that is correct, for the most part.

basically this is how it is working, according to Paradox's own description in the threads posted on the subject already :

Outside developers license the rights to develop the old engine from Paradox to create an expansion.

If Paradox approves of the expansion created, it will be sold on Gamersgate for a price relative to the amount of new content included in the expansion pack. (In one case I know from HOI, the team is developing a bug-fix only, and Paradox has said that it will distribute the fix free, provided it only fixes existing bugs and does not add new content).

Paradox retains exclusive rights to distribute the expansion on Gamersgate, and any profits generated from sales of the expansion are split between Gamersgate and the outside developers.

Lets say a mod is sold at 5 dollars at gamersgate. How much will gamersgate take, how much will go to the developers and how much will go to paradox?
You got any idea?

i can not go into details due to NDA. those who are interested in pursuing their own potential development plans should send an application to begin the process and see the terms themselves if Paradox gives initial approval, and if they are not agreeable then no harm, no foul, nothing has been signed.

I'm getting told the following:

"Cannot create the following file: GFX\Interface\generals\tur_gen_kaziminan?$$A you will have to run this utility again to install"

Tried downloading from multiple sources, but nothing works. My computer is set to Chinese language, so would that cause the problem? I don't understand why it's giving me a problem.

No socialist/communist?

I am playing VIP 0.2 grand campaign with Russia. Year is 1897 and i still dont have any of those 2 parties while socialist have 10% support among citizens.
If remember from earlier while i was playing Revolution i got those parties much earlier.
So was something changed about it, or i did something wrong?

with VIP we try to be more historical with when parties become available, with socialist and communist movements, that means they generally do not appear until they historically developed in those nations.

For Russia the first socialist party, the Sotsial-Demokraticheskaya Partiya, appears in 1898, so you will get it in another year provided you have either right to ban or all parties allowed for your party tolerance settings in the political reforms section. The first Communist Party comes in 1903 with the Partiya Bolsheviki, while the Partiya Mensheviki will replace the first Socialist party in 1903 if it is not in power. You will also get the Partiya Sotsialistov-Revolutsionerov as another socialist party in 1901.

We also do have parties that trigger only by event, including revolutions, so if for example your communist were to rise in rebellion and seize power, the Partiya Bolsheviki would come to power by event, but otherwise it will not appear until the historic date.

Byelorussian and Ukranian becoming state culture in Russia

First of all my apologize for posting this question in wrong subforum.

So, how do i free serfs? And will it convert Krepsotnoy to Russians and make Byelorussian and Ukranian state cultures?

Hm I thought I answered the question.

Krepostnoy are freed and converted to Russian, and Belarusian and Ukrainian become state culture when you get the free the serfs event.

there are two versions of the event :

1) If you lose the crimean war, (evt 2501 in scenarios/VIPscent/events/vanilla/Russia.txt) and choose in the earlier event on the Post-Sevastopolian thaw (evt 251001 in scenarios/VIPscent/events/VIP_Russia.txt) to reform (any choice other than maintain absolute monarchy/status quo - option C), then starting in 1861 the event to free the serfs and make Belarus & Ukraine national POPs should fire.

2) If you won the Crimean War (got the event that declared you the winner) or chose not to launch the Crimean War or got the Tsar of All Slavs then you get this version (evt 2516 in scenarios/VIPscent/events/vanilla/Russia.txt) which can fire starting as early as 1855. Note it has a 1 in 6 chance of firing each time the triggers are checked, but the event triggers are checked until 1935 so you should get the event at some point if you meet the other trigger criteria.

I did lost crimean war and chose grand reforms but i dont remember event 2501 firing, one about abolishment if i am correct.

So can i fix it somehow?

Did you get the event that you lost the Crimean War?

Shomi said:
No as i remember, just signed peace treaty with Otomans and Later with Frenchs with returning to status quo.

ah that is the issue then, the event is based on the Russians having the peace treaty event.

has to be that way otherwise if you just have the event based on won_war trigger with TUR beating RUS, the way the game mechanics work would have it fire if Russia went to war with TUR earlier and lost, so that when the Crimean War did start, it would automatically stop because of Russia's earlier defeat.

Plus in the example you gave, you actually would have lost the war to FRA, not TUR, since you made the deal with FRA. (yes it's very complex, and causes all sorts of headaches to modders).

there is unfortunately no trigger to specify losing a specific war in Victoria, just having lost any war. Which means if you fight earlier wars and lose, it will trigger lose war events for later scripted wars. Even with flags set to specify that a certain war has started.

So in other words, the Crimean War is scripted, and if you want to lose it, just wait for the event to fire (requires that you have lost about 16 provinces to occupying forces and no TUR provinces be occupied).

My advice, if you have a save from before you made peace to end the Crimean war, start the game over from that point.

Shomi said:
Could i edit something in save game file or somewhere else since i dont like the idea of letting them have 16 provinces of mine and my industry is stagnating now...

you'd not lose the provinces permanently, the event fires if they are occupied, but you get them back in the peace event.

But if you want to edit your file, you will need to do the following :

in the flags section of the savegame file where it lists all the flags set in the game there will be 2 lines

flg_russia_noserfdom_all = 0
flg_russia_noserfdom_russia = 0

change the 0 to 1 for both these lines and save the savegame file. It should then fire the free the serfs event.

I think that fixing the outcome of the Crimean War was one of VIP's greatest inputs. No longer is Finland doomed to become English and Georgia French. Indeed, the Russia losing event just has you cede the province of Ismail to Moldavia. :)
