Would be even worse for them if I still had a U-Boat arm of my fleet. Royal Navy carriers ripped them to shreds.

Now if only you'd have had a Hochseeflotte, you could have been able to prevent this ^^
Just kidding, thats not doable in this kind of game. But it would be GLORIOUS

The Kriegsmarine Schlachtflotte is actually pretty beastly, has lost a lot, but still formidable. Two Bismark Class battleships, four Deutschland Class 'pocket battleships", six heavy cruisers of various classes, the two outdated battlecruisers Schlesien and Schleswig-Holstein, and a slew of light cruisers and destroyers. There is also one weak escort carrier, and a full fledged fleet carrier in later stages of building. It's pretty strong, even if it lost a number of capital ships to RN carriers in the Norway invasion.

Unmistakable, this is without a doubt original footage of the first German forces landing in Scotland, initiating Unternehmen Seelöwe.

Overlord

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!
You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have
striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The
hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you.

In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on
other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war
machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of
Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well
equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1942! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of
1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats,
in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their
strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home
Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions
of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men.
The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to
Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in
battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great
and noble undertaking.
SIGNED: Harold Alexander
In the early hours of August 4th, the Western Allies once again launched an attempt to assail the Atlantic Wall. There is unfortunately a large gap in our coastal defenses in the area of Pas-de-Calais caused by the transfer of troops North to the Norwegian Front. Four divisions were landed: the American 33rd Infantry, Canadian 31st and 29th Infantry, and the South African 12th Infantry.

The Fuhrer believes this is merely a diversionary operation to draw our divisions back from Norway, and he is backed up in this line of thinking by a number of spineless Nazi Party officers in high ranking positions. The beliefs do have some merit, as previous invasion efforts have been weak and unsupported, but this might be the big one.Luftwaffe reconnaissance efforts have spotted a massive armada of hundreds of Royal Navy ships of all classes. Fleet Carriers, Escort Carriers, Battleships, Heavy Cruisers, Light Cruisers, Destroyers, Gun Boats, Transports, Landing Craft, Assault Craft. The Royal Air Force is buzzing about like bees in the airspace over the English Channel, this is bigger than anything Heeres Gruppe West has seen. One can see the scale of the invasion merely by looking at the insignia found on enemy uniforms. Infantryman of each of the four divisions landed in presumably the first wave of many have a different corps shoulder patch. Patches from the US V Corps, Canadian VI and II Corps, and the British II Corps have been spotted with the advancing divisions. **There obviously must be many more than 4 divisions, but how many we do not know**

Either way, whether it is a diversionary attack, or the long awaited full invasion of Fortress Europe, more divisions are needed than the garrison units currently in the area. The first responders will be the incomplete "divisions" of the LV Panzerkorps. The only complete and fully equipped division is the 24th Panzer, while the other 4 are lacking support brigades and battalions of various types. For the most part these four divisions don't have artillery larger than regimental level, don't have StuG ableitungs, and lack specialized anti-tank besides their panzers. The korps is also lacking korps level artillery, flak, and infantry support battalions. If they can hold on till September they can be equipped with these much needed provisions.

Despite Hitler and his cronies' obstructions, OKH Chief Kurt Zeitzler and OKW Chief Wilhelm Adam have managed to authorize the transfer of von Weichs' 4th Panzerarmee from the Eastern Front to France. This decision was reached due to a few factors: A. No divisions can be transferred from the critical front in Norway, so men must be pulled from the East; B. The 4th Panzerarmee hasn't seen offensive action since the late autumn of last year, and there won't be any more Eastern offensives if the Western Allies gain a foothold from which to liberate Western Europe; C. The 1st SS-Leibstandarte of the 4th PZA's 1st SS Korps will be ready for redeployment in a few days, and will without a doubt be sent to France, so a fraction of the Armee will already be there; D. Heeres Gruppe Mitte already has the 3rd Panzerarmee and 8th Italian Armata acting as non-committed and fresh reserve formations, so the loss of the 4th won't be a rough hit. Nevertheless, this transfer could take weeks, so Field Marshal von Kluge must make due with the divisions in his disposal.

