Sorry De Chat, but if we look at what the JL has given us in this game vs. what are the arguments for your theory, the choice is pretty clear. And if you were a villager, there would be little reason to come out so aggressively.

Then concerning alxeu's proposal. While his argumentation makes sense, there are two caveats: if there are multiple packs left in the game he might be a wolf in hiding, trying to get protection from the other pack. Secondly, I wonder if there will be a corresponding game-balancing perk for the bad guys, which would not be great. Despite the concerns, I think the odds are still in favour that an extra blessed character is good for the village. And if alxeu is a wolf, the blessing won't protect him from a length of rope.

Vote aye on 11-005

And what is exactly the reason why I do this as a wolf? Care to explain? If I am a wolf wanting for parity really seems logic to you that I go against the JL leader and having all the attention like I did today? That doesnt have any sense as a wolf.

If I were a wolf it's way more logic just sit and wait hoping someone else is lynched. I wasn't even under presure today. I came out agressively because they are going to win the game today if we let them, I think is quite obvious.

Dont lose your time with proposals, wolves are having fun with you. The game ends today. At least vote for Arkasas and make a TIE with me.

Vote De Chatillon

Nice theatrics, but futile. There's enough people here to see through it. My guess is you wanted to reach parity by lynching the villager JL spokesman. Not on my watch.

So predictible :D :D

Obviously the problem is not the wolves doing your thing, is the villager who follows you. I guess that's Jopi. I must say I didn't expect someone falling for such an obvious wolk pack leading the JL. My mistake as well for not catching you yesterday before so I would vote Arkasas with Brovahkin when you were trying to save your wolfmate. I didn't see it then. I guess there the village had the game but now is lost.

How someone can still trust blindly Sleepyhead after what happened yesterday is something really, really beyond my understanding.

Boo! Vote for mine!

It looks like you wont survive, but you can still prevent forest fires “reform” the system ;)

Final Tally

Current Proposals
Upon the motion of Alexios [Ramius], renewing and expanding upon similar previous proposals,
Proposal 11-001: The strategoi shall appoint a special phalanx of elite soldiers. Upon favorable omens at the Temple of Apollo Patroös, said phalanx shall travel to Delphi and—in service to the god's will—escort the priestess there to Athens, to permit swift and accurate communication with the spirits of the dead. Such spirits will be permitted to suggest proposals for consideration by the Assembly. [All the dead to be able to propose legislation.]

Concurrent with this, the reserves of the treasuries at Delphi shall be cleared and used to fund couriers who will rapidly locate former members of the Leontid Prytany currently in exile. Amnesty shall be granted to these exiles, permitting their return and the full restoration of their civic rights. [Resurrection being impossible, this will turn out to take longer than the end of game but will affect the final post w/r/t @Avernite, @Panzer Commander, @EUROO7, & @Ironhide G1.]
Signed: Ramius

Upon the motion of Alexios [Ramius], in view of the continuing inability of democracy to deal with matters internal or external to the city,
Proposal 11-002: The Senate (Boulē) and full public Assembly shall be disbanded and prohibited from meeting, with all legislative power reserved for the Prytany, to remain unchanged and in session until the end of the current crisis. [No change except village victory impossible until repealed or the overthrow of the government]
Signed: Ramius

Upon the motion of Alexios [Ramius], in view of the continuing inability of democracy to deal with matters internal or external to the city,
Proposal 11-003: The remaining archons of the city shall be removed from office and prohibited from meeting, with all executive power reserved for a First Archon, to remain unchanged and in office until the end of the current crisis. The first First Archon shall be Alexios Nikolaides [Ramius]. In the event of his acceptance of such grave responsibility, a parade along the Panathenaic Way led by the priesthoods of Ares and Athena shall celebrate Athens' good fortune. [No change except wolf victory impossible for non-Ramian packs (if any) until repealed or the overthrow of the government]
Signed: Ramius

Upon the motion of Alexios [Ramius], in view of the continuing inability of democracy to deal with matters internal or external to the city, regardless of the passing of any other proposals,
Proposal 11-004: No absolute majority of the Prytany shall be required to forward legislation to the Assembly, only more ayes than nays, so long as a quorum of at least one-third of the members vote.
Signed: Ramius

Upon the motion of John Locke [Alxeu], given that he has powerful friends and the favor of the gods, in order to prevent calamitous consequences to the city in the event of his wrongful death,
Proposal 11-005: The Assembly shall make available funds out of the common treasury to provide additional guards to defend John Locke [Alxeu] from attackers. [Alxeu becomes blessed]
Signed: Alxeu, Arkasas, Jopi

Upon the motion of Socrates [Arkasas], given that knowledge is power,
Proposal 11-006: The archives at the Metroön shall be searched for the working papers of the former king archon Phormio. [GM publishes the exact scanlist of the seer Tamius23]
Signed: Arkasas

[ The Beautiful City ]

This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs: when he first appears above ground he is a protector.
Yes, that is quite clear.

How then does a protector begin to change into a tyrant? Clearly when he does what the man is said to do in the tale of the Arcadian temple of Lycaean Zeus.

What tale?

The tale is that he who has tasted the entrails of a single human victim minced up with the entrails of other victims is destined to become a wolf. Did you never hear it?

Oh, yes.

