Good stuff, although I am left rather worried, as it looks like the Empire is about to suffer something new and very, very dangerous; a reasonably competent ruler actually wishing for peaceful growth! I fear what the future will bring following such a strange path.

A solid job of peacekeeping :).

Just one thing I'm not sure was intended: "la tranquila" is the female form of "el tranquilo" (adjectives have gender in Spanish)... Not that it would be an unthinkable nickname for a peaceful ruler. But still.

Stupid Google Translate. I'm gonna have to edit that.

Who said anything about growth? How many provinces, aside from those who rebeled against my vassals and were reconquered, do you think the empire grew with during those 5 years?

Note what I typed; 'peaceful growth'. In otherwords the population, economy etc. growing. Not a growth in the size of the realm, as that is rarely achieved by peaceful means, unless of course someone volunteers to become your vassal. I had thought that would be quite clear but obviously not.

Wait, the hunchback gets a coronation and I don't!? Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

EDIT: And he's deflowering my granddaughter?! Just wait till you get up here - I'm going to have words for you!

He's showing more diplomatic effectiveness than the previous ones :). I expect there will be several peaceful annexations in the next chapter (they kept coming for Nicholas and he was an unstable, duressing leper, after all).

Watch those "happy vassal" notices, I've seen them coincide with rebellious vassals who run amok as soon as the "I'm so happy" phase is over.

Bugger. Missed that. In retrospect, it was pretty clear. I guess that's what you get when typing while tired.

Oh really? I'd like to see you do that, you english good for nothing!

All hail Emperor Juan!

(I'm I the only one who thinks he sounds like a porn star?)

I'm not sure if I should feel offended or disturbed by that.

:D

I'll be sure to watch out. But everyone looks happy at the moment.

The marriage duty offered to you must have been astronomical, your gold increased by over 4,500 in the space of a few months! Either your wife really, really enjoys your 65 year old hunchbacked ways and thus persauded her family to part with the sum (this would give considerable credence to Iain thinking Emperor Juan sounds like a porn star), or her family were simply desperate to get rid of her. I have to wonder why if the latter.

Anyway good stuff, and clearly it is due to Juan's charm, good looks and sexual prowess that such duty was received!

Or the threat of invasion by the largest Christian power in the world?

Not to be a spoil-sport, but I'm pretty sure the 'marriage duty' is not raised by the bride's family (which would be a dowry), but its actually a special tax that the monarch was allowed to raise on the occasion of a royal wedding, kind of like calling the Estates-General (I believe it was a provision of the Magna Carta in England, but I'm unable to confirm it). That's why it applies both to the King's marriage, and that of his eldest daughter. So in this case, Juan got a windfall because he has so many vassals who each got hit with a small payment.

Yep, that's so.

Which is not to say that he couldn't have got it the other way:D.

Pah - I stand by my mega porn star theory.

;)

I don't know how to say this, but...

My CK Crashed! I had to reinstall everything because of a CTD every time I tried doing anything! All there's left is the dynasty file!

I'm so terribly sorry! I didn't mean to! *breaks down and sobs*

A crash.

So the saves are gone? All of 'em?

I can't find them. I managed to recover the dynasty file, which I had moved prior to the happening, but I can't find anything else at the moment. I've been frantically searching for the last 45 minutes.

Is it possible for you to start over? Make all this a fancifull daydream of a hunch back?

That really is a kick in the teeth. I don't understand though, is the save Cornelius sent to you not still available? If so, can you not just begin once more from there? Very vexing making such a restart of this section, but I would really like to see this continue.

I'm just as disappointed as you. I really don't get it. Sure, it crashes if I've played for 3 hours straight, but not like this. I couldn't start it. I tried moving the save file to another oc and tried it there. No response. I could try again now that I've reinstalled the game, but I need to locate it again.
