Prolouge​

In order to understand the grave situation of the future, one must understand the future. On January 25th, 2228, Philip Andersen was born to Thomas Raymond Andersen, a four star general within the ranks of the Earth Directory, and Patricia Ann Andersen, a doctor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Philip, the fourth child of the parents, along the youngest, would lead the human race to it's highest peak.

Beginning in 2240, several years of revolts and revolutions occured throught the human controlled planets and star systems. In 2238, the nation of France revolted aganist the rule of President Johnson, the leader of the Earth Directory. Soon afterwards, revolts would spread to the Sigma Draconis system, the Delta Pavonis system and Mars.

In 2247, after the defeat of General T.R. Andersen's Sixth Fleet in the Delta Pavonis system, widespread protests began on Earth, the clock had ticked it's last tick on the Johnson Administration. Elections were immediatley called for, Johnson resigned from the presidency the day after.

Earth Senator David Welch, a well respected man began his bid for the presidency in 2236, he was defeated by Johnson's president. In 2236, Johnson was on the ticket for vice president. After an assassination in 2237, he assumed to the presidency. In 2242, Welch again made his bid for the presidency, again he was defeated by Johnson.

Now in 2247, Welch had the promise, the pose, the chance to win the election. There was a slight problem, Welch was 57 years old, most of the population did not want two older men running the Earth Directory. A younger candidate for vice president would have to be chosen, preferably somebody with little experience with politics, a person 'untainted' by the corruption of government.

That person was, Philip Jereimah Andersen, the recent graduate of Burke High School in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 18.

In 2248, on the first anniversary of the downfall of Johnson, an conspiracy to assassinate President Welch was carried out. Philip Andersen, at the age of 19, was sworn in as the president, the youngest the human race had ever seen. For the next eighteen years, Andersen would take the human race to where nobody thought possible.

The first week of his presidency he granted Mars, Sigma Draconis, and all other colonies of Earth their formal independence, including the non-friendly Delta Pavonis system. The Earth Directory was soon disbanded, a new, more friendly organization was formed between the former colonies and Earth, the Earth Alliance.

Andersen had his enemies, many of whom wished him dead. But killing Andersen would only martyr him, he was the leader of the new wave of greatness, of life for the human race.

In 2266, President Philip Andersen stepped down from the presidency, he was now 37 years old. Eric Campbell, the vice president, became the 2nd president of the Earth Alliance.

In 2279, everything changed...

...The timeline had drastically been changed, for the worse. Philip Andersen, the long-time president of the Earth Alliance was non-existant, nobody had ever heard of him. The Earth Alliance had suffered the same fate as it's founder, Philip. Jordan Schnack, the vice president for Eric Campbell, the second president of the Earth Alliance, sat in his room. Drastic times had suddenly come, drastic measures, the only cure.

Schnack located, after studying the timeline, located the errors within the timeline of the world. The earliest error occured in October, 1926 within the city of Bologna, Italy. The timeline was full of errors, 1936, 1939, the years continued. Adjustments would have to be made, the only solution required a person or persons to travel to the earliest date of error, October 1926.

Schnack, gathering the members of the non-existant Earth Alliace he could find, told them of the grave situation. Leland Klauzer, the vice president-elecet for third president of the Earth Alliance. Somehow, although Philip was non-existant, a person holding his son's name was alive, Jason Andersen, an 18 year old. The three concluded that their expedition should be as small as possible, no more than a dozen people. Klauzer, rounded up a half dozen of his best trained commandos from the Scorpion Squadron, which he use to command.

On January 25th, 2279, the 51st birthday of Philip Andersen, the party set course for October 1926, location, Bologona, Italy. The mission would begin there, the fate of the world, of the future was in the hands of a party of nine people.

Chapter 1​

October 26th, 1926​

Bologna, Italy​

"Today, Benito Mussolini, the leader of Facist Italy, is praising his followers in the city of Bologna. It is unclear in history, what the name of the assassin is, but that an assassin will attempt to kill Mussolini today. Our mission is to make sure Mussolini is not assassinated," said Klauzer, the fifty year old ex-commander of the Scorpion Squadron.

