hopefully this move will settle things down on the political home front. I am eagerly looking forward to the time when you can liberate not only France but all of Europe from German imperialism.

Oh dear. I suppose this is good if it means that there's less chance of internal unrest disrupting the war but I'm worried that giving the nutters a voice in government isn't going to end particularly well in the long term.

I can't imagine Bonaparte will let himself be completely marginalised like that. He should begin to re-organize the Bonapartist party!

Ahaha nice political move, we must keep the monarchists divided.

Some of those numbers are pretty worrying. The German military is freaking huge in all areas, especially at sea and in the air. I hope that will not be too much of a problem for you.

However, what I find the MOST worrying is the United States military. What the hell are the American's doing with all that IC of theirs? Their army and navy are almost non-existent, with the USAF really being the only branch of their armed forces that could be really useful. Is the USA AI not devoting anything to training and equipping ground troops/warships? Perhaps you should look at altering their AI building priorities to make the USA more useful in those areas.

Took me a while, but I've caught up on the AAR now. It's good to be back.

@ DeSota: Yeah, hurray for Russians! :D

@ Kaiser Mobius: I agree, Americans have odd strategy. I checked them out and they are not using their IC to increase their military numbers. But it looks like they are prefering quality over quantity. They are mostly building advanced aircraft, light fleet for expeditionary warfare (advanced armed transport ships and amphibious assault platforms, and some modern light ships for escort), marines and air cavlary (air mobile infantry). It also seems they will try to be suppliers and creditors of allied economies (as many times IOTL), due to massive production of supplies and large stocks of money. They don't want to sacrafice their men on foreing battlefields (fortunately they are at least in UNA, they can't bear Germans due to experiences from the past, but they are also a bit angry on Canadians for supporting the Confederates). Luckily, Canadians and Confederates are producing a large ammounts of land forces. Confederates are constantly training large numbers of mechanized infantry, while Canadians are combining motorized infantry with tanks. Of course we shouldn't forget on strong Canadian naval and air forces.

@ TemplarComander: Welcome back, it's great to have you on board!

Thanks for comments, everyone!

Cairo, 18 January 2012

In the underground bunker of king's palace in Cairo, several high officials of French, Egyptian and Greek armed forces had an urgent meeting. They were also maintaining video conference with New York and Tokyo. The most notable people present were French President Dassault, Prime Minister Renault, General Le Muffen, Egyptian king Faruq III, Field Marshal Tantawi (also Colonel of UNA Counter-Intelligence Service), airforce General Mubarak, admiral Selim, Lieutenant General Amides (competent female commander, comming from notable Coptic Egyptian family which rose during reformation of Egyptian kingdom into progressive secular monarchy some decades ago) and Greek admiral Gousis.

Situation was indeed critical. After Greeks joined Entente (later merged with Tokyo Pact into UNA), relations with Mitteleuropa got much worse. Greece was quickly surrounded by strong forces of her hostile neighbours and Entente forces started to flock into Greece. The greatest part of foreign forces that were quartered in Greece were Canadian armies. Other Entente members like France and Egypt sent mostly military instructors, while Canada sent two large formations of land forces to Greece. Some aicraft of variour Entente nations were also sheltered in Athens, with Canadians having the biggest share again.

However, Mitteleuropa didn't look on such behaviour kindly. Things went critical when Canadians prepared to send another large shipment of personel and military material to Greece. Canadian transport fleet, escorted by carrier group, was halted at Gibraltar. Mitteleuropa issued a warning that all straits controled by Mitteleuropa are closed for all UNA military wessels due to ''shameless provocations of United Nations Alliance''.

Russian fleet was trapped in Baltic.

Germans had closed the Suez Canal and started to reinforce the canal area.

Gibraltar was closed by Spanish from both European and African side.

Germany and Ostafrika controlled the passage to Red Sea via Yemen and Djibouti.

Persians controlled strait of Hormuz, closing the Persian Gulf for military vessels and even threatening to block the supply of oil from Persian Gulf.

Entrance to Black Sea was controlled by Turkey.

Canada halted it's fleet and waited for diplomatic development. Since Mitteleuropa refused to re-open the straits, UNA decided to close UNA-controlled straits to respond to Mitteleuropean actions. The strait of Malacca was the only UNA-held strait.

The only strait left open now was Panama Canal under control of neutral country of Panama.

Situation reached it's peak when one of Canadian transport ships approached to close to Gibraltar. Nobody knows if this move was intendent or not, the fact is that this event started the new Weltkrieg. By mistake or not, despite Mitteleuropean warning, one of transport ships went to close to restricted area. Spanish coastal missile baterry fired a projectile towards the ship and vessel was hit. After the explosion, the ship sank so fast that only a few soldiers on board survived. With officers on the bridge dead and no report about situation before the explosion found, it was never discovered why did the vessel approach the restricted area. However, it was clear that captain's mistake, carelessness or foolish boldness started the new world war.

Reaction of UNA was quick. Fast communication between Cairo, Tokyo and New York, where most important leaders of UNA were located at this time, resulted at short message to Russian embassy in Berlin. Tuvan section of Russian embassy in Berlin sent formal declaration of war to German foreign ministry via fax machine. This was sign of UNA mockery against Mitteleuropa, as the most minor member formally declared war on great force like Germany. Germans were so angry that they later refused to exchange the embassy personel of UNA. However, agreement was soon achieved and Mitteleuropa and UNA exchanged all of their diplomatic personel via neutral Ireland. This formal declaration of war was the rare case of 21st century, as most of modern wars started with de facto creation of war stance via openly expressed hostilities.
