How about a Kurdish homeland aswell?
I think a radical feminist, anti-fascist, "free love", pro-other stuff movement involving Edna St. Vincent Millay, Edmund Wilson, and their circle of friends; most of whom were socialists (yes, real ones). Perhaps the events in the VSVR would have moved Wilson to emigrate and start a political career. Perhaps, Wilson asking her to accompany him (she probably wouldn't have), Millay comes to the VSVR to try and promote a like-minded society.
Of course, Wilson's associates were... different. Trying to gauge what their political ideals might have been could be difficult, taking some research. And then it is ambiguous as to whether Millay really approved of her own lifestyle, or if she was simply inspired to write about it. Some of her later poems, like "What Lips My Lips Have Kissed" showed disdain for the way she lived. It might be challenging for a politician's views to change with their hormones. Or interesting. That someone would campaign for something their entire life, then make a reversal - might be something to write about.
A Cultural Revolution, you say? That could make for a very... interesting 1920s.

So does anyone think the minorities will actually get their own nations, after the vote? Because the nationalism part of the NatComs is why I'm voting for the Marxist-Leninists

We must unite the world and end the perverse idea of nationhood. It is a bourgeois lie, a petty delusion, that divides men when we should all stand united around our common nature as human beings. The nation must die so that Humanity may rise in its stead. To secure peace tomorrow we must fight today and in so doing we will save billions even as millions are sacrificed. We must fight the capitalist and separatist powers until all the world is united in communism, until all men and women are free. We must fight and die in our generation for the sake of all coming generations, for the sake of the dignity of the human race.
War is not only inevitable, it is necessary. I suggest we rebuild our armies and the armies and economies of our allies to prepare for another great war within the next ten years. Our targets we should take as the opportunity arrives, but China is a threat that should be faced sooner rather than later. That ancient empires great potential is surely not yet fully harnessed, their economy must be struggling to compete with the imperialist powers and their armies, while impressive in number, are obsolete and feeble. The prevailing poverty and disgusting exploitation of the people together with the traditional chinese virtues of individual responsibility to the collective and the collective care for the individual mean that there is fertile ground for our ideals. The Chinese people may well greet us as liberators if we can see past our dogmatic stance on the peasantry and fully embrace them into the cause. And if China joins us the balance in Asia and the world will irrevocably tip to our side. Then the world may truly be united.
Marxist economics have served us well at home. State control of the economy is a necessity, especially as we expand the territory of the state. History has proven that fact. Council-communism and trade unionism are far weaker tools for the purpose of reconstruction.
A constitution would be useful, unless written by liberals with the intention to weaken the state while the state is still necessary. We should respect the individual liberties of our people as long as they do not overly hinder the functioning of society or interfere with the freedoms of another. Respect their privacy and educate them but keep gods and devils where they belong, in fairy-tales and history-books.
Culture must be free to be a tool of the revolution. That may seem a paradox, but necessary to produce works of sufficient relevance and worth to touch peoples hearts and minds. A globalized cultural environment must be encouraged to weaken national divisions over time. Humanity can only be united at gunpoint, but must be kept united by common economic interest and cultural bonds.
We should strive to further the unification of the Comintern gradually but with unyielding determination. National soveregnty is an evil that must be abolished.

Because the National Socialists are they are commonly known are completely at odds with the ideas the the VSVR represents...?
I think that the National Communists will probably evolve in that direction if we fail to weaken our national identities. That people in this day and age still think of themselves as germans, walloons, bambara, polish or whatever, is beyond me. It demeans us all. Bah!
I do. I don't support that, but I support them electorally. They most closely represent my ideas on the direction the Republic should take. Everyone else is either a statist, pandering to statists or reactionary in one shade or another.
Might I suggest, Tommy, that you put a stop to this? Make it a rule that you can't change your vote? It would end the headache for you trying to correct it all, help minimise errors in vote counting, and prevent people from making last minute changes that radically alter the outcome. That's not fair to people who don't change their vote at a whim to ensure their second preference gets in when their first preference isn't performing the way they wanted it to.
Think first, then vote people, and for Marx' sake, stick with it! It's not that complicated!
I'd much more prefer a secret vote, but I'd guess then we get people arguing that Tommy fixed the results...
