That means, something from nature, that can be observed in nature? And did she shed more light on the syllable issue? ;)

Exactly, she said that it should be an observation from nature, and it must be very deep, brief and insightful, and convey a unique emotion. She gave me several examples, saying that they can never be adequately translated, and basically tore English haiku to pieces. :D I guess she feels about haiku in English like we would feel about Shakespeare in Japanese :)

Regarding syllables, she firmly said 'go-shichi-go' ('five-seven-five').

I can feel her pain. Every time I watch a non-German war movie and hear "Germans" talk. ;)

And I wouldn't want to see Goethe's or Schiller's plays in English. :D

Hee hee ... In order to get the full effect from this AAR, I've been reading the haiku aloud to myself in a soft, mellow voice. When I got to
Full moon. We are bored.
China growls as foreigners
rape her. Let's join in.
I nearly fell off my chair laughing. :D

Keep up the great work.

A Japanese Haiku AAR? Looking forward to it, we have too few poetry AARs here. :)

I tried this before, a long time ago, but Wasa replied not in haiku, thus breaking the wa of the thread.

That and I lost the savegame.

I actually was inspired by your AAR - I read it a few months ago and it stuck in my head since then... It was very good.

Consider me your devote disciple, Hamilcar sensei :)

I don't care about the wa that much, though... :D

Late 1430's

Sengoku_Jidai.jpg

Awoke at midnight
At the sound of palace gates
Taking cannon fire.

Came out to marvel
at late summer night... scarcely
ducked away from a shot!

Revolts everywhere.
Bah. They will be forgotten.
If we live to forget.

For now, as loyal
Samurai fight the rebels,
We will hibernate.

Elegant, funny to boot
Can't help but subscribe

Five, seven, and five
fusag can count syllables
But talk nature, no :D

Once played as Japan
Rebels bloom with each event
Outnumber flowers

Only five thousand
One province's citizens
Five times that rebels

An old samurai
Was wondering trough the world
Drip drip drip…
He was searching
Eagerly for the magic stone
Drip drip drip…
Or a butterfly
Or a bone none knows
Drip drip drip…
But finally
He found what he was searching on
Drip drip drip…
For this thread
Is where his journey gone
Drip…

Rain and sun have passed
On several days since last
An update was cast.

Numerous as leaves
In autumn revolts erupt
Fall’s color is red.

Ah the old Japan revolting cycle. Its been quite awhile since I last played them and now I remember why.:D

Joe

Spreading like flies
The old samurais
...where are you, Mulan?

You are a bit early
Imperialist dogs...
Word to your mothers!

I've reread the AAR
the haikus, the maps
Update the flowers, man!

1438 - 1442

haiku.jpg

Stability drops
Many times, Kansai's on fire
Kanto - killing fields.

Admiring moonlight
Ain't my priority now...
Damn! Can I survive?

Stab minus three, and
Badboy seventeen... that's when
China attacks us.

Listen. Heron's cry
Stabs the darkness. Menacing
Chinese are coming.

A busy beehive
With many angry insects
Looks scary… is weak.

Reflection of moon
In Wenshan pond is disturbed
By a widow’s tear.

A lot of Chinese
Will never come home… their souls
Haunt royal palaces.

Oh why did the sods
Attack us again? They lost
Two provinces. Bah.

This is Nippon on January 2, 1442:

Oh... You seem to not only survive, but flourish!

Excessive Whining
During lush April Showers
Brings joyful Update.
