Great work DoW.

The only natural thing now would be starting a Horde game in EUIII, at the time were the horde has one puny province, preferibly while in war with the Crimean Ottoman Alliance if there is such a position. ;)

NOOOO! Not EU3. Make this game into Vicky!

Duke, you don't get the view count or amount of comments by writing poorly. You are an excellent writer. Don't sell yourself short. I, too, am looking forward to seeing what you do next.

A good writer, not neccesarily a good player. Letting the Republic win! How dare you.

(Sorry trying to get to 150 in the thread)

Great AAR!!

But what happens with Berker Khan? ;)

Emperor_krk - Thanks a lot for the encouragement. I will look forward to you following any AARs I start in the future and hope you will comment too.

PrawnStar - Thanks, it been great to have you along.

nette001 - Thanks heaps for following and the encouragement. Glad you've enjoyed it.

GrimPagan - Sorry to disappoint on that front. Yeah it surely would have been a more fitting end.

billy bob - It is sad to see the Horde end but surely the ride was worth it. Despite its weak points I think EUIII is good and somewhat more enjoyable than EUII now. That said it does have an ugly map and it doesn't feel as satisfying to make a big empire in that game.

Snake IV - Thanks Snake. I do think that'd be somewhat more difficult than this game :D

Lord Skane - Thank you for all that praise. Its been good to have you along following.

Amric - Thanks Amric. I suppose that's right, I am surprised at how high the view count has gotten though.

Lord_D - Berker Khan, inspired by the lack of high fat content food in Europe eventually go on to open stores as far from home as the British Isles. They soon become one of the most popular foods for all Christians. But those in the Golden Republic are incensed that they would supply the infidels with nutritious treats and begin a boycott of stores. However due to their financial backing of the Republican Council the army is called in and forces an end to the boycott by burning down competition and beheading protesters. This tactic proves highly successful and a covert operation begins in Europe. Soon every restaurant from Luigi's Pizzeria to Smiths Fish and Chips is targeted and ransacked by Berker Khan agents. Following the philosophy that all is fair in business and not bothering about ethical issues such as law and human life Berker Khan goes on to dominate world food supply and by the early 21st century is responsible for approximately 23% of the world population calorie intake.

M4 Emperior - Not a bad idea but I don't think it will be happening.

Well after two and a half years of writing this AAR it really is odd to go and call it quits. It did feel there for quite some time that it would never actually conclude, when I realised that I had only two or three more updates remaining it was somewhat sad. I did actually consider using the no time limit patch to at least play for another few years. However I feel in the end what was really needed was a conclusion. I didn't want to simply fade away. The end was not the bloody collapse into fire and destruction that some would have predicted and still more enjoyed but I think this is one ending that wraps it up whilst still leaving the Horde as a mighty power to go onto greater things.

I have enjoyed this game, this writing and most of all the generous praise that my readers have given over the years ( :eek: I can actually say that, over the years). There have been, that I an recall, only two periods where I considered abandoning this AAR due to lack of inspiration and they were shortlived. As it was it became a little harder to write near the end as my once a week updating should indicate compared with the thrice a week of the first year. That said I still took/take pleasure out of coming onto the forum and seeing that someone has commented on my work. It been a while since I've seen anyone say so but I was also very pleased when my my AAR inspired four or five other AARs to begin in the same style.

The most enjoyable period of writing was the time when I was writing about the Reckep (see the list of Khans in the first post if you want a refresher). Being able to have four or five characters and write humourously about them was easy and I enjoyed it. Overall I've tried to make the entire AAR humourous without getting too bogged down in running jokes or getting silly.

And now a few personal thanks.

Chief Ragusa - My most frequent commenter. I think from the time you began reading this AAR the number of updates you've missed could be counted on one hand. Thank you for being so consistent and for the in depth comments that bring up points or make predictions I hadn't thought of. On more than one occasion it changed the course of the story.

billy bob - This AAR would have been a lot less colourful without your bloodthirsty and anti-uZBEK posts. Thank you for keeping it fun. And an extra thanks for writing that chapter some time back.