And the protector of the people is like him. Having a mob entirely at his disposal, he is not restrained from shedding the blood of kinsmen. By false accusation he brings them into court and murders them, making men's lives disappear and with unholy tongue and lips tasting the blood of his fellow citizens. Some he kills and others he banishes, at the same time hinting at the abolition of debts and the partition of lands. And after this, what will be his destiny? Must he not either perish at the hands of his enemies, or from being a man become a wolf—that is, a tyrant?

Inevitably.

And if they are unable to expel him or to get him condemned to death by a public accusation, they conspire to assassinate him.

Yes, he said, that is their usual way.

Then comes the famous request for a bodyguard, which is the device of all those who have got thus far in their tyrannical career—"Let not the people's friend", as such men say, "be lost to them".

Exactly.

The people readily assent; all their fears are for him—they have none for themselves.

Very true.

And when a man who is wealthy and is also accused of being an enemy of the people sees this, then, my friend, as the oracle said to Croesus, By pebbly Hermus' shore he flees and rests not and is not ashamed to be a coward.

And quite right too, said he, for if he were, he would never be ashamed again.

But if he is caught he dies.

Of course.

And he, the protector of whom we spoke, is to be seen, not "larding the plain" with his bulk, but himself the overthrower of many, standing up in the chariot of State with the reins in his hand, no longer protector, but tyrant absolute.

No doubt, he said.

And now let us consider the happiness of the man, and also of the State in which a creature like him is generated.

Yes, he said, let us consider that.

At first, in the early days of his power, he is full of smiles, and he salutes every one whom he meets; --he to be called a tyrant, who is making promises in public and also in private! liberating debtors, and distributing land to the people and his followers, and wanting to be so kind and good to every one!

Of course, he said.

But when he has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader.

To be sure.

Has he not also another object, which is that they may be impoverished by payment of taxes and thus compelled to devote themselves to their daily wants and therefore less likely to conspire against him?

Clearly.

And if any of them are suspected by him of having notions of freedom and of resistance to his authority, he will have a good pretext for destroying them by placing them at the mercy of the enemy and for all these reasons the tyrant must be always getting up a war.

He must.

Now he begins to grow unpopular.

A necessary result.

Then some of those who joined in setting him up and who are in power speak their minds to him and to one another, and the more courageous of them cast in his teeth what is being done.

Yes, that may be expected.

And the tyrant, if he means to rule, must get rid of them; he cannot stop while he has a friend or an enemy who is good for anything.

He cannot.

And therefore he must look about him and see who is valiant, who is high-minded, who is wise, who is wealthy; happy man, he is the enemy of them all and must seek occasion against them whether he will or no, until he has made a purgation of the State.

Yes, he said, and a rare purgation.

Yes, I said, not the sort of purgation which the physicians make of the body; for they take away the worse and leave the better part, but he does the reverse.
If he is to rule, I suppose that he cannot help himself.

What a blessed alternative, I said:—to be compelled to dwell only with the many bad, and to be by them hated, or not to live at all!

Yes, that is the alternative.

And the more detestable his actions are to the citizens the more satellites and the greater devotion in them will he require?

Certainly.

And who are the devoted band, and where will he procure them?

They will flock to him, he said, of their own accord, if he pays them.

De Chatillôn the one-eye-open cursed-villager cum Republican-traitor was lynched
Ramius3443 the villager & member of the Watchmen's Guild was hunted

Congratulations to the Winners
I'll be doing a full epilogue for the scenario in a bit but so the full gloating and congratulations and recriminations can commence

JOPIIST PACK VICTORY
Hyperbolus [Jopi] the terrified traitor, now tyrant of Athens
Jack Donaghy [Sleepyhead] the cursed villager turned traitor, now general & CEO of General Athenian

Ah, yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Well-fought, Sleepy.

Sleepy being a wolf was very, very obvious. Well.. Arkasas, Ramius and Alxeu didn't want to listen for some reason.
Not that you didn't also deserve the win (you hunted Sleepy the same night Jopi turned him) but you treated Arkasas and Alxeu like packmates instead of the rump JL that they were. That didn't help.

So, there was a larger pack and a bunch of lone wolves?
THIS IS WAS DEMOCRATIC ATHENS!

Every wolf had a choice between allying with the Spartans, forming an oligarchic club to advance rule by the philosophical elite, or trying to establish their own personal tyranny. Despite that last one requiring beginning as a pack of one, three opted for it and one made it to the endgame and victory.

That's true. But anyway they could listen that Sleepy was an obvious wolf and then if they went against him I would know they weren't packmates. And who was defending Sleepy the other night I hunted him?

The Italians have a saying, Llymon: “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” And although they’ve never won a war or mass-produced a decent car, in this case, they’re right.

There were multiple hunts in one night?

There were multiple hunts in one night?
There were four separate packs at game start. I went with random fulfillment of orders to keep everyone awake. K-59 hated that and hated the democratic voting even more. (Packs of 2+ had to have majority approval of the hunt or it wouldn't go through. Didn't apply to the tyrants if they didn't want it to, but Jopi mostly delegated his hunts to Sleepy anyway. He had more important things to do, like choose his new regalia.)

Multiple hunts in one night going through are against the core rules but that would've changed if the village had done something major like establish a new seer or made everyone blessed at once.

Ironic the that strongest proponent of abolishing democracy died last.
