Chapter 570
During the chaos in China, the Chinese state of Ming had taken advantage of the confusion by attacking Yue and Qin. The Republic granted military access to Ming so they could help whittle down the enemy numbers aiding the Nuova Italian forces in the region. Ming had, at one point, joined the coalition but their ruler wisely left to take advantage of the chaos that ensued. The situation in Iberia was dire with Castile practically fully occupied. Soon, the Republic would see how her European enemies would deploy against her. A new Doge was then elected as another Qin fort fell to Nuova Italian forces.
The war was certainly going in favor of the Republic in both China and the New World. Castile was suffering the brunt of the enemy forces and she was expected to fall soon. However, the coalition was turning her focus on the New World soon now that Castile was knocked out of the war. A French navy, consisting of eight heavy ship and twenty light ship along with many transports, had been spotted around La Plata. French La Plata was fully occupied at this point and the forces there were redeployed to French Peru. When Castile was completely occupied, the Castillian ships fled to Nuova Italian ports to take shelter while they were in exile.
The Castillian ruler tried to escape his nation but he was eventually captured and forced to sign a fairly generous peace deal. Castile would pay reparation and some ducats which was considered too light by the European nations but Khmer was the war leader so they had no choice but accept the reality. At this point, the Republic had concluded her battles in Asia with all hostile nations fully occupied and their forces annihilated. Now, it was a matter of where Nuova Italian forces would be engaging their enemies from halfway across the world. Traveling by land wasn't really plausible.
What was left of the coalition forces in the New World were dispatched at once but the Nuova Italian forces there had to remain alert and put down the rebellions that were happening fairly frequently. With all of hostile territory occupied in the New World, the new Great Doge, as a result of the birth of the Great Republic, could finally dictate the peace deals with his enemies who proved to be less threatening than most expected them to be. Khmer, as the war leader, would be the main negotiator for the coalition so the peace deal was discussed and signed in the Khmer capital.
