate defilers
But he was also possessed, one of the previous was a eunuch, and the heir to the original line was a lunatic

Anything that connects the characters other than being noreligion and not being scripted characters would potentially useful.

Might be something off there if the events fire in the wrong order. Did they fire on the same day, and were you the host or a fellow guest?

Also the pretender EoC empire after being the official one I think switched its name three times (Wei to Jin to Ming)

Did the ruling dynasty change three times, starting with it becoming official? If so, it's WAD.

Would seem to need an update, yes, though reversing it doesn't sound like a great fix.

It's also calling China Cathay

I don't think we'll be hunting down and eliminating references to Cathay.

I also think the event for learning Chinese leadership traits only applies to Han culture specifically and none of the other chinese groups

I'll have a look at the conditions for the relevant events.

Also I don't think there's an option for an eastern religion scepter artifact if you aren't playing buddhist

WAD; just as in vanilla, not every artefact category is easily obtainable by everyone. If there are specific examples of famous/important sceptres to add, we might consider them, but we'll not add sceptres to the Eastern religions "just because", and there's not a ton of historical justification to add them for all the Eastern religions (and if any get them, they need to lose another piece of their current crown jewel set since three pieces is the standard there).

Is there a reason Chinese Imperial doesn't allow matrilineal marriages?

Crippling AI stupidity in the form of happily matri-marrying its male relatives to Minangkabau rulers when Buddhist, primarily, though China not being able to benefit from it much if Imperial Marriages are active and it being pretty ahistorical for Chinese-style realms -- it being and very gamey to snipe Chinese heirs that way -- are lesser additional reasons. Switching to any non-Agnatic gender law unlocks it, so the player can easily get around the restriction if they rule a CI realm.

I also think it's funny the new emperor was actually a member of the mandate defilers

You were the Chosen One! You were meant to destroy the Dragon Throne, not rule from it!

Which year was that? Because that does not look right at all, and could be wrong on both ends...

I think it's related to the fountain of youth/age reduction

The new/old year zodiac/element calculations cannot in any way be affected by that.

I still don't like how the fountain of youth mechanic works because it also moves your birth year

Not sure how viable that'd be to change, and it's not particularly related to Tianxia's scope.

Two shoguns have won their shogunate war without gaining the Empire of Japan. Also, the Imperial House has somehow lost Takamikura.

Both sound buggy. However, the former has been tested several times and found working, so I'm not quite sure how it would have broken (particularly without recent changes to the CB or ultimatum...), and without knowing the details of how the Chrysanthemum Throne passed to another dynasty it's not particularly feasible to look for what is broken there.

Why does the chinese emperor lose almost all county titles after succession in 14.0.1? I don't know if it happens on purpose or not, and can't find anything about it in this huge thread

Why does the chinese emperor lose almost all county titles after succession in 14.0.1? I don't know if it happens on purpose or not, and can't find anything about it in this huge thread

I don't believe anything has been changed with how the EoC manages his demesne in 14.0.1, and the only change relevant to succession there would be making sure that the Chinese mourning stuff actually can fire. However, as mentioned in the 14.0.0 patch notes, there is a maintenance event forcing AI CI rulers to get rid of demesne counties in some circumstances because without it the AI sometimes goes insane -- seemingly due to something hardcoded, because it happens even if its council is fully on board with it handing out titles or if its council has no say in the matter -- and flatly refuses to hand out any of them even far above their demesne, which potentially results in a massive penalty to various things, pissed off vassals, and a generally terrible situation for everyone.

That's weird, considering it happens to me. I tried the 867 Tang and 1066 Song starts; when my emperor character dies in the former, I only keep Chang'an and Luoyang, and in the latter, I only keep Baoding, even losing my capital Bianjing (though I tried a few more times before writing this post, and I actually kept it as capital almost every time, while still losing everything else). When I look at the county Realm screen, the succession is Elective and the only heir is my son, but when the current emperor dies, the counties appear as Gavelkind on the Succession screen.

Considering the error keeps happening even after taking all other mods other than CleanSlate and Tianxia core (which were only UI mods and from the content pack anyway), my browser probably did some funky stuff while downloading the files and corrupted them, so I'm going to redownload the mod.

Anything that connects the characters other than being noreligion and not being scripted characters would potentially useful.
I don't know how much I'll find but I'll check
I think half of them died in a dungeon

The second overthrow the previous empire had a lot more, but he also had a weird looking grand chancellor bloodline

Okay; it's probably just the target resolving their part before you can resolve your part, then, which is comparatively straightforward to fix.

I think it did
The dynasty didn't change three times on the same day but it did within a few years

Did the empire rename itself thrice on the same day? That would not be WAD... and I can't really see how it would happen.

He also didn't have the heirloom seal of the realm
Nor did the overthrown eoc
The lunatic heir of the overthrown eoc actually had it

Can't say if odd or not; the Heirloom Seal of the Realm should be usurped alongside China, but it could in theory have ended up in the wrong hands for completely different reasons.

But I think he had a good mandate of heaven rating lol

Not really strange; it takes quite some time for it to change unless the CI ruler is e.g. losing major wars, and being a DW is not immediately crippling (even if it's a mark against you).

Metal Rat was 820

That would be correct. Strange that it'd roll "Rooster" for it in the other one, however.

The first overthrow the previous empire was left one county
The second overthrow the previous empire had a lot more, but he also had a weird looking grand chancellor bloodline

You seem to be missing a screenshot.

Also what is the Lotus Throne

In a Tianxia context? A hopefully plausible-sounding somewhat pretentious base name for a CI empire.
In a non-Tianxia context? The seat of the Lotus Emperor, honoured servant of -- and eventual sacrifice to -- the Faceless God... which I don't think I was consciously thinking of when coming up with the name for Tianxia.

Is there also a way to customize my realm colour

Not outside title modding.
