And here's a look at the population tab. Please bear in mind that all of this is still in an early development stage and there's placeholder art, non-final numbers and all that.

Under the new planetary management system, the pops of Machine Empires will be organized quite differently and have different needs from those of their former organic masters...
Very interesting. There appears to be quite a few different jobs out there now.
I wonder if being able to move pops around between jobs is going to be a click and drag thing anymore.
Perhaps it'll take time for pops to change between professions.
After all if pops could easily change between professions than unemployment isn't as big a deal as we would think.
Speculation: The AI or you can rank your jobs per planet (or per sector or maybe even for your entire empire).
Pops then grow (get built) into the highest ranked job available.
There would then be a gradual phase where pops transition between the different job/strata types.
You could probably make it so pops have an easier time transitioning between jobs within a strata than between strata's to represent class mobility (Egalitarians could get a bonus to class mobility)
an interesting example would be if you take over a planet that had a bunch of slaves, but slavery is illegal in your empire so all those former slaves are now unemployed and need time to transition to other professions. Depending on your empires class mobility and educational opportunities, this could take a while or be really fast.
In theory this system would be a lot easier on the AI and thus make the late game much more computer friendly
I also wonder if Robot pops will have the ability to push organic pops out of their jobs to unemployment status(causing them to slowly transition to other jobs/strata)
