This Hivemind gained an evolutionary advantage from stealing other organisms' genetic material.
-Every Xeno pop purged and every Xeno army killed has a small chance to create a new template of the main hivemind's species with one pop. This Template's traits will be a combination of the Xeno's traits and the main species' traits.
-Starts with the gene tailoring technology
-Gains +1 trait pick and +1 trait point at the start of the game

I'm not sure I'd impliment it that way, but this is a wonderful RP style trait.

Neat, sounds a bit like a variant of Xenocompatible but more worthwhile.

I'd suggest that the new templates be technically illegal -- too many points & picks -- and that you CANNOT genemod your regular pops into the special ones, and you can't Assemble them, but you can grow more special ones organically.

I'd add on, if you kill an enemy admiral or general in combat, there is a chance that leader will show up with with the hive mind trait in your recruitment pool.

Genestealers do recruit forcibly recruit others to the hive to serve their needs after all.
