In my Kaiserreich games CSA usually loses, because most of their divisions were militia. But maybe this will turn out different. :)

The Second American Civil war pt 2
The West coast of the United States would also throw their lot into the fighting. It was rumored that Howard Hughes and several important Politicians and Businessmen met in Hollywood and decided that to stay in the Union and fight Long and Reed would only hurt their states. Simultaneously the States of California, Oregon and Washington declared home rule and the Pacific States of America were born.

The economy of the west coast had long been spared the poverty of the great depression through business connections with the Japanese empire. They feared that the conflict within the US would destroy the stable economy they had spent most of the 1930s establishing.

When Reed and Long both declared their independence from the US many States soon followed with them.

What happened to New England?

Canada annexed it. The US government figured they rather have the canadians own New England than let Reed take it.

Really? In most of mine they win then get eaten by canada because most of their divisions are militia and when they ask for new england the canadians choose the 'Reed be Damned' option and war ensues. On a seperate topic, has anyone been able to avert civil war as USA? It seems that no matter what, once Macarthur comes in its guaranteed.

If Canadians stay out, CSA has a good chance of winning... or even if they just manage to hold out long enough to bring their strong IC to use. One has to remember that their militia that comes through events is of '43 model, and thereby hardly inferior to '36 infantry. AUS can only win if it manages to grab vast swathes of land early on, for they have too low IC to fight a long war succesfully.

The Austro-Hungarian Civil war

The Austro-Hungarian empire has always been a troubled nation, with so many ethnic groups comprising this empire it seemed almost inevitable that Civil war would break out.
HoI22008-12-0613-13-53-23.jpg

The two most powerful ethnic groups the Austrians and Hungarians were supposedly equal and above the other ethnic groups. They were "equal" but just not quite equal. This stemmed from the fact that the monarchy since the inception of the empire has remained purely Austrian. Hardly any efforts had ever been made to intermarry with Hungarian nobility and this had always been a subject of anger among the Hungarians.

Otto Von Habsburg

1937 was the year the negotiations to reform the treaty of Union took place. By this time the nation hardly was unified, the Hungarians were pursuing their own interests and the Czechs and Croats had gained a great deal of autonomy since the Weltkrieg ended. The emperor Otto was a young man of just 19 years and was not at all prepared for what would take place. At the Palace in Vienna the Hungarian Delegation stated their demand for full independence from the Empire.

The Austrians were of course astonished at such a blatant demand. The meeting soon devolved into the Austrians threatening open war and the Hungarians completely unrepentant. The Hungarian delegation returned to Budapest and informed Admiral Miklós Horthy of the Austrian threat of war. So Admiral Horthy began to quickly rally the Hungarian Army for the coming storm and the generals of Austria did likewise.

With the two main ethnic groups poised to grind each other to dust in a long war the lesser ethnic groups chose sides. The Croats sided with the Hungarians while the Bosnian's through their lot in with Austria. The Czechs by this time almost an independent nation, politically supported Austria but refused to fight Hungary and the Austrians now stretched for resources and troops were forced to let this slight pass.

The first move of the war came when the Austrian army stormed into Zagreb and put an immediate end to Croatia's support of Hungary, while at the same time taking the Hungarian city of Gyor leaving a path to Budapest wide open.

The Hungarians quickly responded by striking south to Zenica and seizing Hollabrunn just 12 miles north of Vienna.
HoI22008-12-0613-22-30-25.jpg

Poland at this time had taken the opportunity to seize Galicia which had long been made into an Austrian duchy. They then symbolically declared war on Austrian in a show of support for the forces of Admiral Horthy.

Though the opening stages of the war were rapid it wasn't long before the lines of battle began to stabilize.

are you planning to attack hungary?

Once the Belgrade pact kicks in. Before that, he may be able to release Transylvania and maybe even get a piece of Debrecen if hes good.

The Congress of Belgrade
On the 23rd of May 1937 the Serbian government and diplomats from Greece, Germany, Turkey and Horia Sima of Romania met in Belgrade to discuss the future of the Balkan Peninsula. It was primarily a meeting of the 3 smaller states with the great powers of Germany and Turkey simply observing.
HoI22008-12-0613-33-12-71.jpg

The issues discussed early on were those of trade tariffs and Custom's treaty's, but the congress reached its summit when Horia Sima stepped up to the podium clad in his dark Green Iron Guard Uniform in stark contrast to the Civil Attire of a diplomat.

Horia Sima

When he spoke the room became quiet. He began by speaking of the conditions the people of Greece, Romania and Serbia suffered through in the Weltkrieg. The loss of territory, the unfair treaty's and the loss of national pride. Then he quickly turned to angrily accusing Bulgaria as the root of the problem's the nations had suffered. He openly called for the destruction of Bulgaria and for the 3 nations to take back what was stolen from them. When he was finished the delegations from Greece and Serbia rose up in applause to Sima's speech, while the Ottomans were agape with horror and the Germans maintained their cool decisive manner.

