Personaly I have a feeling Mexico was overconfident about their borders, and that they might be poorly defended.

All goes well, good update Kaiser. :)

Mexico, with Spanish troops at its borders and receiving news of the surrender of both Guatemala and Panama, makes a ridiculous peace offer. The Spanish empire of course refuses.

Once again Brazilian troops run for their lives in the face of an overwhelming Caribbean league counterattack. The Brazilian army's inability to hold any territory captured in the south is worrying to Franco.

The assault on Mexico begins, although the Army is unable to take the Yucatan peninsula, it is able to take Villahermosa.

In Venezuela, the Spanish army lands unopposed in the Venezuelan rear, taking control of the country's vast oil fields.

Then, an all out attack from all sides begins on the Venezuelan capital.

The 90,000 Venezuelan troops resist fanatically, hoping to buy time for Colombian reinforcements to arrive. However, they are completely overwhelmed by the Spanish assault, and are forced to surrender.

Venezuela is incorporated into the Spanish empire. Their huge oil reserves will now help fuel the Spanish war effort.

In southern Europe, the Soviet union tries to bully Romania into handing over the area of Bessarabia. Romania, seeing how badly the red army performed in Finland, basically tells Stalin to shove his territorial claims up his communist ass. Stalin replies by declaring war.
romaniafights.png

Romania puts up a very brave and hard fight, including counterattacking into Styrj and actually causing large soviet armies to retreat multiple times. This hard resistance forces Stalin to the Negotiating table, and just like Finland, Romania loses only a few border areas, and retains its independence.

The stalemate on the Western front, which for a long while looked like it would turn into a repeat of 1914, is broken by German panzers, and large amounts of the French army are encircled in Belgium.

Germany marches into Paris, and France is on the brink of total collapse. Also notice the Hungarian flags, as Hungary had joined the Axis powers only a couple of months before.

Meanwhile, Italy joins the axis powers and invades Egypt.

Bulgaria, who had been thinking of asserting its claims on the constanta region, thinks twice after witnessing Romania's defiance to Stalin.

France surrenders. A new French government is set up in the central town of Vichy, while so called Free French forces vow to continue the fight from French colonies.

Spanish troops march into Mexico and attack the capital, Mexico city. With most of their forces further north, the Mexican army is powerless to stop the Spanish onslaught.

German success in Europe and Spanish ambitions have caused the Americans to accelerate their military buildup. Franco vows to match their efforts in any way possible.

Columbia is now the sole remaining member of the Caribbean league. They try to offer peace, but Franco refuses to hear of it.

Tensions are becoming high along the US/Spanish border. US troops are moving into defensive positions along their side, while Spanish forces begin to build up in ever growing numbers.

The exiled king of Spain, Alfonso the 13th, dies in Rome. Some in Spain mourn his loss, but many, including Francisco Franco, ignore it.

Spain's new carriers are finally complete and ready for battle.
carrierscompleted.png

After their sea trials, they are given a large escort of Destroyers and are deployed to Cuba. The reason is obvious. The US is extremely alarmed of the news of these new Spanish aircraft Carriers arriving in the Caribbean.

Hows IC looking?

Im too lazy to check ingame right now, but IIRC it is something like 327/270.

By the way. I am now perilously short on military leaders. I have only a half a dozen rear admirals at skill 0 left, and I have no more Lt.Generals and only a handful of full generals and field marshals left, with the rest being a bunch of Mj. Generals. I still have plenty of Air force commander though. Should I probably reinstate the old Spanish republican commanders? They have been going through re-education since 1936, :D Maybe Franco should declare them loyal and give them their old commands back?

If the answer is yes, how would I do it? Modding the save game or the leaders file for Nat Spain?

Nice, with those new carriers your navy should pose a real threat to the large navy of USA, the invasion will be hard though, the sooner you strike the better IMO as the USA will only get stronger.

New Spain is almost completely rebuilt!

Promote the skilled Mj. Generals, and over assign your admirals, they will quickly gain experience, and eventual promotion.

You could also give Air Force officers field commands, go into the files and switch them from Airforce to Army.

Nice job with the Mexicans. And what's up with the lame carrier names, why not a ARNE Francisco Franco? Other names could be Alfonso XIII and Jose Sanjurjo. Future carriers coudl have the names of your most succesful admirals, also of past kings and heroes.

Good update though. :)

Spanish war plans for the US are complete.
USAwarplan.png

The Spanish army will cross over the Mexican border in large numbers and move into Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Their primary targets will be the huge amounts of resources produced in Texas and the southwest, which will help cripple the US' ability to run their formidable industry. The army will also march into the Panama canal zone, preventing the US navy from quickly moving its vessels from the Pacific to the atlantic and Caribbean.

