((I was too lazy to put a color code since it's not the final definitive version or anything.((Light blue is New Democrats/Current Democrats, Green is Federals, Yellow is Whigs, Dark blue is original Democrats, Dark red is ACP, Light red is Republican, and I'm not sure about Purple, Black, and Orange.))
I toyed with various ideas for representing coalitions, but nothing really stood out (especially for coalitions that were only one term out of two that a president held, and other oddities like that).
White - Washington is classified as having no party.
Black - The Federalists.
Purple - The Democratic-Republicans
Blue - the Democratic Party (after Jackson's split)
Yellow - The Whigs.
Orange - The National Republicans (the Brass Wing of the Whig Party - mostly given a new color because of the whole party dynamic in the next election)
Red - The State's Republicans/The Republican Party.
Light Blue - The New Democratic Party (later, the Democrats, but they were a far different party than the Jacksonian Democrats)
Green - the Federal Party
Dark Red - the American Conservative Party
if there were pictures for a lot of the competitors, it might be more interesting to show each election's other candidates and their parties (which allows us to bring in new colors for the Libertarians and SNP, who never got to the presidency - and maybe represent coalitions better)
[if anyone has not identified all the presidents yet, it is: row of historical presidents up to Jackson, King, Cameron (2 terms), Walsh, Brass, Cameron (3rd term), Williams (2ish terms), Jamous (2 terms), Mandrake, Callahan, Bridgeworthy, Vallejo, Davis, Hayden (2ish terms), Harrison (2ish terms), Carr in that order]))
