Open Beta Patch 1.11.4 (Steam Only) (Updated Mk4) - Checksum b22c

Does this also fix the duplicated 5 year plan spirit when going historical Soviet (The Centre, with no civil war)?
I just tested this with the latest 1.11.4. Loaded to before completing 4th 5 year plan. Upon completion there were still two 5 year plan spirits. Again this is a historical Soviet playthrough.

Edit:

I will note that the game performance with the latest 1.11.4 is visibly improved. Bravo devs!

i posted this in the "known issues thread" 2 but since im playing with the beta i figured i shoud post it here too. Long story short, the AI seems to be unable to protect its supply lines, especially naval ones even if it has the ability to protect those.

I played 2 games (as the US and Germany) and managed to essentially deny the UK and Japan all supply with 100 naval bombers on the south china sea, forcing all japanese convoys to go around hawaii! (where they got sunk along the way) and as Germany with a 80 sub strong naval blockade of the atlantic. in both cases the AI simply set all sea zones to "do not enter" and cut itself off entirely. i checked with the console and both japan and the Uk woulve had the numbers of heavy fighters to contest the air zones, the same goes for ships for escorting duty. The AI also doesnt use enough fighters to protect their ships from even small naval bomber sqaudrons (size 50) - especially important since the early ship designs are so weak in AA.

I japans case it wouldve sufficed if it had realized that it doesnt need to send ships around hawaii to get to hawai, simply connecting india via railway to china would have sufficed.

In england's case it couldve and shouldve used its spotting planes, tac bombers and naval bombers and heavy fighters for asw work. if anything the english ai had too few naval and tac bombers

Also, AI germany still tries building a surface fleet over and over again

I like the stat changes, should bring mediums back where they belong.

I worry a little about the light tanks though, they are a little expensive atm(considering you need 60/bat) and could probably do with a ic reduction in the autocannon and small cannon to help bring it down.

Likewise i feel the heavy cannons need some boost to justify their cost(sa buff).

Cast armour also seems a little out of place atm, +20% IC cost for +10% armour, +2brk, +2def over welded is very expensive unless you really trim the design to bare bones.

Thanks for all the great work balancing this, its a mammoth task!

That's a 5 year old post which lists no way for a member of the community to sign up. What kind of beta testers do you have?
Unless they are actively recruiting, there isn't a way to sign up. You can still earn an invite based on that post. Typically, the sign up is at the beginning of development (for the base game not the DLCs). Once they have their Beta Team for a product they usually remove the sign-ups and only send invites to fill slots from attrition.

Firstly, I have to say great job on the upgrades to medium tank guns and stats! It wasn't exactly the changes I had in mind when I made a thread about the lack of a 1943 medium gun upgrade, but making the improved medium cannon equal to an old 1943 medium tank does the job just as well, better in fact because it takes less research. Thanks!

I've noticed that modern tanks cannot be used as flame support companies or as amphibious tanks with the amphibious drive module. Only Light, Medum, and Heavy versions of these exist. Is this intended, or a bug?

The war propaganda bug from 1.10.6 is still present in the current 1.11.4 beta patch. I created a bug report, which is linked below:

Regarding the fix for Brazil-Portugal, in my game Empire of Brazil doesn't go fascist during civil war anymore, but immediately goes Fascist after the civil war. It is not playable.
After checking the save I found that the problem is probably due to a Fascist March event happening to Empire of Brazil right after winning the civil war.
20211204211237_1.jpg

Suggestion: Maybe setting Empire of Brazil's Fascist support to 80% is too much. I would suggest setting it to something around 50% in the previous focus so that it doesn't turn Fascist so easily.

I couldn't repro this one, but just mentioning it in case useful - I got an "air supply" "high level" (very bad) alert for a region (Eastern Maghreb in this case) when it had no aircraft in it (and there was only one land unit, and it was in full supply and not showing any supply issues in terms of icons or tooltips). This is still pre-war, so no scope for allies to be draining the supply either. When I saved and reloaded it didn't come back, so not sure what was going on - I'll keep an eye out for any other alert malarkey.

More broadly - the supply alerts seem far more in-tune with the stated design goals of the system, which is a great step forward :)

Hey so the raid on Trotsky in mexico actually worked, but the subtle assasination backup plan is still going on. It's amusing, but I'd like that operative back!

- Fixed issue where some focuses would not lead to war with the right country if there was more than one Soviet Union or Stalinist Soviet Union didn't exist.
Does this mean democratic Germany won't be locked out of its focus tree if White Russia rises up? Right now, it requires the target to be communist, but only considers the Whites.

My take with the designer choices is that not all of them are meant to be super 'balanced'. Some choices like cast armour are meant to be kind of stupid - mixing cast armour, diesel electric engines and overlapping roadwheels is meant to produce an outrageous IC inefficient tank - but a tank that is very very powerful in a 1 on 1 fight. I think that's good design - it enables player choice between grand strategy efficiency or incredible efficacy but horrible overall efficiency, the classic T-34 vs Panther meme. Not everything needs to be equally competitive and efficient to make for a good game balance - e.g. the super heavy, they're just stupid to build most of the time but when you do use them damn they feel powerful.

Hello everyone!

We have setup an opt-in open beta branch for Barbarossa, aptly named open_beta. If the branch does not appear, restarting Steam should fix it.
This is meant for the brave souls who want to try out the upcoming fixes & balance changes early.
Contrary to normal releases this branch is a work-in-progress that has yet to go through our full release QA process, so while we try to keep relatively stable you may experience new issues or crashes.

You will notice that the version is 1.11.4 while the current live build is 1.11.2. This is because this branch includes both patch 1.11.3 that we intend to release next week and 1.11.4 that we aim for the week after that.
Finally, not mentioned in the changelog are a significant amount of performance optimizations that we believe will make the experience smoother for you.

Feel free to leave your feedback in this thread or in the bug report forum as usual, especially if you encounter new issues not present in 1.11.2, or if something marked as fixed in the below changelog still occurs for you.
