Sweet mother of pearl, I'm drooling. I'm really sad to hear that S. Klaus took out Hermes, Task Force Z, and in fact everything else to the Phils and lost 'em in apparent miscommunication of intents by PacFleet. And at the same time I'm thrilled. God I love the Pacific.

It was a battle scenario so I assume no economy.

Ahh yes Grasshopper - but the best fisherman always uses a wriggly worm...

You see Aanel, it is possible that Co-op Multiplayer ONLY works in Scenarios without Resources (Battle Scenarios) so if they don't realise that is what I am asking then they might say something...er...oppps...darn :eek:o

From simple inference (and reading previous posts on the issue, I believe) we can tell that everyone controls everything.

Aldo was merely "going through channels" when protesting the illicit seizure of his division by Admiral Darkrenown instead of physically selecting the corps and taking it back on his own. A nice touch.

I can only imagine that this game is going to be extremely good fun in Co-op. :)

*wishes he were in the beta aswell* :D

Darkrenowns operation were a little more troublesome. Since I was not in command of this operation I am not fully briefed but this is how I perceived things: :)
After seriously underestimating the Allied numbers on the enemy beaches the first landing was a complete failure despite extensive planning. In order for Japan not to loose momentum in the offensive I assisted Commander Darkrenown with one of the marine regiments under my command by sailing it to the northern shores. When he with new divisions launched a second landing my marines went along.

:eek:o I kinda messed up my first landing. My planned diversion attack compleatly failed to happen and the allies managed to shift all their forces to the province I was invading and wiped it out.

Luckily Jpd sent the allied fleets to the bottom of the sea and I felt safe enough to grab some troops garrisoning other islands and launch a 2nd invasion supported by Aldo's marines (I say Aldo's marines, but at the time I just thought "Wow, didn't know I had these!:D"). By this time most of the allied troops were in the south facing Aldo's troops, so my invasion quickly wrapped up the north (even if Aldo did take his marines back :( ), pocketed the allied force with Aldo and we wiped them out.

With PHI in Imperial hands and the seas under the control of the IJN I launched an invasion into Borneo while Aldo headed off somewhere else. Sadly just about everyone had to leave at that point, so we called it a day.

As the senior beta jpd took control of the IJN Glorious Taskforces. Darkrenown and me got a Transport Fleet each and I managed to take some escorting Cruisers without anyone protesting. With jpd ruling the waves and taking HongKong, I and Darkrenown decided to conduct two separate landings on the Philippine main island.

I was in charge of the southern landing operation. Unopposed the escorted transport fleet crossed the South China Sea. With one infantry division and two marine regiments the beaches of the southern part of the island was soon in Imperial control.

The landing was a success but when I now was about to relocate my marine regiment to my Corps south of Manilla the regiment was attached to one of Darkrenowns Corps and involved in a new offensive into the island! I made an official protest and in the end the regiment was returned to my Corps. With good air support (Darkrenown) and a strong offensive from north (Darkrenown) and south (me) the main island was soon in Imperial hands and the old quarrels were forgotten. :)

Then I left to dine with some friends and missed out on the many more glorious Japanese victories.

Great AAR...so there are regiment lvl. in all the battlescenarius now? cool, i can see the need for it in the pacific.
Seems like you have to have some kind of overall plan in co-op to succed and communication seems to be mean everything to succed.
This will be Incredible fun :p

Well, in Vic many files are checked to see if they match. If you had, say, my ACW mod installed you could not play with someone without it. I think the AI files are included in this check and I'd assume it's the same with HoI2.

Following the suggestion by Johan, the royal navy, in or close by Singapore, was sent northwest to join the American fleet to strike against the japanese. Most of the royal navy was sunk west of the Philippines, by a big Japanese taskforce. Note for next game: Check the size of the enemy fleet before deciding to send out the entire fleet.

Isn't that what submarines are for? Scouting out ahead of the fleet to determine enemy size and disposition? Fleet Submarine Doctrine, yes?
<g>

Nice to know those Battleship admirals weren't complete fools when they came up with the idea, even if the subs were ultimately superseded by aircraft in the reconnaissance role. Even today, tho, subs are still used in that capacity. Just saw the History International 2 hr program on the Falklands war. The British subs not only found the cruiser (formerly known as the USS Phoenix), they sunk it and chased the entire Argentine navy back into port.

You ever notice how most navies, when facing the Royal Navy, have a tendency to run and hide? Or even scuttle their own ships? Are they that afraid or "Scurvey, Sodomy, and the Lash?" to mis-quote Churchill.

I'm probably going to be banned for this :)

Playing as the UK together with Grosshaus. Placing lots of troops in Singapore and north of it in preparations for an invasion that never came. The Gurkas did a nice little raid into Hanoi, the Japs moved through Siam, slowly advancing towards the British troops...

Lesson 3: never send a full fleet to attack a foe you don´t fully know just because Johan asks to concentrate troops somewhere. Might be that the foe is wee bit larger and it make take the ally fleet more time to get there.
Lesson 4: learn how to supply your fleets with oil *before* playing a naval battlescenario:)

We want the stake and you throw us a bone *sigh*

In other words: nice teaser :D

Good to see that Paradox realise the fun in CO-OP.
Too bad no paradox game agree with my Router :(

I guess I'll have to play it by LAN then, oh boy do I love my laptop! :)
May I humbly suggest that maybe you should get a different router. My router (Alcatel SpeedTouch) works flawlessly .... ;)

For some of us the router comes with the internet connection, at times it´s even a joint one for the whole building. Pretty hard to change that. Luckily my current apartment´s connections allows me to MP, finally.

looks nice when is the next AAR :p
