Tested and can confirm the expand empire cb no longer works. You don't get it against nations bordering the empire like you're supposed to, so I can't test if the AE problem is still there.
You still get it, but only against countries who's total warscore cost is below 99% (I'm not sure about the exact limit, but it is around that value). This is lower than the 200% warscore limit which has existed in 1.30 and much lower than in earlier 1.31 patches where the limit was somewhere above 1000% warscore.

The unit models distribution is now pretty great, however there are still some issues. Such as what IndigoRage mentioned below.
Generic Tier 1s for many French tags, Tier 4s for much of Germany, and full generic still for some tags in the Rhineland, Emilia-Romagna, and in Lower Saxony.
The Haida in North America still use the generic NA native models. All nations that use the Huron models don't switch to muskets at all. A good amount of the unique Tier 1 Native models don't have any color variation. Other models that don't have color variations include Morocco, Tunis, Algiers, Mamluks, Nubian, Kilwa, Milan, Naples, Venice, Florence, all Tier 1 Hundred Years War models, along with the Italy and Germany models added in Emperor. An almost unnoticeable amount of the Brandenburg/Prussia Tier 3 and 4 models change colors. The models used for the Knights would work better for the Crusaders(Naxos, Athens, Epirus, Cyprus, and Jerusalem) than what the culture system has them use. Trebizond uses the old Byzantine models but, in my opinion, the Theodoro models would work better for them.

Overall the changes and fixes that have come since the release of 1.31 and Leviathan are a step in the right direction. Hopefully more come in the future.

Also my condolences for Spain being knocked out of the Euros.

all Tier 1 Hundred Years War models
From what I've seen, no tier 1 Hundred Years War models are even working on any tags not directly associated with them. They seem completely untouched by the new system.
The models used for the Knights would work better for the Crusaders(Naxos, Athens, Epirus, Cyprus, and Jerusalem) than what the culture system has them use
For a few of them like Rhodes, Cyprus, and Jerusalem it makes sense, but I think it would feel weird for tags under Venetian influence like Naxos or being ruled by Florentines like Athens to be using them. For later tiers it's not so bad, but tier 1 being a style of armor outdated by the better part of a century and representing a group that had largely been supplanted by Italian nobility in Greece by 1444 feels a bit strange. On the other hand, I think the Purple Phoenix models are some of the most outdated ones in the game and really show their age. Sort of torn. Perhaps a more liberal application of the Thedoro units are in order? After all as I recall they were originally made for players to substitute out the Purple Phoenix models if players wished.

I will say on color variations: it seems to have kind of borked the Navarrese units. They're supposed to have green hats and now they're red.

Greetings!

After a period of public testing and iterations we've now decided the time has come for 1.31.5 to be fully released! Thank you to all participants of the beta test - your help has been invaluable.

As usual - there might be unforeseen consequences if you load a <= 1.31.4 save in 1.31.5 - so it should be avoided if you can. If you still want to load an old save - make sure to create a backup if possible. You can also finish off your ongoing save in the previous version before updating. For instructions on how to revert to a previous version, please go here!

And as always, please report any issues in our bug report forum or submit a support ticket. Thank you!

We should also mention that with this release, we're entering the Paradox summer break so development will slow down somewhat to allow our people to recuperate. As such Dev Diaries are going on hiatus until September (we know there haven't been any for a while, but wanted to set expectations!).

Since the update, the game runs unplayably slowly for me. I do not own the DLC. I am in a large war vs the ottomans and I can't even function because of how poorly everything is working.

Try to dismiss the blue flag notification that you can create new states. That helps in many cases

There should be three actually, there is another one named Rio grande (great/big river in spanish/portuguese) near the la plata charter
Shouldn't they change it? I was playing as Spain and I finished colonising Rio Grande. I thought it was the Brazilian colony, but it was already finished and I forgot about the Texan Rio Grande colony.

As a little side note I had a similar problem elsewhere, I recieved the mission to colonise Guinea, and therefore I colonised that coastal province between Morocco and Jenne after all it is in the Guinea region, only really after I understood they ment the Guinea area

- The AI is now more likely to grant an Estate Land Right privilege if they are reaching their governing capacity.

If this is working at all, then it is definitely not "likely" enough.

I was just playing a campaign where AI Spain is sitting at around 600/500 in their GC, and had not granted a single GC estate privilege. In fact, when loading up a save, AI Spain almost immediately releases Aragon as a vassal... in the middle of a war.

I'm not even sure how this is possible. Certainly players cannot (voluntarily) release subjects during war.

Apparently the AI now prioritizes releasing vassals above even following the ordinary rules of the game.
