Meanwhile back in the Caucasus the Turkish forward positions where attacked by a russian force 3 times larger then them.

1943Febuary22Turkisharmyattacked-1.jpg

They had tanks, heavy tanks, artillery and even anti-air and the Turkish army was defeated. To counter this defeat an attack more to the East was made, pushing the lines further North there.

1943Febuary23response.jpg

Also, when the retreating Turkish army regrouped further South after a week they launched a daring attack on the Soviet Army at Bashanta with help of the Turkish troops more to the East. Even though the Soviet forces had tanks and artillery the attacks where a succes and the Soviet army retreated.

1943Febuary30battleofBashanta.jpg

The battle of Bashanta cost the lives of many Turkish soldiers though.

On March 4th Persia was fully annexed by Turkey, the way into India was now open to German tanks and Turkish infantry.

1943March4persiaannexed.jpg

Only 1 American division was positioned at the border though, but they knew the Turkish where coming so it will not be long before more Allied soldiers arrive. Seems the Japanese where well on their way towards India too, fighting more and more Allied troops, but they seemed to keep on advancing nevertheless. When the Turkish troops reached the border with India they where immediately attacked by Allied forces of every nationality, in 2 weeks time Allied presence increased times 6 and the Turkish army had to retreat as a result.

1943March20Indiainvasionfailed.jpg

Turkish troops, advancing from their frontline in the Caucasus where once again in an impossible position to hold their ground, the Turkish army from all over the countryside joined in on a massive attack to weaken the Soviet Armies so they can hold their positions finally, the German panzer division and infantry refused to join the combat however. So even though the Soviets where being defeated towards the East, in the West the Russians where just too strong for the Turkish forces. The operation failed, weakening the Axis hold on the Caucasus. The Turkish government put blame on the German army.

Oh man, i got so many screens coming up i have to narrow it down

Yeah, you should focus on just one front and defend the rest... Oh, and are those Americans still in Greece?

Stagnation, thats the word that was used when the heads of the Turkish army came together. In the South and East there where too many British, in the West Greece was occupied by too many Americans and in the North there where just too many Reds. Turkey was stuck, the only thing happening now was Turkish soldiers killing Soviets and the Turkish Airforce bombing the hell out of the Greek Islands, killing many Americans. For a breakthrough they needed tanks, artillery, mountaineers. But the Turkish army simply didn't have the resources to build that kind of heavy equipment. The Germans denied any control over their forces in any way, as did the Italians. Only thing Turkey could hope for was a breakthrough by the German army in Russia, connecting their lands with the Turkish, then the Soviet army will be broken and Moscow, Stalingrad and maybe even Leningrad reached.

In the early morning of April 3rd 1943 the Americans started what they called “Operation Torch” in Western africa, invading Morocco.

1943April3operationtorch.jpg

The Vichy French government gave up territorial hold of that part of Africa to the Italians and their forces in Morocco let American forces through. Italy was however in no way capable of defending that much territory as they where stuggling over control of Libya with the British, so far they had only been able to at least stay on the continent. When American forces would join the British from the West though things would get really messy. The Americans need to be stopped in their advance somehow.

As Operation Torch pressed the Turkish army to speed up the invasion of the SU they started a campaign in the North-East of Persia, heading for the region of Siberia in order to capture the Soviets critical industrial bases.

1943April12attacksnorthofPersia.jpg

They used the entire 3rd army, 6th army corps and 3rd militia army for the campaign, about 175,000 men, leaving from the regions of Baku and Northern Persia. Though the Soviets where thin on the location they did have a number of tanks in the region protecting their industry. These tanks would be worthy advisaries for the Turkish armed forces. The Turks had no airsupport and little to none heavy equipment. Still, they had numbers and backing of the Nazi's. Once the campaign started they had to find and capture industry fast though, before more Soviet forces would arrive(like tanks).

A month later though, the Soviets started a campaign of their own, after loosing some territory all the way to Kursk too the Germans they came back to the Caucasus again and defeated the Turkish-German forces standing on the edge of the mountain range.

1943May11caucasusagainattacked.jpg

Some Turkish reinforcements where on their way though, perhaps the Soviet advance could be halted. Chief of the Army Alparslan Türkes relied heavily on new Militia divisions in Anatolia to help defend against Amercians on the Greek Islands. Militia also popped up in Eastern Persia, planning to lock the British out of their country from India.

Wow, the Axis aren't doing too good now. It's up to the Germans to win or lose on the Eastern Front. And those Americans are getting dangerous too. :(

Oioi, soviets strong in Caucasus. How come?

Well, the German front is coming closer. So i guess whatever Soviet troops can be spared are easily reverted too the Caucasus.

Update:

------------------------------
A few months later the Turkish armed forces where able to send a new army to battle against the Americans in Greece, the army was brought there as the field marshals felt all the other fronts where reinforced enough, as well as the fact that if the Americans break out of Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria will be overrun.. Hopefully the Japanese could break the British in India and join their border with the Turks, while the Germans where on their way to Moscow in Russia. Advances in Russia where slow and the where a lot of casualties but it seemed to go well for the Nazi's.

On May 24th the British where spotted in the Persian gulf and the Aircraft carrier HMS glorious attacked the anchored Turkish fleet.

