Which means its gonna be a meaty long dev diary full of patch notes muaha
Imagine they tell us the release date is August 31 and don’t tell us anything else

At this point this seems likely. The "fun news" we were told to wait for might just be "hey we might bring out the patch on this release date see you kthxbye".

I doubt it. The 31st seems a quite pointless date to release this patch.
Also, the reason for stopping the dev diaries is because they didnt want to release any if they werent meaty enough and had new stuff to show (see the pinned thread Jamor posted on July). So if they say there is gonna be a dev diary today, its fair to assume that weather patch notes or just new stuff, its gonna be something worthwhile.
I mean it was just a joke I don’t expect it to actually just be that after months of waiting

Devs said after the release of 1.4 that they want to have a two-week long break from DDs after any major update, so we have to brace ourselves and survive another two weeks
