@ Viden: Well, if Czechoslovakia is artificial, you can also say that for most of other states in this story. Sudetenland may be predominantly German after all those years, but territory of Alsace-Lorraine was under German control from 1871 and they are probably fully Germanophonic areas now. Should France give it to Federal Republic of Germany because of this? It's all an issue of national prestige of victors and punishment for defeated. Moreover, it's stupid to argue about speculations about population, demography and ethnic structure. Such spresumptions can be used to decide about some issues, but they are not worth of arguing. This is fantasy scenario of which the main goal is fun and entertaiment. It's not meant to be simulation of real life, altough I'm trying my best to keep it the boundaries of relative realism.
@ Lurken: Well, many states have national minorities inside their borders, and this doesen't affect their names. Should I rename Czechoslovakia to Bohemia-Moravia-Slovakia-Sudetenland?
@ Hochseeflotte: Weren't Czechoslovak revolters freedom fighters? Also, President of USA is Stanley McChrystal and President of CSA is Thorn Carville. If I remember right, they both have presidental terms until 2016.
@ atty: The Tsar probably gave away all those Russian populated territories with a good reason. Moscow can influence Finnish policy via Russians in Finland this way. Finns won't assimilate Russians and Russians won't Russificate Finns. Both Finnish and Russians are probably official languages, so there's no discrimination. Romanov-na-Murmane is surely important port, but Russians can use it anyway because it's under friendly Finnish control. As for Kosovo, Serbia is in French domain and French & her closest allies wouldn't want Kosovo under control of pro-Russian Albania. Russians and other UNA members are surely not enemies, but there's a strong rivalry for client states going on now.
@ SovietAmerika & atty: As for Austria-Illyria, minor-Yugoslav plan was always more popular among the Southern Slavic nations that were traditionally under Habsburg rule than greater-Yugoslav plan. Minor Yugoslavia (Illyria) was often proposed to Vienna by Slovenes and Croats IOTL Austria-Hungary. Illyria was meant to be third federal entity (so the empire would then be Austria-Hungary-Illyria). However, IRL Austria-Hungary collapsed and everyone declared independence. Habsburg South Slavic nations in short-lived State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs joined with other South Slavic nations (in Serbia and Montenegro) into Kingdom of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, later renamed into Kingdom of Yugoslavia. South Slavic nations joined into single state after WW1 because Italy and German Austria would anex the State of SCS that didn't enjoy international recognition and support. Austria-Illyria is better choice than forming potentially unstable single South Slavic state. Also, A-I isn't fully Austro-German dominated state, it's federation like Austria-Hungary was. But as I said before, my job here isn't to argue about ethnic relations, my aim is to make relatively plausible and interesting post-war setup.
Thanks for comments, everyone!
War of the Titans - 20
War in Europe was over, but in Africa, the war was over long before the weapons were put down. All African states and foreign nations presented in Africa already planned the future of this continent. French were making plans of creating French Union that would be effective connection between metropolitan France (mainland France, French North Africa), and French protectorates in Africa and French overseas territories. Kingdom of Egypt, spanning from Tripoli to Dar es Salaam. Egyptian king was negotiating with local leaders about status of diffrent regions that could receive more autonomy, like creating autonomous principalities in Ethiopia and Kenya that would be ruled by local nobles, but would remain integral parts of Egypt. Despite the end of large conflicts, Africa was still not enjoying stable peace. Syndicalist rebels were raging from Cape Town to Freetown, drawing their strength from legacy of Union of Africa: Ideology, weapons, experience and art of war.
Columns of Egyptian troops were returning from Anatolia via Middle East towards Egyptian possessions in East Africa. Presence of Syndicalist rebels was heavy in most parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, troubling French, Egyptian, Portugese, Kinshasan and even South African authorities.
Persia had to give away Tabriz to Russians and her Western border territories to Iraq. It was high price for peace, but Persia at least managed to stay independent, without falling into any sphere of influence.
In South Asia, Princenly Federation and remaints of Qing Empire in India couldn't be defeated despite the heavy pressure from all sides. Peace treaty abolished Qing Empire and sealed Princenly achievements in war (main peace condition for Princenly India was to stop hosting Qing authorities on her territory), limiting UNA allied India to broader Punjab region. Afghanistan was liberated from Qing forces by Indian troops during the war. Russians faced many troubles in unstable country before the war and weren't interested to return due to issues in the other parts of the world. India was allowed to anex territory of Afghanistan.
Even after the peace treaty, two rival Indian states continued to dwell in the Indian subcontinent: UNA-allied Republic of India and United Principalities of India.
In Southeast Asia, AlgOstAsien corporate conglomerate resisted in same stubborn way as Princenly India did. Thailand had to surrender to mercenary hordes and became another cash cow protectorate of corporate suits in Singapore. Peace treaty recognized AlgOstAsien soveregity over Thailand, but company-state had to give North Borneo to Indonesia. In Burma, Princenly troops established independent State of Burma and gave power to loyal military junta.
In East Asia, Fengtien Republic dominated Chinese mainland. With boosted self-confidence due to territorial expansion of Fengtien Republic, Prime Minister Kim Jong Il soon demanded Emperor Akihito to resign from position of President of Fengtien Republic. Facing massive popular dissatisfaction in China, Japanese emperor accepted those demands. Kim Jong Il soon won the presidency, gaining support of Chinese people by his resistance against Japanese influence and promises of economic prosperity.
In South America, armies of La Plata reached Caribbean Sea via Guyana. Brazilians and UNA expeditionary troops faced enemy that was equal or even stronger in experience, equipment and tactics. German soldiers from German expeditionary corps in South America fought side by side with Platinean troops against UNA. After capitulation of Germany, those soldiers refused to give up the fight. They simply became part of regular army of La Plata. Peace treaty with La Plata returned Brazil into boundaries from 1930s, enriching La Plata with new territories. With peace treaty in South America, alliance of Mitteleuropa was finally terminated.
UNA expeditionary troops, most of them were from United States, started to leave Brazil after peace with La Plata was signed.
After the long years of global conflict, peace was finally restored. Celebrations and military parades were held in cities of victorious countries, but also commemorations for the fallen were taking place all around the world. The war was over. It was time to heal the wounds and to rebuild what was destroyed.
