(continued from Operation Fading Sun: Part 8)
On August 21, we were stabbed in the back by the Nationalists. Hundreds of Red Army personnel were killed, forcing the Communists to leave the Unified Front, in what would become known as the New Fourth Army Incident.
However, this did not hinder the Red Army's inoxerable advance down the Korean Peninsula.
The Japanese even offered a foolish offer of peace on November 11.
This was declined by Foreign Minister Wang Jiaxiang, of course, in favor of demanding his own terms. This was done on November 20, and in the treaty of Busan Japan agreed to give up all its interests in China, cede Manchuria to the Communists, and recognize the establishment of a Korean puppet state with its capital in Pyongyang.
Victory over the Japanese had finally been achieved. Operation Fading Sun had succeeded.
