Excuse me, oh record keeper of our fair country, you have me marked as a former Chancellor, though I have never held the post. My grandfather did, that is true, but I have not.

~Johannes Carile, Commander of the Corps of the Gendarmerie, and Co-Leader of the DLP

((I have served my two terms as chancellor OOC, but this current character hasn't been much more than a minister in government, and party leader))

The Chief Justice will no doubt correct me if I err, but I believe the 2 term restriction is per player, not per character.

Ballot:

1. Safety Regulation - Aye
2. Republic Preservation Act - Nay
3. Move National Day = Abstain, until the proposal is completed
4. Lower Office-holding Age - Nay
5. Create Naval Department - Nay

Gutfreund, Chancellor

((It is. It's why I can never be Chancellor again. ;_; ))

((It was not a failure of government that we had so many of the same players as Prime Minister or President, it was a failure of the opposition to resist and if they succeeded in it, to maintain their power))

((Seriously, Marschalk, Andre, Magister, and me are the only leaders who actually completed more than one term))

1. Safety Regulation: Aye
2. Republic Preservation Act: Nay
3. Move National Day: Nay- This new holiday would ignore the contributions Wilhelm Rainer made toward the creation of our democracy. Without him we may have become a Roman style dictatorship.
4. Lower Office-holding Age: Aye
5. Create Naval Department: Nay

-Herr Liberator

The point isn't to discount Rainer's contributions, the point is to recognize that we've been celebrating a holiday of little relevance to the day we actually became a Republic.

((What I meant was that Johannes has never been chancellor. Fredrick has, but Johannes hasn't, and with the game's rules, never will.

Give me some time until I get home, before I vote.))

1. I support the proposed safety regulations.

2. I oppose the so-called Republic Preservation Act. I do not see that placing unconstitutional restriction on future government will serve to preserve very much at all.

3. I shall abstain for now on the Friedrich-Rainer Day Reogranization Act, as I will require time to evaluate the historical accuracy of Frau Rafanelli and Herr Liberator's statements.

4. I strongly oppose the lowering of the age to hold office. Anyone who is to represent the people of the Republic should most emphatically be required to have life experience outside of politics. I have no wish to see 'lifetime politicians' graduate straight from university into a Reichstag seat. Without experience of the real world; such a politician would not have the slightest idea as to the consequences of his decisions.

5. In past decades, we have seen Ministers of War neglect the navy in favour of the army, to be followed by successors who neglect the army in favour of the navy. I believe a distinct Department of Navy, independent of the Army, will serve to ensure both receive equal attention in government policy; I therefore support the Naval Department Creation Act.

And furthermore, I have some announcements I wish to make. First, I would like to make it clear that I do not wish to be put up for election to my third term as President of Italy. As far as I am concerned, two terms is quite enough.

And secondly, I would like to announce that I shall be stepping down as Leader of the Conservative Party and retiring from the Reichstag upon the next election. Though I shall serve the rest of my term as Assemblyman for Trent, at the end of my term of office I shall be retiring to the back benches of the Italian Parliament, where I believe I can serve in a more advisory capacity.

With regards to 3, Herr Adimari,

The Republic was declared on September 16, 1696 by the Friedrich IV von Hohenzollern, the last Kaiser. This is verified by historical records available to my office.

- Chief Historian of the Reichstag

((I figured this one out by looking through the last leg of the RP, when we became a Republic.))

1. Abstain
2. Nay
3. Yea
4. Nay
5. Nay

I wish to thank Herr Adimari for his years of service to the Conservative Party since its very foundation, and his impending retirement truly marks the end of an era in our party's albeit short history.

~ K. F. von Hohenzollern, Chief of the General Staff

NEWS BULLETIN

With Herr Adimari withdrawing from the race to be President of Italy for the third term, the Italian Assembly met today to discuss the election of a new President. Citing her principled stand on Italian issues, 52 members of the Italian Assembly selected Clarissa Rafanelli-Askanier to be the new President of Italy.

((I love how so far the only presidents Italy has had have all been Unionists. :p))

((Yeah, I'm starting to think dice rolls may not be the best way to handle the election...))
Edit: ((I might try to create a new mechanism for choosing president to apply to future elections, but for now it might be best just to accept the result as it stands.))

((why is a lot of people against my bill?)):(
((Don't take it personally. We are already having trouble filling required offices with active players, so adding another office is just going to make this AAR slow down even more.))

((;)))

I thank the Italian Assembly, and the people of Italy for this immense opportunity. We have great work to be done, and we shall see that it is done for the betterment of all people who live in Italy.

- Clarissa Rafanelli-Askanier
President of Italy

This list does not show every Chancellor to ever govern Germany, but it expressly demonstrates where the power of state lies. The Consuls of old, and the modern Chancellor share more than the Reichsprasident does with the Consul. After 1829, we begin with Chancellors of the Republic, rather than the Consul, whose office was abolished. This list should form a concrete continuity of state, beginning with Herr von Werl's overthrow of the Hohenzollerns in 1714 to the current ministry of Herr Gutfreund.

Of note, those whose historical records fail to mark a specific political affiliation are marked as Nonpartisan; those who are considered "Free Candidates" in the early Republic are marked as Nonpartisan. The Young Bavarians are simply the Imperialists with another name, as per historical records.

Updated to reflect latest changes in the lists.

As well, common colloquial names for some notable figures have been included:
"Staatsvater" for Herr von Hohenzollern, (State's father)

"der Eiserne Kanzler" for Herr von Bismarck, (The Iron Chancellor)
and "der Befreier" for Herr Meiningen, which he commonly goes by in day-to-day mail. (The Liberator)
