A naval victory (see attached image) where you lose your 3 top capital ships and the 'loser' takes no casualties. I see that AoD has maintained the ancient HOI tradition of rubbish naval combat.

The current "improved" naval fights are simply horrible beyond belief. England transports ONLY keep moving to German's Norway that Germany took over a year ago. Their transports (again....transports only!) keep getting hit (over & over & over) again with my German big Naval fleet and of course, no ships sink every damn stupid single time.

That sounds like some awful naval positioning to me. Undefended TPs get sunk no problem in the online games I've played. Even defended ones do too!

Really? Playing the Germans just yesterday, my big fleet "continued" over & over again to slug it out with a British fleet of 4 TPs only. Again, probably at least 7 or 8 times the 4 British TPs just keep attacking my German fleet (having the Bismarck & so on)...is that crazy or what? 7 or 8 times their 4 TPs just kept attacking my big German fleet and my fleet never even chipped the British paint. Lol! Just bloody crazy.

Whoops! Sorry I missed your post my kind sir. My mistake!

However, just like you, I've played this great game for years and I've never seen before what happened the other day. I admit to not checking the positioning but as it was attacking I assumed it had to be somewhat lined up ok. Both sides attacking each other.....haha....wow. But then maybe it was just a silly fluke.

But since I have you here Mr_BOnarpte: I would greatly appreciate your expertise! As Germany, the huge need for rare materials totally ran out for me very early in 1942. Heh.....of course just a killer. I had previously taken Moscow, Leningrad & Stalingrad. I usually just sit tight during the 1941 vicious snow storms. I suppose like everyone else I loaded up on USA rare materials 1936 until attacking Poland in 1939. Then some from Russia until I attacked them.

Maybe there's a far better way to load up enough rare materials now? I in 1936 usually start putting in 12 synthetic oil plants & 12 synthetic rare materials plants. For the rare material plants in Hannover, Cologne and then later a few in Vienna. Of course starting the synthetic plants upgrades in 1938 or 1939 and then so on.

But. obviously that doesn't work anymore. Again, I would greatly appreciate your insight sir!

No worries at all, thanks for your response.

Hmmm, I take it you're playing vanilla. The world's resources are handled much differently in the Improved 1936 mod I use, but I imagine trading with the UK and anyone else you can pre-war alongside the USA is possible, and strongly desired. Ideally you trade so much that can take you into 1942/43, by which time you'd have defeated the USSR, or perhaps it would then be time to use synthetic plants if not.

Japan taking Malaysia would also be a great help in this regard, the issue there would be how to ship the resources across the Indian and Atlantic Oceans though. But investing in convoys and escorts is probably more wise then synthetic plants in this regard.

Hmmm, that's a damn good idea partner! I'll be checking out my good Japan buddies for sure next time. Especially, as you mentioned, once they get Malaysia. Well, I'm using the latest Steam updates but I assume that's quite different from the mod you use. But that's ok! Also a good idea for trading England or whoever I can find. I just have to quit being lazy with that.

However, at right now this game is just bloody fun as hell! :) It really is! Until late 1942 February It shocked my silly ego getting out of control with failure. Haha......oh well. Especially now, in the winter, is when I jump into the great game.

Thank you so very much again sir!! I really appreciate it!!

Happy to help, glad you're having a blast! :D

Mr Bonarpte, please forgive for bothering you again but playing another game is showing the same junk as before sir. British transports of 3 or 4 just keep plowing into my battleship fleet just off Norway again and again.....over and over the transports keep "attacking" my big battleship fleet and they as always never, never lose a transport. Over & over & over again. I'm honestly not lying sir.

But even worse, playing as Germany, with my upgrades list of about 80 or so, for upgrades from sept of 1940 to March of 1941 my infantry very barely get "any" upgrades. Lol....of course even despite being prioritized.

I just can't play this anymore.

I would greatly appreciate you showing how or where I can get the setup you use for this terrific game. Thank you sir!!

No worries at all, hope I can help.

Are you able to share a save from a day or two before these battles occur and tell me what I need to do to trigger it happening (ie keep X fleet in a certain location)? You find saves in your AoD folder/scenarios/save games, can then upload via Dropbox/OneDrive etc, or even directly upload to this website via the "Attach file" function.

Well Mr_BOnarpte:, I'm afraid I wasn't smart enough to save those times. But yes, it can be done but I wish I had saved those crazy problems. My bad mistake as I didn't think of that at the time. Or even for other crazy things. Even though there was a long time when British transports just kept coming into my battleship fleet over & over again just by southern Norway many times. But I will absolutely save those times the next time I promise sir!!

Haha, even though I just previously said I was done with AOD but the game is just way, wayyyy to great to ignore. Especially during freezing winter in my northern state.

However, once again sir, I would greatly appreciate what you use for your AOD setup. My AOD 1.12 Zeav just doesn't like me.

I use the Improved 1936 mod (link in my signature) for all my games, the AI is just so much better, and resources are a lot more important, and there's even more historical events, and many existing ones have been balanced out.

Admittedly I barely play single player - in the latest online game I'm in, I've had no issue sinking the Soviet and Chinese fleets, the Imperial Japanese Navy has had great successes! Most recently in providing crucial assistance in landing in Shanghai (in July 1940!), taking Nanjing, and even as far as Xiangfan. Our cavalry were just 2 weeks away from Chongqing, but with our supply lines stretched, and constant bombardment from the Soviet Air fleets, we decided we'd conquered enough and made our retreat. Currently we're in a precarious position, defending from Tianjin to Chongyin as Chinese and Soviet divisions have been on a near constant assault of our lines in the mountainous and forested regions of Manchuria, alongside Beiping, Tianjin and Kalgan.

I'm glad you're back playing it, as you say it's just too good!

Mr_BOnarpte, thank you so very much! The "Improved 1936 mod" is what I'm going to get immediately! Gosh, having real results on naval battles is the finest music to my ears. It really is.

Haha, currently. with my Germany troops just setting on their butts, no wars then, from July 1940 to May 1941 has my supply needs bouncing massively forever all over the place. Even though almost "all" my army isn't moving anywhere at all. Lol! I just won't miss that stuff.

Thanks a million sir!!! A good AOD is a very, very great thing.

Maybe the supply demand jumps because you're building and placing down new units? The game rushes to fulfil their stockpile ASAP, which is especially fast in high ESE areas.

The "Improved 1936 mod" is what I'm going to get immediately!
Hope you enjoy :D Bewarned it's got a steep learning/adjustment curve as the world has been transformed, and every AI with it!

Completely agreed!
