You know what I am looking at? I found my notes of my last game which I had all africa continent with the Boers. I listed ALL dutch pops in all provinces (which is a damn lot) to choose from to promote to capitalists or clerks depending on the state already having factories or not. I occasionally did "social engineering" to demote clerics into workers which took a hell lot of time. There were many more labor that I was performing which I do not remember. Now I saw this DD and become a lot happy that clickfest (not only clickfest but also take-notes-to-paper-fest too) ended elegantly. KUTGW.

Speaking of which, another major thing I did was increasing the capacity of RGOs wherever there are unemployed POPs (I had myself a mission-in-mind to finish unemployment in the world so whoever migrated to my wealthy Africa got themselves jobs). I will be really happy if this kind of stuff are automated too.

Good stuff.

Two things though!

1 - "Outlawed" isn't explicit enough than "Abolition" or something similar;

2 - The top bar buttons, the letters aren't fitting in the little boxes. :)

Two pet peeves, but hey, let's make this thang the best strategy game evar!

Very nice! My only complaint is about the buttons "Su" "Ev" "LU" "CH" seems to me a small symbol (with a tooltip) would do a better work than these 2 letter combinations.

But that's nothing (especially as this is an alpha screenshot), I really like what I'm hearing/seeing (apart from the engine things it's also nice to know that pops have been thoroughly researched to avoid the depopulated Poland from vicky 1 and similar).

King - question (I don't know if this was already discussed in other dev diaries): will there be any system of imposing the laws (acts, bills etc. thus kind of political system) which will also influence POP's? IMO, despite financial way of influencing POP's (taxes, tariffs) the important way of influencing people life was passing the laws of course in different manner depending on the political system; if you have parliamentary system you have to pass the law through parliament, if you are authocratic you simply announce decree :) The example could be land enclosures in England (however I think it's not this century what Vic is about in this case :)).

As for POP splitting, shouldn't they auto-split at a reasonable size like, say, 100.000? I like it that productivity is directly proportional to size, however, there is another issue I can see. Namely, well, issues. If all the folks in a single POP have the same ideology and issues, there wouldn't be much ideological diversity in the country. I'm simply concerned of a situation where all the factories in your industrial heartland are worked by a few, humongous craftsman POPs, big enough that a change of mind in a single of them would cause a visible swing in domestic politics. Or a "10% of your craftsmen become socialist" event would (due to a random chance) either have no effect at all or an effect far beyond that 10%.

No

A spoked wheel represents jews? I'd have thought the star of david would be a more obvious choice...

It's Alpha, I expect their using EU3 icons as placeholders.

By the way, where did the secondary issues go?

Perhaps this interface is not final?

People think that making Victoria 2 is like walking the dog or something. :p

Very awesome - that interface screen is quite an improvement from older interface designs!

For the Population tab on the top bar - the avg. militancy/consciousness icons (currently showing 6.26 / 5.00) will they be green/red depending on if they are going up or down like some of the other numbers displayed? If not please consider doing so! :)

Where it says "top produced", maybe "most produced" would be better?

If pops are no longer a fixed size what is the deal with different ideologies/issues within each pop?

Wouldn't it be less confusing to split dissidents into a separate pop with different ideology/issue?

Or perhaps the opposite. Why don't you merge all catholic dixies into one pop and just change the ideologies/issues composition?

The screenshot is of all the POPs in a state not province.

Isn't it clearly visible in the screenshot that a pop doesn't have a uniform issue or ideology? :)

Damn, stupid me. Somehow I managed to miss the little pies next to the POPs. I was still thinking in V1 terms where a pie is simply the sum of all local POPs' opinions.