The next day the Kingdom of Greece, the Republic of Serbia and the Legionary State of Romania formally signed an alliance and stamped out their claims to territory within Bulgaria.

The Ottomans made their decision to stay neutral in the coming storm while the Germans in a surprise move announced their support of the objectives of the Belgrade Pact.

Quite ambitious claims there.

Ambitious, yes. Usefull, hell yeah. He should get at least 8 IC once the war is over. The hardest part will be to get past the mountains and it's all downside from then for the Bulgarians.

Escalation

With the new claims set and the treaties signed it was not long before the first action of hostility was taken. The nation of Albania ruled by the inept King Zog was attacked by Greek border garrisons in the early morning of May 27th. Although the Albanian state was technically a "protectorate" of the Ottoman Empire, the Sultan refused Zog's cries for aid when the Greeks invaded.
HoI22008-12-0613-34-52-00.jpg

The Albanians never stood a chance. The Greek army rolled into Tirana and forced the exile of Zog. Vlore went to the Greeks While Tirana Was given to Serbia allowing that nation much needed access to a Seaport for trade.

The State of the World
Re-arming is progressing steadily with several new divisions undergoing intense training along with new heavy artillery brigades to pound enemy positions to dust.
HoI22008-12-0613-41-57-89.jpg

New divisions are deployed and ordered to their staging grounds.

In what is possibly one of the weirdest military campaigns I have ever seen, somehow the Austrians and Hungarians both managed to capture each others capitals at the same time!
HoI22008-12-0613-52-57-46.jpg

In anger both armies retorted to pillaging and terrorizing each others Capitals in response!

With no United States to protect them, Liberia has been annexed by the Exiles of National France.
HoI22008-12-0613-57-11-46.jpg

After some extreme chaos the Austrians and Hungarians have reestablished their lines somewhat.
HoI22008-12-0613-57-22-18.jpg

The United States is effectively screwed. Pressed in from all sides it is only a matter of time before they collapse completely.

Japan has made significant gains in China and against the Germans.
HoI22008-12-0614-08-30-31.jpg

The Hungarian Army managed to capture Vienna while holding their own capital. The war seems to have taken a turn for the worse for Austria.

Operation Steel Rain

The War with Bulgaria was never a declared one. As far as the Romanian people were concerned every day spent working towards Greater Romania was a day at war.

But when the the first shells began to fall on Bulgarian positions outside Constanta, the forces of Romanian came well fed, well equipped and ready to fight!

Romanian Troops quickly storming a destroyed Bulgarian position.

The assault on Constanta was very well planned, with the Bulgarian army crushed by total surprise, overwhelming numbers and superior training.
HoI22008-12-0614-55-47-98.jpg

Not long after the mauled Bulgarian army retreated from Constanta with the fledgling Romanian Air force striking at them constantly.

HoI22008-12-0614-56-02-75.jpg

The fall of Constanta was immediately followed up by an attack on Pleven, which was a total success. The Romanian Army was eating ground faster then anyone had anticipated.
HoI22008-12-0614-57-22-65.jpg

The day after saw the fall of the Bulgarian port of Varna.
HoI22008-12-0614-58-04-76.jpg

With most of its cities captured and moral running low the Army of Austria surrendered to Hungary, hailing the end of the Austrian state. Emperor Otto met with the Hungarian Leadership who in a surprise move agreed that he should still hold the title of King of Hungary, but under the condition that the young King take a Hungarian bride.
HoI22008-12-0614-58-46-64.jpg

With the Austria no longer a issue in the matter the Greek Navy took the initiative to retake Kefalonia.
HoI22008-12-0614-58-59-37.jpg

The battle for Varna was not over as quickly as I had thought as the Bulgarians manage to rush 4 fresh divisions in the defend the city. It matters not in the end for their army cannot hold against the superior training and might of the Romanian Army. Much of Varna is soon leveled afterwords.

The city is finally captured and the troops in Varna soon assist in destroying resistance in Pleven, as well as attacking into Plovdiv.

IR:2 provinces captured
SER:1 Province Captured, 1 Lost
GRE:0 Captured/Lost

Romania is inventing Bliztkrieg :D:rofl:

this is a stupid thing, the hoi 2 devs did, the "cadrilater" that is the south of dobrogea, the regio Bulgaria had to give to romania as a war spoil after 1913 did not contain Constanta wich was 50 KM north of the province(in the Hoi province of Tulcea). the biggest settlement in southern dobrogea is Balcik, a well known turistical atraction nowadays...

I am saying this in order to avoid further misunderstanding, for example, in discutions regarding the history of Romania and Bulgaria
