Chapter one - right political upturn

flag3ue.jpg

The story begins here in Switzerland - small mountains country in the middle of Europe. In the 1936 year in this democratic country surrounded from three sides by fascist nations, new political genius begin announcing their plans ... Small but very convicting women - Isabelle Tell. ;)

She said, that new war is unavoidable and Swiss people should act on your own, not looking for Western democracies. And there is such big country which can help to end with fascist threat. But she not mentioned his name ....

Official goverment did not comment this, but many of peoples are believed in their speeches. A new party emerge in January 1936 - Tell's People Movement which force goverment to step into authoritarian side. In May 36 new party was so strong that Constitutional Policy was changed to full Dictatorship.

"0:00 May 15, 1936 : We went with Cave in to Ultrarightist demands in Constitutional Policy attacked by the opposition."

Mrs. Tell has not entered into government officially, but she begin leading in shadow of their cabinet.

Their first commands was extension of army and heavy industry. Fascism has brought up head in the Europe. Germans armies entered to demilitarized Rhineland, Italy annexed Ethiopia and Spanish Civil War has begun. Unfortunately Switzerland with only 9 divisions and so small productive capabilities was too weak to stop it. But Isabelle had plan already ...

In December 36 Swiss foreign minister Jacob Lorenz has managed to Moscow with secret mission on meeting with Maksim Litvinov.

Comrade Jacob - he said, the great Soviet Union and our Great Comrade Stalin is very interested in your plans. Truly our nations should cooperate to stop Fascism till there is not late. Please give us only good pretext and SOV army will liberate all workers and peasants from capitalistic oppression.

And he has signed Swiss - SOV secret pact about dividing of Central Europe.
From this time fate of all over the world was in Swiss and SOV hands .... :D

The story is political fiction based on vanilla DD 1.2 normal/aggressive, without any changes, F12 etc.

No ... At January 36 I moved one step to authoritarian. And in may 36 event no 5010 fired with ability: two steps to authoritarian and two steps right, making me dictatorship. I had good luck. :rolleyes:

db/events/SC Events.txt
## Constitutional Policy attacked by the opposition ##
event = {
id = 5010
random = yes
(..)
trigger = {
ideology = social_conservative
domestic = { type = democratic value = 8 }
}
(...)
action_d = { # Cave in to ultraright demands
ai_chance = 25
name = "actioname5010D"

command = { type = domestic which = political_left value = -2 }
command = { type = domestic which = democratic value = -2 }

Exactly! Just one random event and one slider move turning a full democracy into a dictatorship? Of course, at full right or left it doesn't take much, which is another oddity...

Hmm, in some countries like in Italy happened such upturns. Of course it helped me vastly, but the chance is very small. In many previous games it naver happened to me.

A communist Austria AAR with 'Swiss' in the title? :confused:

Doesn't seem too odd to me. At full right or full left, the government likely wouldn't tolerate any dissent (no socialism tolerated, no non-socialism tolerated), they being so used to having their own way. Radical elements could easily exploit that in a crisis situation if the people aren't wary.

If a government is a 70% right, that would seem to suggest a fairly conservative view, but also a certain degree of tolerance of the left.

Well, I suppose.

Chapter two - End of neutrality

In January 1937 Switzerland was ready to start a new war. 12 Swiss divisons was stationed in Zurich on German border.

But Switzerland couldn't be aggressor. It must become a victim of nazi .... and wait for arrival of Great Red Army. :) The provocation was already invented. Moscow gave green light too ... It was only necessary to carry it into life. It thought so Isabelle Tell.

This time Swiss foreign minister Jacob Lorenz has handed a note to Finland ambassador:

Dear Sir

Today 28 of January 1937, due to rejection of military access to Finland signed by your goverment, Switzerland have no any other choose like recognize it as declaration of war . We are very sorry for that, but please understand us. We have hope, this incident will not deteriorate relations between our glorious countries.

Best Regards
Jacob Lorenz

Ps. Look at Chief of the Army ;) (picture stayed from my Finnish game)

Isabelle has fired cigarette nervously. Now nothing become to us how wait for German reaction. Let's Lord has us in protection ....

You declared war on Finland? Now how random is this, considering Switzerland is landlocked.
Red Army is ready for liberation of Europe - we Swiss, all have hope that comrade Stalin don't stay us alone ...... :rolleyes:

Thanks for reading my AAR. I am very sorry that it could be better written, but how hard is to do it in foreign language ..... I can't write as I want, becouse this problem.

Not really, consider that ex. Sweden is full left. All that means is that we had a social-democratic govenrment. (admittedly one that would more or less remain in place democratically for the next 30 years or so, but still :p

What? Finland? Especially with that dissent hit... :wacko:

But...how...do...you...get...there?... :wacko:
