Colonel Augusto Weissmüller
Born 1830
Hometown: Santiago

Son of Jochen Weissmüller and the Italian immigrant Sofia Largo (married Weissmüller). When his father died when he was young his grandfather Karl Weissmüller raised him and sponsored his entry into the military, since his grandfather felt the Weissmüller family needed influence there, and because he realized Augusto was not a man of learning, so sending him to a University would be a waste of money. Augusto has served under many skilled officers and have served in the war against Argentina, as well as in campaigns against the Viceroyalists.

Your Imperial Majesty, I colonel Augusto Weissmüller, grandson of Karl Weissmüller submit to your mercy. Use my abilities as you see fit and assign me to where you feel I am most needed.

Your loyal servant,
Colonel Augusto Weissmüller

Members of the court. In the next five years as we construct the imperial armada the Emperador has requested, we will require an admiral. Any suggestions?

I will serve once there is a fleet to command. There is little demand for a foreign minister at this time. It would also be better to have a proven imperialist at the helm, so to speak, and allow another member of the court the opportunity to do the same in my current role.

All hail the brave Republicanos who killed the tyrant Carrera. All Chileans can rejoice at his death at the hands of the people. Viva Libertad, Viva Chile

General Pedro Rivera - Republicano Militia

"This is what you so Viceroyalists have lowered yourselves to? Assassinations? No one should rejoice in this glorious generals death, especially you, the viceroyalists. I will make sure Colonel Weissmuller is avidly aware that capturing the masterminds of this assassination plot are of his highest priority. I am dangerously close to ending the offer of amnesty to viceroyalist leaders."

-Emperor Cesar I

Emperor Cesar I forgets how he and his goons celebrated Santandera's death. It isn't that hard to expose the emperor's lies. Those who side with him know that he is a crook and a liar, but place their bets after him because they seek power or get personal gains from this tyranny. Personally, I don't celebrate deaths, and even if it were Cesar's death by my hand, I would grant him a state funeral.

Carerra was a good general of Chile, despite his support of the royalists. I would urge my fellow free Chileans to avoid the unneeded bloodshed of assassinations, especially when the target is not hunting or attacking them. It was no doubt a brave action - or foolish as some might put it - but as dishonorable as the royalists we are fighting. Democracy is not held up by wanton assassinations.

- Admiral Alvarez

Excerpt from the Journal of Marshal Carerra

... It is with great regret that I ordered the assualt on our people's defenses in the capital city of Santiago. Even with repeated requests for surrender for the vice-royalist forces and their commanding officer, former General Santandera, these misled people have refused security for their lives. Can they not see that the old order was corrupt and worthless? They have a chance to escape with their lives and families safe, and fair trials established for the Republicanos.

I take no joy in signing the death warrents of civilians, but the deed must be done, and history shall know that I take full responsibility for what occured. The city ended in ruins after days of fighting, and several thousand for both our sides dead. Sebastián led the assualt on the eastern side of the city, the first to reach the Congresso. He has grown much from the first day I met him courting my little Isabella, I will be able to eventually rest easily knowing he may be chosen to replace me in our army.

Watching the bodies of uniforms and civilian clothing being dragged back to the field hospitals bring me back to my memories fighting against the Spanish. Is this what we fought so long and hard to acquire Independence for? Thousands of civilians and soldiers killing each other street by street, house by house? Cesar must know he will not be able to keep the people on his side if the army must continually put down these vice-royalists like this.

There have been rumors from the fighters captured that Santandera has been killed. Such a waste, this fighting had accomplished. He was a braze man, and did not deserve death. No one should face a firing squad for their actions, no matter how ignorant they may or not be. If only he and his men had surrendered, the city would still be intact, and fair trials could have been established to determine whether or not there were any traitors amongst the Republicanos.

My old soul may not be able to keep up much more of this, but there can be no going back. I have made my decisions, and I will be forced to stick with it for the rest of my life. All I can do now, is try to save as many people as I can, be they vice-royalist or imperialista. I was lucky enough to be able to make a small accomplishment earlier this day. A small group of my soldiers were escorting a family to be interrorgated by the Security Ministry. It was quite obvious that they knew nothing, but it was also obvious that they were members of the resistance. I could not stand it either way, and ordered the troops to stand down and let the family go, as well as releasing their property to them. Our soldier must learn that these are still our people, no matter what uniform or arm band they wear....