1943May24carrierstrikeatIraq.jpg

Minimal damage was done. But the British made their point, the Turkish fleet was to stay in their ports, convoys coming from and going to the Arabian Peninsula where very much in danger and there will be no troop transports over sea any longer.

The Germans had finally been able to corner Sevastopol and attacked the Soviet army stationed between Sevastopol and the strait in order to secure the flanks of the Turkish troops on the other side of the Black sea.

1943June7attackonsovietpeninsula.jpg

This however failed horribly. Hitler had become paranoid and recently took over many army decisions. He ordered only a small portion of their army on the peninsula to attack, while the rest would keep an eye on the city of Sevastopol. This however severely delayed the advances too the strait, giving the Soviets enough time to send troops from Sevastopol, doubling their initial strength in just a few hours. The attack was cancelled as a result. Only 50 soviet soldiers dead while nearly 300 on the Germans side, as well as some tanks. Lets hope Hitler would leave things over to Fedor Von Bock again. Hitler was busy taking control of the rest of France from the Vichy regime anyway.

Meanwhile the Americans had started a great attack in Greece and they defeated the large Romanian/Italian/Bulgarian armies in Larisa, causing them to scatter all over the place. Could be a big mistake by the USA though, now they are going to stretch their defenses.

Those Americans won't leave Greece easily with that amount of divisions. :D

Update:

---------------------------------
In order to support the morons of german soldiers fighting on the Krim peninsula the army of Field Marshal Cakmak started a full scale attack on the Soviet forces there in the middle of the night. The forces where quite disorganized from being cut off from the red army and constant attacks by Germans.

1943June27attackonKrimpeninsula.jpg

After 2 hours in the battle they had the Soviet militia retreating. When dawn broke the Turkish forces where able to make some severe casualties on the Soviet motorized division, with that and the fact they had just made the Germans retreat from their land they retreated back to Sevastopol. The German tank division that was on the side of the Turkish army agreed to advance onto the peninsula while the Turkish army would redirect their attention to the North.

1943June27victoryonpeninsula.jpg

Meanwhile things in Greece got from bad to worse as American forces reach the Greek Border, threathening Bulgaria directly. They seem unstoppable, there are hardly any troops beyond Greece. The eyes of the world turn to Bulgaria. The Americans have started a serious and determined invasion of Europe.

1943June29Americansreachgreekborder.jpg

In the East General Inönu finally arrived at his destination in the lands of Kazachstan, knocking out some Industial capabilities of the Soviets and able to flank the Soviet tank division that was guarding their borders in the South.

1943July2advancesEastRussia.jpg

The division retreated back, loosing about 20 tanks. Won't be long before Turkish troops push all the way to the more heavy industry spots of Alma-Ata and Stalinabad. Especially when the Turkish army at India is relieved.

Bulgarian capital of Sofia was attacked on July 9th, the next day the Bulgarian division defending it was in full retreat.

1943July9Bulgariainabadway.jpg

The Americans where expanding on all sides, they attacked the Turkish mainland from the islands again, defeating the Germans at the beaches. The Turkish army quickly moved an army more to the North of the country, before the Americans could advance inland. The Americans also started to invade Albania, defeating the Italians there. The Italians had been weakened since they lost their fleet for the most part while loosing a lot of ground in Africa and the island of Sardinia. The Turkish where in control for the most part in Greece and Bulgaria however, a bold pincher movement was tried by the roaming Bulgarian and Romanian troops on orders of the Turkish military leader Alparslan Türkes and lead by the Romanian Dictator/field marshal Antonescu.

1943July11attackingtheAmericans.jpg

They attacked the 5th and 13th US marine divisions and the 24th and 36th infantry divisions under renowned general Dwight D. Eisenhower. The actual advance was coming from the West, while the Eastern forces helped tighten the nuse. It succeeded, the Americans had to fall back and a gap in their line was made threathening to cut off their motorized divisions heading for Sofia. The 5th marine division suffered the worse with nearly 1200 men dead and the 24th infantry had to leave behind a group of heavy tanks because of pin-point shelling on their position. Turkish planes made their retreat a nightmare, with another 3000 casualties for the 36th . Turkish planes couldn't dance all night long in Greece though, the Americans had to be stopped when they landed in Turkey itself.

1943July15attackingtheinvasion.jpg

The highway into Bulgaria of the Allies could not be held by the spearheading Romanian and Bulgarian troops, they had to fend off American soldiers on their way towards eachother and eventually where grinded to a halt. They did however manage to lock supplies up to general MacArthurs troops to the North, so the Bulgarian forces that where not in combat with the Southern enemy forces was ordered to attack MacArthur, attack him with all they got.

1943July15attackingMacarthurpocket.jpg

Whatever planes the Romanians and Bulgarians could spare where put in the air and had to fly and take out as many of MacArhurs men as possible. They where not able to kill a significant amount, but the advance on Sofia was stopped as it seemed. Most importantly, a large stack of Romanian, Bulgarian, Italian and even some heavy battle-hardened German troops who where practically celebrating vacation in Belgrade got on their feet and seemed to be starting to march South. These troops however would not be under Turkish control.

Those Americans are becoming a real nuisance... Maybe you should take advantage of the mountainous terrain and deploy some mountaineers with art brigades. ;)

Look at his manpower. There's no way he's gonna be able to make more divisions, much less 15 manpower mountaineers.
