Liberate Vietnam and use their troops to invade the USA :D

Indochina was a good move. Nice to see the navy finally participate in a campaign even if the contribution was small, it bodes well for the growth of the glorious peoples navy!:D

The march south continues as well.

On November 11, the CMC completed its development of advanced mountaineering equipment, which would be distributed to the PLA as soon as possible (however, Chinese bureaucracy means that "as soon as possible" means not for a long time. They still haven't gotten all of the improved mountaineering equipment distributed yet). The funds freed up by the completion of that project were diverted to the China North Industries Group so they could develop an advanced computing machine.

On the 29th the Shanghai Highway System was completed, better linking the city with its neighbors.

ScreenSave553.jpg

2 days later, a similar project in Beijing was completed.

ScreenSave555.jpg

A further 2 days later, the East China Railway opened, improving transportation up and down the coast.

As of the 5th of December, 1943, the generals in Indochina continued to report that no enemy soldiers had been sighted, even as the campaign was coming to its conclusion.

During this time, more transportation improvements came on line.

After the Soviet Naval Mission had completed a method for improving the firepower efficiency of the PLAN, it became apparent that in the unlikely event that war with Japan should erupt, Chinese shipping lanes would be easily destroyed. To solve this problem, the Soviet Naval Mission was instructed to study the tactics used to combat the German wolfpacks.

By January 1, only one province of Indochina remained under French control.

ScreenSave565.jpg

Once it was taken, Indochina was declared to be liberated, and Chairman Mao's earlier promise of independence to the Indochinese people was fulfilled.

With China's goal in the war completed, efforts were made to make peace, but they were denied by the capitalist oppressors of the people. However, as far as the Chinese were concerned, the war was over, for the time being at least.

ScreenSave568.jpg

Silly French, rejecting your peace offer. What are they going to do?

Congrats on your Indochina campaign...another nice little puppet for you.

Seriously, Ho Chi Minh should be the leader of Indochina. He's an experienced guerrilla at this point, having embraced Communism since WWI, being an advisor to the Chinese Communist PLA since 1938, and led the Viet Minh forces against foreign occupation since 1941.

Pol Pot wasn't even a Communist yet and was only 19 years old.

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. But that's who the game put in charge, and I can't change it now (because I'm several years ahead of this update).

War is Peace: Part 1

On January 10, 1944, PLA commanders completed development of a movement speed offensive doctrine. The CMC then put forward a proposal to motorize at least some of the PLA's cavalry. They were given funding to develop this project.

One day later, the Ship Product Design Branch finished with the Korean blueprints for an Improved Air Carrier. Their next project, an advanced version of an air carrier, would be the first truly Chinese design.

ScreenSave570.jpg

On February 2, the South Manchuria Railway opened.

ScreenSave571.jpg

Further improvements to roads and railways were completed on February 4.

ScreenSave572.jpg

On the 29th of February (I sure hope 1944 was a leap year...), a new PLA headquarters was established in Saigon, for the better defense of the Indochinese people from the forces of Capitalism and Fascism.

ScreenSave573.jpg

On March 9, the Shipbuilding Industry Management Bureau finished developing an advanced Light Cruiser. However, the naval strategists from the Soviet Naval Mission had suggested that a smaller type of ship could be needed. Therefore, blueprints for Japanese destroyers were immediately imported from Korea.

On the 23rd, the Indochinese gained their first non-colonial military since the French colonization in 1887.

ScreenSave575.jpg

6 days later, the Soviet Naval Mission completed their development of a way to protect Chinese shipping lanes. They then began theoretical work on how to best create a naval doctrine revolving around aircraft carriers.

The Koreans were more than happy to help.