On the bright side, the mopping up of the Zhaskiv pocket is nearly complete. The Jugoslawien and Rumanien armees are pressing from all sides on the last holdouts in the city of Uman, they are expected to capitulate in light of their hopelessly pitiful situation. The last actions of many of the already surrendered divisions have proved to be both honorable and stubborn. Desperate breakout attempts and last stands, primarily by the armored divisions of the 1st Mechanized Armiya, have left thousands dead from both sides. These bloody battles of mopping up have no effect on the campaign of course, but provide an excellent example of the resilience and courage of the our Soviet opponents. Despite all the propaganda about Russian soldiers being spineless dogs, they have proven themselves worthy matches for our soldiers on the field of battle, and often fight to the last.

In the North the LVIII Korps and LI Jagerkorps are pushing unopposed through the Karelian Isthmus and are preparing to launch a small probing offensive to liberate Helsinki spearheaded by the Grossdeutschland Division. Generals Ringel and Raschick are advancing with the utmost caution as to not suffer the fates of so many German divisions sent to Finland, so we hope they can liberate our ally and maintain the intactness of their commands.

As we now have new positions along the west bank of the Dnieper River, men are needed to hold these positions. As the 1st and 2nd Panzerarmees are being pulled off the line temporarily, there will be a few gaps in the line. These are to be soon filled by our Hungarian brothers in arms. Following the summer and autumn campaign of the previous year, the Hungarian 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Hadtests (Armies) were pulled off the line for refitting with the Romanian Armees. The Hungarian industry was hard at work over the winter to equip her soldiers with modern equipment, and the resulting new and reorganized divisions are forces to be reckoned with. The Hungarian Army has always been large, and although it's divisions were numerous they lacked hitting power. Now they have now been almost tripled in size, from 2-3 infantry regiments and maybe 1 artillery regiment to 5 infantry regiments, 2 artillery regiments and the occasional anti-tank battalion. In fact, the infantry divisions of our allies are both larger and equipped with more artillery than the standard line division of the Heer. Numbering nearly half a million, the deployment of the 1st and 2nd Hadtest should enable Heeres Gruppe Sud A/B to possibly launch and offensive into the Crimean peninsula or to Rostov-on-Don as spring boards for future offensives into the Caucasus. Lord knows Hitler wants a gateway into those mountains and the Oil at Majkop and Baku...

**Due to the variety in this specific landing, and the seemingly random assortment of expeditionary forces under British command, I decided to challenge myself. Tagging over to the US, Canada, and Britain, I put together a force similar to the one that was landed on and following D-Day historically. I also used the teleport cheat to immediately transfer the divisions to Britain to simulate a long build up. The invasion force is for the most part infantry, but the British XXX is primarily armored as historically. 5 Armored Divisions, including the large and powerful Guards Armored division. I think this will make my situation interesting, and I may get a desperate defensive campaign that most HoI3 German campaigns don't feature

I know markkur wanted a key for the units, so I made a quick one that can just outline a few common land units. If you guys want more, especially for navies/air forces I will make them. I will also place this on the cover page for easy access.

Oh damn, a D-Day. That's the last thing you needed right now. Its probably indeed a good idea to take direct control of Hungary and Romania (Italy too?) It is tough enough already without the AI screwing up what help it could give.

Btw how come your mp is jumping up and down so much (last 2 screenshots for example) From the bright side the UK is also pretty much out.

Well, I found my issue, I had ordered 5x3 infantry divisions. So I quickly knocked those off in favor of 2x2. Fixed that issue for a bit.

As far as my allies, I already have conscripted the best equipped Balkan divisions. The Italians have a number of divisions sitting in Italy and Greece, so I may draw from that.

Will the mounting pressure in the west force the fuhrer to consider deploying the refitted Hungarian army in France? Where are you planning to draw reinforcements from first if the allies breakout?

Well the the 4th panzerarmee with 4 panzer divisions and 4 panzer grenadier divisions is being sent from the center of the front right now. The next reinforcements will come from the south most likely. Once the Hungarians get there I'll have 11 armees, which is way too many for the dnieper bend.

but many of those units won't be Heer units, so I don't trust their abillity to resist a full Soviet attack
