Hello Stellaris Community!

We’re finally back, with another Stellaris: Console Edition Development Diary. We’re gearing up for the next scheduled update for Stellaris: Console Edition, these changes are closer than you might think. The changes we’re talking about today are all included in the free patch or included as a part of previously released content.

Edict Capacity

One of the major changes you’ll find in the next version of Stellaris: Console Edition is the changes to edicts, and a new mechanic called Edict Capacity. Edicts are meant to be a way for your empire to focus on certain issues without necessarily taking a permanent stance on them.

To this end, Edict Capacity has been added, with certain Edicts having their duration made permanent, and a cost (usually influence) attached to enabling and disabling them. By default, an empire will start with an Edict Capacity of 2, and can be modified by things like Authority, Civics and Ascension Perks.

Not all edicts will use Edict Capacity, just the Edicts that last until canceled.

New Systems

Since the AI is more proactive in hunting down hostile space fauna, we’ve found we’ve been encountering these alien lifeforms much less. We wanted to reinvigorate the galaxy with more alien life, and allow them to continue existing for a longer period of time. Another new feature included in the next free update is new space fauna systems.

We’ve added two new space fauna home systems - Tiyana Vek (Tiyanki) and Almor Alveo (Space Amoeba). These new systems spawn new fleets, and will occasionally send out fleets, or embark on a mass migration to seek a new home.

We’ve also added resolutions to the Galactic Community to pass into law the protection or extermination of these space creatures.

Habitat Tiers

The next update will also introduce multiple tiers of habitats. These will be accessible to anyone with the Utopia expansion. Lower tier habitats now occur earlier in the tech tree, cost fewer alloys, but as a trade-off are also now size 4.

Size 6 and Size 8 Habitats can be researched via later technologies. Habitats have also been updated to preserve special resource deposits.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading, don’t forget to watch for Stellaris: Console Edition at PDXCON! And join the Official Stellaris Discord to participate in the Stellaris Virtual LAN Party from May 21st to 23rd!

I don't think so, that would give us 4 dlcs in the expansion pass which would break the current formula of 3 per pass, which means that the next pass would have to include 2, if we catch up with LC when they get their next DLC.
There is no reason why they would need to break their formula, Ancient Relics, Federations, and Necroids in the next one, then nemesis in the one after that.