If possible, Spanish troops with Mechanized infantry will invade Florida by sea, hopefully cutting off any US troops there. Unfortunately, this might not be possible, due to a shortage of convoy vessels. If not, then these forces will join the ones from Mexico marching into texas. Then, Spanish troops will split off into smaller units, and try their best to cover as much ground as possible, encircling US army units along the way. It is possible that the allies could interfere in this endeavor, in which case the robust Canadian army might head south to battle Spanish forces. However, the allies, under the Spanish threat of seizing Gibraltar, might stay out.

The navy and air force will be tasked with battling the formidable US fleet, with the Air force bombing enemy vessels at port and at sea, while the navy attacks smaller groups of vessels, hoping to destroy as much enemy ships as possible.

Time is probably Spain's biggest enemy in this endeavor, for after a few months the US will be able to mobilize hundreds of thousands of troops to stop the Spanish invasion cold.

Time is also Hitler's biggest enemy, as German armies cross the Polish frontier and invade the Soviet Union.
Barbarossa.png

A comparison of Spanish vs US armies. The Spanish army has mobilized a very large and potent force, against the far smaller US army, which has only recently begun building up.
SpanishvsUsarmy.png

The US navy compared to Spain's is extremely formidable. They have a large amount of battleships and carriers with which to fight with. The Spanish navy will have to co-ordinate with the Air force to sink as many vessels as possible, and do their best to avoid taking any losses, especially in capital ships.
SpanishvsUSnavy.png

And finally a comparison of the Spanish vs US airforces. The US possesses a powerful ground attack ability, but Spain has the advantage in the number of fighters it can deploy. Hopefully, the Spanish airforce will be able to shoot down a large number of American bombers.
SpanishvsUSAirforce.png

Well, I don't see any flaws. Do you know where their main battlefleet is? Hopefully it is in the Pacific, so you can seal it off from yours.

Exciting update! :D

The US navy has positioned a massive amount of warships in Miami, in response to the Spanish land and sea buildup in the region. This is a threat that can not be ignored.
USmiamifleet.png

However on land, the US has moved the bulk of its troops away from the border! Perhaps they have thought that the threat has passed....

They are wrong. D-Day for the Spanish army begins in September of 1941.

Spanish troops move along the pacific coast, and take the city of Los Angeles.

At sea, the Spanish airforce begins bombing Us warships from the air, sinking and damaging numerous US warships.

The Canal zone is under Spanish army occupation, preventing the US from moving its warships quickly from one ocean to another.

Completely taken by surprise, and with Spanish troops rushing into Oklahoma, the US makes an absurd peace offer. Spain refuses.
Uspeaceoffer.png

The Spanish airforce has been the most effective arm of the Spanish Imperial military when it comes to sinking US warships. Within the first 2 months, the Carrier USS Ranger and the Battleships USS West Virginia and USS New Mexico have been destroyed.

Spanish troops conquer the city of San Francisco, one of the last few Pacific port cities under US control.
battleofSanFrancisco.png

The first major setback of the war. Spanish troops marching in the direction of Las Vegas are blunted by a ferocious American defense. A similar situation is developing in other sections of the front lines.
setback.png

Baton Rogue Louisiana becomes one of the bloodiest battlefields of the entire war. Although at first Spanish troops are able to cross the Mississippi, intense American counteroffensives drive them back, and a stalemate begins to ensue in the south along the banks of the soon to be called "Bloody Mississippi".
battleofBatonRouge.png

The first major fighting in Las Vegas ends in a Spanish victory, but once again large American reinforcements arrive and force the Spanish army out. Just like in Baton Rogue, stalemate begins to ensue.
battleofVegas.png

At sea, the Spanish carrier fleet makes its first major kill of the war. The USS Wasp is destroyed by the Spanish carriers.
waspdestroyed.png

However, a much larger US fleet arrives, and in the ensuing battle, the ARNE La Falange, one of the navy's first carriers, is destroyed, in exchange for 2 US light carriers, a heavy cruiser, and the Battleship USS California. The navy decides to retreat, so as not to lose more precious carriers.
battleinthegulf.png

With a bloody winter stalemate in the southern US states, the Spanish are able to give the Americans a surprise. Spanish vessels are able to sneak through the US navy's ring of steel along the eastern seaboard and land a large force of 140,000 Spanish troops, mostly mechanized infantry, in southern New Jersey. Their goal: To conquer Washington DC, New York, and other major northeastern industrial cities, and divert US troops from the main battlefields in the Southern states.
northeastraid.png

Columbia, who has been ignored due to the urgency of the war with the US, is given a peace offer. Franco's reasoning is that with Columbia out of the picture, hundreds of thousands of Brazilian troops will then be able to be freed up for combat duty further north. Columbia is offered a white peace, which its government quickly accepts.
peacewithcolumbia.png

Spanish army units in the northeast US begin to march out of the bridgehead into the surrounding areas.

Very nice, sir.

I'm assuming some sort of negotiated peace will eventually have to be offered, unless you wan't to go all over the world capturing their islands.

Nice update.