Grundius - Don't know if you're still around but if you see this thank you. Your comments were always appreciated and you were one of the longest running commenters.

coz1 - You always offered good insightful comments and it has been great to have such a skilled writer following my AAR, especially back when this AAR was very new.

GrimPagan, Specialist290 - You've both been frequent visitors throughout this AAR and always offered good comments that have been interesting and appreciated, thank you.

Saulta, Nobegow - Thank you to both of you for your comments throughout.

Amric - A pleasure to have such an esteemed writer following. Your comments have always been some of the most in depth and thoughtful. Thank you very much.

Snake IV - Not a frequent poster but great to see that you followed this. Thanks.

Vann the Red - Didn't see you too often but I suspect you were lurking for sometime. When you have commented they've always been good so thank you.

Mettermrck - I've always looked forward to your comments on the writing. From such a high calibre writer they are quite something.

GhostWriter - Magnificent to have had you reading this and taking the time to read all hundred or so pages that were written when you came along. Thanks.

Farquharson - Thank you for following this AAR, as one of my favourite writiers it was much appreciated.

The Real Deal - Always appreciated your comments and your praise for my basic artwork and GIFs. Thank you.

Fingal, Fnuco - Thanks to both of you for following this AAR and our great chapter's that you wrote.

And thanks to everyone else who has commented or read this AAR on it's long journey.

Thank you, thank you. Remember the only good uZBEK is a dead one.

Im likely going to the same thing I did with EU2. Refuse to switch until I just see it in a bargain bin and get it and realize it is actually fun. Until then my fanaticism will only transcend for certain points. For EU2 it was Judge's Order aar. For EU3 it was your uZBEK aar(How dare you!?).

If you ever wish to do an aar again send something to me. Collaborative AAR ftw.

EDIT:Note the last post of the Italy RPG/AAR.(the only aar to have more posts than yours.

Thank you too for making such a wonderful AAR! DoW :D And not to forget your stand in for a while too!

Hope to see more of your work in the future DoW! Been awesome.

Norway...next? :mad:

Norway? Are you mad? The only appropiate country is one that can kill uZBEKs.(nods)

What? It's over? And what a way for it to go. I have to agree - a republic doesn't sound quite as menacing but as long as their policies remain in line with tradition, there should be plenty of rebel bashing to go on for many centuries more.

This was a really enjoyable ride, Duke. From the many, many puns you scattered throughout to how you continually made the game as difficult as you could to keep up the enjoyment factor for yourself (and us) - a true gem and I am sad to see it come to close. A mighty achievement, nonetheless and congratulations for completing it, to be sure.

Finally, I should like to echo our esteemed colleague in sharing this sentiment:

An excellent gag all the way through. That bit was gold. :D

Thanks for the AAR, Duke. I really enjoyed it. :)

Heck! Norway or...Inca's or somethign! Timurids....Whatever nation that Is a bit fitting the skills of The Duke! ;)

It must be able to kill the uZBEKs though. (nods)

150 posts for the thread! WOOT GO ME!

Man it feels like its been ages since I first started reading this AAR. Its been a long time. Awesome AAR I must say, Im kinda sad it had to end. I was kinda hoping it never would. But alas, it has concluded. Outstanding work Duke of Wellington, outstanding.

I think this AAR should just stay EUII. If you go to EUIII, the game is so bland with no ability to code historical events for your nation and that was what made this AAR fun. The mixture of monarchs (that don't have a numeral after their name) and crazy events which the Duke imposed on himself which were normally a case of the following :

Code:
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }
command = { type = revolt which = -1 }

Then the Horde's answer would always be something along the lines of "Die!". Or if billy bob was the ruler it would probably be "I blame the uZBEKs!" :D

Kind of sad to see this AAR just end.

that sure took me by surprise ! ! (the Republic) :)

even so, it has been a wonderful AAR ! !