I regret the deaths of so many people, be they Imperialistas or Republicanos. I am sad to see that so much bloodshed is necessary in order to attain progress for the Chilean people and to rid Chile of an old, broken system, and I am sad to see that such a matter would divide us so bitterly. May all those who have shed blood be remembered for forever and a day

I welcome you, Sebastián, and I look forward to working with His Majesty's son in the future.

((King, you might want to change your sig.))

In the spirit of Marshal Carerra's heroic life and bold vision of unity, I propose this flag as a permanent replacement for the provisional flag so graciously offered by Mr.Caviezel :

My suggestion of course, is to alter this design - which refrains from the cross of burgundy - to possess the black eagle, instead of the star, in the center of the crest; as proposed by the artful Mr.Caviezel. That way we have a flag representing the New Order, with a new symbol of that order, without relying on the symbols of the cursed Spanish.

I suggest that it be voted on during the court's vote for the Prime Ministership.

[[ hmm, with the black eagle in the crest, that is not wanting to throw out Caviezel's design entirely, the crest probably needs to be big and in the center, eliminating the badge of blue entirely. Hmmm ]]

The death of all the imperial tyrants is good and honourable. The Chilean people dance and rejoice at the coward Carrera's death. May the Carrera name be cursed for all time. All the imperial leaders should be aware that they are not safe anywhere in Chile, as the Chilean people see you as the enemy. The Republicano Militia will hunt you all down and kill all enemies of the Chilean people and republic. Libertad o Muerte!. Sic semper tyrannis. As the great Americano Thomas Jefferson said "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants"

To the families of the brave Republicanos who gave their lives for the republic, your loved ones died with great honour, as Chilean martyrs for liberty and the republic. There names and families shall be known and honoured for all time. They are with god now but forever in our hearts.

I agree with Admiral Alvarez. As I have stated many times, I do not wish to see these men dead, at least not from assassination, murder, or other such horrors, regardless that they knowingly, and some, joyfully commit such actions against the Republicanos. I served with General Carrera, and respected (if not agreed) him.

If we are to govern the Republic once this "Empire" has fallen, let us show the people of Chile that we do not wantonly kill; nor do we execute without reason. We will put these men on trial, not kill.

However, I do not entirely dismiss the actions of those men who slew Carrera; he did resist and kill several of their rank. I simply wish to better organize, coordinate, and lead the Republicanos so that we can seize our enemies, rather than execute them.

"Have you no shame Mr. Rivera? You are obviously not a man of honor, and I hereby revoke any amnesty you may attempt to seek in the future, as well as authorize your execution by Chilean Security Forces."

I stand by all statements I have made and do not want any amnesty from a tyrant. You are the one who should be begging for amnesty from the Chilean people. As a military man I fight for liberty and will use all means necessary to remove your traitorous regime from power. The greatest honour is to die fighting for ones nations freedom. Libertad o Muerte! There shall be no peace in Chile until your tyranny is ended one way or another. My men will not rest until all members of your regime are dead. Santa Rosa and the rest of the politicians can make nice statements but my men and myself will do what is necessary to bring liberty to Chile. If you will not step down peacefully then your regime will be brought down by the gun.

"Rivera, your actions are costing us the moral high ground. We do not want to lower ourselves to their level. Although we want to bring down the regime, we must not tarnish ourselves with underhanded fighting. I do not object to what they did - remove Carrera - but how they did it; by ambushing him on a journey. I'd rather kill them off by peaceful means."

Although, it's not as if that assassination was by Republican hands, more like King's hands. :p
Anyways, when's something happening? My character has nothing to comment on at the time.))

((Who says my characters don't go in both the imperial and republican direction? Why else would I have written that excerpt from Carerra's journal?

And I know Seek, my sig is always updates days after I start a new character due to sheer laziness.))
