Heeresgruppen Nord
Baltic Sea - Finland
Where we left of German troops continued to close in on the strategically valuable but in the typical Bolshevik state of vulnerability. With most of Soviet troops fighting a tough campaign against the brave Finnish defenders, the Wehrmacht divisions were able to continue their advance deep into Northern Russia and on the verge of closing the 'Window to Europe' forever to Communism. Only 110,000 thousand troops were left to defend the vaunted city of St. Petersburg. But facing 90,000 battle-hardened German troops, the number is highly inadequate.

Heeresgruppen Sud
Central Ukraine - Kiev Oblast
Troops under General Kluge attempted to surround the garrison at Kiev by wheeling around the city to target its main transportation hub and the central route to the rest of the country, Priluki. Using a pincer style advance, twenty nine total divisions advanced on a North-South axis upon the tiny city. General Budenny was highly unprepared for such a massive advance in his sector of the front. The battle was quickly won and a Soviet tank division was so severely mauled that a single tank crew survived the battle.

Josef Stalin said:
...What the Czars has built, what [Lenin] has reborn, is forever lost to the Fascists. If the people continue to believe that Fascist rule is complementary to their survival, not even the dogs will listen to us.

Berlin, Grossdeutschland
Fuhrer Headquarters/OKW Headquarters (Generals Council)
With German troops rapidly advancing into the Soviet Union, more and more nations sought to break themselves from the British overdomineering 'tutelage'. Although neutral in nature, Iran's elite clearly saw the benefits of close relations with the superpower that is the German Reich. Allied fears that the crucial refinery in Abadan would fall into Axis hands led to deep suspicion of Iran Pasha. British planners soon began work to secure the vital resources that this Aryan nation had. The discovery of said plans and the outrage that followed led to the acceptance of Iran into the Axis on August 25.
