But it utterly destroys the role playing that he is doing. Just because he lost the war dosent mean he will go nuts with gaming the system.

The sad thing is, this is probably the ONLY AAR where the AI is beating a human consistently.

Hey, hey, hey! I was doing good till the Soviets attacked us. Britain may have faltered, but I was doing pretty good till those Communists decided China was more valuable than taking all of its land back in Europe.

[insert several curses towards the Soviets here]

Exactly. Since the game does not model this kind of situation well, it does require some of my guidance. I am not going to go apeshit and go unrealistic or screw things up horribly.

I hope to get another update up, pending on me finishing my essay and soil mechanics homework.

Suck-up ;) :p

We, the readers are the US Congress! You will listen to our demands or be voted out of your power while trying!

The only thing that is against your little survival effort are the divs. The Axis have some 1500 divs and the Allies have some 300 divs? So you are only outnumbered 1:5!

You could take the latest Call of Duty scenes in D.C. and have that represent the images in the Capitol.

Well remember guys we're in reconstruction now. Things are being rebuilt. That said I wouldn't be surprised if some monuments were left in a ruined state and it was voted that they wouldn't be restored until the Soviet and German empires were thrown down.

Our congress, our beautiful congress... :(

YOU MONSTERS YOU BLEW IT UP!!! WHYY??? DAAAMN YOUUUU!!!

I propose that we take 4 billion off our defence budget and use it to restore our glorious congresshouse. :) ...And we want the money now, not after the war!

Some historic buildings in Germany haven't been restored until today (some deliberately, some because of inadequate funds, and some were blown up by the GDR-regime if they didn't get the approval of the socialists, oh well).

The nuclear bombs likely flattened any building that wasn't steel-reinforced. The question is, how accurately were they delivered?
Then, most of the East Coast was occupied by the Confederates for quite some time, so it can be assumed that they razed some buildings that were connected to the civil war or the Union in general.
Thirdly, the fighting in the second civil war didn't spare most cities. That produced even more damage.

It's safe to say that no American city (apart from Chicago and Detroit) looks anything like it looked before the war and even after reconstruction won't remotely resemble any of today's skylines. Buildings in the style of the 50s and 60s will dominate the cities in this new timeline, much like today in Germany.

This will likely mean many raw concrete buildings, since concrete buildings are cheap and fast to construct. Sadly, today such buildings are mostly known for also being very ugly*. :p

*(at least those that were mass-constructed after the war to provide living room for East Germans)

I might agree if it were just one city, but several got nuked...

What's your obsession with congress... everyone hates congress.... :p

A very good analysis  ...Though Detroit got hit too...

Yes, several cities did get nukes. Yes, the civil war did smash down quite a few cities. That changes nothing about my basic point being that we're in a mass reconstruction and things are being rebuilt. You'll note I didn't say anything about being anywhere near finished. It's been what a year? That does mean a bit of progress has been made, especially in cities like DC which are a prestige bit.

As for the style of buildings, I'll defer to those who know what they're talking about. I have no training or interest in architecture so I couldn't say what a rebuilt US city will look like.

For game purposes, I have started rebuilding the infrastructure in nuclear-ruined cities.

Exactly. Germany has a much larger reconstruction effort going on than the US, as so much of its power relies on the fact that Europe now must look towards them as a power figure. If Germany abandons the Italians, the French, and the Spanish to fix their own states, I believe they would lose credibility. Think of it as the Marshall Plan, but from a German perspective. This will help solidify Germany's influence among the European community.

.

The Dresdner Frauenkirche is a beautiful church. I had the pleasure of visiting it on my trip to Europe. I did not know that it was not finished reconstruction yet!

The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, I saw that as well and thought it was left like that as a reminder of the war?

(apart from Chicago and Detroit)
It is safe to say Detroit is not a fun place to be right now.

Also, I don't think the US has very many skyscrapers left it its cities. Most have been nuked.

You could take the latest Call of Duty scenes in D.C. and have that represent the images in the Capitol.

I will have a look at those.

I am sorry for the lack of updates so far. I am going to be writing one today, and I think it will be a sad one for anyone who holds former American OTL 'Heroes' as their childhood hero

DOn't event think of killing Churchill or de Gaulle...please!!!

August 30th, 1956

Reich News Broadcasting

"At the Tribunals in Versailles, history’s greatest trial nears its fateful close. Under the most elaborate security precautions, only officials cars pass the heavily guarded street barricade. Flags of the victorious nations, sitting in judgment on the international military tribunal, fly over the court building. Hans Koch, of the Reichsgericht (supreme court), arrives. Credentials of spectators and officials alike are closely scrutinized, for it is amongst the grim and military atmosphere that 26 Allied war criminals are to hear their fate."

"German prosecutors enter as the final rounds of the 10 month trials begin. The prisoners, headed by Churchill, who shields his face, arrive under guard. The trials started with 27 defendants. One committed suicide, another was excused for health. One is tried in absentia. There are 21 left in the dark to face civilization’s accusations. These then are the men whose crimes against humanity brought about a trial without parallel in legal annals. It is doomsday, and the day of reckoning, as the court rises for one of the closing sessions. The world’s finest legal talent has been contributed for the tribunal of nations, which takes its place. Italy, Switzerland, and France are the other nations which are participating. The Allied hierarchy is there to answer for 10 years of plotting, as well as the fanatical cruelties and wholesale program of pillage and murder. Now it is civilizations’ turn to read their monstrous crimes into the record."

"(Hans Koch speaking)...Murder or ill treatment of prisoners of war or persons on the seas. Killing of hostages. Plunder of public or private property. Destruction of cities , towns, or villages. For devastation, not justified by military necessity. (C) crimes against humanity, namely murder, extermination, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during the war..."

"For many weary months, a mountain of proof has piled up against these men. Millions of words of evidence has been heard by the judges. Thousands upon thousands have been examined by the finest legal minds of the four nations. Defense council await with ill conceived anxiety for the verdict. in a trial conducted with scrupulous tyrannous for the right of the defendant. Literally tons of paper were removed after each log drawn out session of court. For five savage and bloody years, humanity has waited for this moment of retribution, when insane ambitions of men like these would come up against the stone wall of world justice. 11 will hang, two to be jailed, and 2 are acquitted. Hans Koch pronounces sentences."

"Defendant Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, on the counts of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the international military tribunal sentences you to death by hanging."

"Defendant Christian Cool, on the counts of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the international military tribunal sentences you to death by hanging."

"Defendant Bernard Law Montgomery, on the count of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the tribunal sentences you imprisonment for life."

"Defendant Archibald Percival Wavell, on the count of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the tribunal sentences you imprisonment for life."

"Defendant George Smith Patton, Jr., on the counts of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the international military tribunal sentences you to death by hanging."

"Defendant Walter Krueger, on the count of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the tribunal sentences you imprisonment for life."

"Defendant Charles André Joseph Marie de Gaulle., on the counts of the indictment, on which you have been convicted, the tribunal sentences you to death by hanging."

"Many others will meet their fate in similar fashion. This is the only conceivable end for these merchants of aggression, as it was these men who plunged the world into a terrible reign of bloodbath and death."

[Pictures to come, as I don't want Firefox crashing and losing my work. But what to get for pictures?]

**The trials are over. I will post a full list of the accused and their sentences later.**

I think its high time that the Allied Hierarchy actually began plotting for 10 years to bring Germany and their Europe down around their ears. Remember, be quick.

You want to catch em with their Panzers down !

Well sheesh. No need to get so upset. My original point was that Fallout 3's DC is totaly unrealistic for 2070s nukes :p
