Summer 1942: A build up before the Storm?
Not much happens during the summer. Early summer
USSR declares war on Japan. that is a good thing, but I can’t see that they will commence any major operations against each other at the moment. USSR drives away the defence from Prague from time to time, but they are never able to take the city before new defenders pour into the kettle. The fighting there is kind of attritional, but we can take it as long as the rest of the theatre is stable.
Some minor skirmishes with the IJN ends with at sunk Transport flotilla (empty) for the RN and some damages made mostly on capital ships. The carriers are never out of harbour together during these months, some are always on repair.
The IJN loses during a months time, end of June to end of July these ships in combat against the RN:
IJN Yamashiro(BB)
IJN Nagato(BB)
IJN Haguro(CA)
IJN Izumo(CA)
IJN Furutaka(CA)
IJN Nachi(CA)
1 Sensuikantai(SS)
19 Yuso Sentai(TP)
The odds are clearly against Japan. They have 3 Carriers left against RN’s 5, among the IJN ships are the formidable Zuikaku. The Japanese carriers are grouped together and have frequently clashed with the RN. Almost all the losses taken by the IJN have been ships grouped together with the carriers. The USN is down to 12 Carriers, but they don't seem all that distressed by that fact.
Venezuela joined the allies, which is a good thing as we monopolise the oil market even more by that. Not that it hurts the USSR, but the Japanese should be in trouble when it comes to oil as even the Netherlands has kept their colonies in Asia.
USA decided to declare war upon Communist China during the summer. It will not affect the war at all. Perhaps Communist China will get closer to the USSR, especially as both of USSR’s enemies Japan and the allies are at war with named Communist China
The Summer Operation 1942: Viper’s Tail
Midnight the 7 July 1942 elements of the 8th Indian Army assaulted Thom Buri in Siam with support of the RN. The province was almost not defended, most of the troops seen earlier had been sent against Gen. Slim’s Corps in the Mandalay. The assaulting force consisted of King’s Own Royal Border Regiment (KORB) & King’s Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) forming the KO Division. The rest of the Corps was the Tamil Marine division’s I & II, an answer from the South of the empires crown to the more mountain aligned elite Ghurkha units.
These divisions had now Bangkok and the peninsula in the south on a fork. They swiftly advanced into the jungle and cut of the Siamese and Japanese units on the Peninsula.
When contact was made with the enemy the units defending North of Singapore attacked the Japanese together with the units who had advanced through the jungle.
The Final Assault was made by 3 Marine Divisions and one Army Division
Surrounded in the jungle without supply the Japanese could only stand their ground against one assault, the second assault were a success and the Japanese Corps HQ were promptly shipped of to an unknown destination.

A new update will follow soon, perhaps with more action. Beware!
