Tried to diablerie some dude named Bela Rusenko "Herald of Kupala" and he mesmerized me which killed me. Problem is, i diableried my way up to fourth gen already, but he still dominated me(he is 7 gen btw).

Is it ok?

V5 got rid of the "generation allows or disallows Dominate" rule. We use that stance for ease of use (players not familiar with the setting would have an hard time understanding such tiny details).

You probably didn't have any disciplines with mind control resistance? Mostly Fortitude, I think. If you don't have the right disciplines to counter those of a diablerie target, things will not go well.

From what I have observed your primary skills are also important (except martial it seems) for what you can do and resist. A 4th gen with only 10 in all stats will fail at almost anything against higher generations with better stats. (Looking at you, Alexander!)

Diablerie's calculations and duels are mostly obfuscated to the player right now. This is something that will change in the next update, where you will be able to see the numbers in more details.

Not a big splat stuff like Inquisitors (that would be unwise with Royal Court on the horizon which will be already be a lot of work to adapt) but many small and not so small improvements. Dev Diaries should be dropping soon enough.

Who needs Gargoyles and such stuff when you got Wraiths!

Hi everyone, Sparc being busy with IRL stuff, I will be your host for dev diaries this time around.

So the next update doesn't add a new splat, like the Inquisition, but instead focus on miscellaneous quality of life changes and a big push to help alleviate the hefty learning curve of the mod (and the WoD universe itself). So it is sort of a big bag of various improvements and additions not necessarily related to one another.

Let's start with an addition :

Following Elysium replacing Feasts in the previous update, Survey Capital is a new activity replacing Hunts in this one.

First, "replacing" is not exactly true, hunts are still available to religions with the sanctity of nature tenet, representing that a minority of vampires are indeed quite fond of killing Gaia's little creatures.

In contrast to the Elysium, Survey Capital is more focused on your domain itself, and less on characters. The opportunities you will have depend on which buildings you have built in your capital.

It also somewhat helps a "tall" style of gameplay, since one of the potential rewards is an increasing modifier allowing you to find new opportunities for influence in the capital.

It has some other subtleties (the initial choice you have to make regarding the size of your escort can lead to complications). It's a smaller event chain than Elysium though (as is hunt for feast in vanilla). But it should help people that especially likes to invest heavily into their domain.

As with the hunts, it's also a potent stress relief if this is something you need in a pinch.

This is really good to hear. I've been playing CK since CK2 released, I have a reasonable familiarity with the lore of WoD, but for some reason every time I try to play PoD I just don't know what I'm doing at all. The various features I run across seem to sort of make sense, but it just never seems to come together for me. Which is a shame, because the mod looks great. Very excited to hear that tackling the learning curve is a focus of the team. :)

It's never an easy thing to work with, since most modders vastly prefer working on new features than writing localization for game concepts, introductions and stuff like that. Still, I think the mod is in a good place and is really let down by its barrier of entry, so I've been quite focused on those (the additions won't solve all issues regarding the learning curve obviously, but I'm confident they will help). More details on the next dev diary.

Are Possession gonna get nerfed in the next release?

Bug report: If you herd someone, turns them into wraiths and enable auto-feeding and you forget to stop auto-feeding before you kill them/they get killed in battle, it will never end.

It will be harder to pull of, but not as nerfed as I would have liked to. I got a lot of pushback against it by our patrons who think that it's already quite hard to do, and that it shouldn't be made even harder on account of a min max tactic (there will always be exploits in a mod, or even game, of this size, which is an argument that I can understand, even if I want to curb the worst of them still).

Hard? You just use the Great Persons to possess each other and use vicissitude to boost their prowess. If you want another knight with 100 prowess, the only prerequisite is really a mortal with 15 prowess because a wraith with 100 prowess gives 75 base to the victim and the Wraith trait gives +5 and then the potency modifier.

Don't get me wrong, I've been having an absolute blast going full pokémon on POD and blowing inquisition doomstacks to smithereens with just 235 soldiers but it also got me a bit worried at how easy it was. Wouldn't it make sense for the possessing wraith to be consumed/destroyed when it moves into a new host? That way you can still achieve the personal monster stats but also prevent a host of wraiths making some of the most powerful vampires look like toddlers with sticks. I had one wraith with 100 prowess and berserker who killed 3 gangrel methuselahs in one battle in various gory ways (Enkidu was strangled with his own intestines!)

The Blood Heal personal decision does not remove the Infected Wound character modifier if you do get it. This means that the only way to remove it is to left the wounds heal 'naturally'.

This issue should be gone in the next update. Vampire healing has been made more consistent (more for the AI, but the player also gets some minor improvements from the changes).