"For those of you who are unaware of the situation or are in need of a reminder, in timeline with Andersen, Mussolini was never assassinated. In the altered timeline, Mussolini was assassinated, in this very city," said Schnack, who truly wanted to return to the timeline he knew so well. The timeline in which he was the third president of the Earth Alliance.

"Let's proceed, men," Klauzer said.

The Italian dictator, was indeed giving a speech to his supporters, who were all hand chosen by the party. The dictator told of how he would restore the nation, reclaim the glory of Rome. It seemed an impossible task, but the followers bought it.

"We shall reclaim the Mediterranean Sea, it shall be our sea! The glory of the Roman Empire shall be restored!" exclaimed Mussolini while the party of commandos entered the building through the rear. Mussolini's bodyguards drew their weapons upon the commandos, threatening to shoot. The bullets from the Italian, Beretta cal. 9 Glisentis would have done nothing to the body armor of the commandos.

"Lay down your arms," commanded Klauzer to the bodyguards. He soon realized his English would mean nothing to the bodyguards. English was not yet the primary language of the world, a pity. He opened his mouth to speak, "Open fire."

The guns of the commandos, three assigned to the "protection of Mussolini", shot a short burst, the bodyguards fell, stumbling backwards before hitting the floor. The shots went unheard, the technology of the late 23rd century far superior to that of 1926, obviously. The commandos, along with Klauzer moved towards where Mussolini was suppose to be.

On October 26th, 1:52pm, Benito Mussolini was captured by Klauzer and his loyal Scorpions, part of the timeline had been corrected. Aganist his will, Mussolini met Jordan Schnack, Jason Andersen and the other commandos.

Schnack placed a large stack of papers on the table before the dictator, it read: Chiarire le Intenzioni, or Clear Intentions.

Chapter 2​

January 1st, 1936​

Rome, Italy​

For the previous ten years, Schnack, Andersen, Klauzer had been influencing every aspect of Italy. Mussolini had been more then willing to listen them, after showing him the failures of Italy, in the altered timeline. By January 1st, Italy was truly under the power of Jordan Schnack, Jason Andersen and Leland Klauzer.

On January 1st, the expansion of the Italian industry began, factories were to be built and/or expanded in the provinces of:

Trento
Venice
Turin
Milan
Bologna

The estimated time of completion was December 13th to December 21st, 1936. A decision to expand the industry beyond these five factories had not yet been reached.

Additionally, four companies were given contracts to aid the Italian nation. FIAT would begin work on 'Basic Machine Tools', Lancia would begin work on Agrichemistry. Breda began work on a 'Basic Light Tank' design while Macchi would begin work on 'Basic Cavalry Divsions'.

January 1st, 1936​

Ethopia - Africa​

Late in 1935, Italy began the invasion of Ethopia, one of the only independent African nations. Sixteen divsions were assigned to defeating Ethopia, a mistake as grave as 1896 would not be repeated. A simple strategy had been adopted, march forward.

January 5th-7th, 1936​

Rome, Italy​

On January 5th, Mussolini's son-in-law, Ciano, offered his services as volunteer in Ethopia. His services were accepted, the Italian people were rejoiced.

On January 7th, Schnack, with Mussolini's "blessing" forced two ministers to resign. Francesco Grazioli, the Chief of Staff and Cesare Ame, Head of Intelligence. Mario Cingolani (artillery research bonus) was appointed the new Chief of Staff and Umberto Ricci (Industrial Capital 5%) was appointed Head of Intelligence.

January 17th, 1936​

Ethopia - Africa​

The march towards Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethopia, continued. Two provinces in northern Ethopia fell to the Italian forces. After the provinces fell, a Ethopian counterattack was performed, however the attack was thrown back.

The altered timeline was slowly being corrected, day by day.

Chapter 2​

February 7th-December 31st, 1936​

On February 7th, Mussolini granted a government contract to Fiat-Revelli to mass produce a new machine gun, and additional small arms. Once the small arms were produced, men could be trained with these weapons, increasing the Italian armies ability to fight. (Basic Infantry Divsion '39)

On February 17th, the annextation of Ethopia was announced to the world. At the urging of Schnack, Somaila was granted it's independence.

On March 21st, several German companies offered to help the Italian nation further it's movement to industrialize. Unaware of Schnack, or the other visitors, the German companies were turned away with a polite: "Thanks but no thanks." Italian companies would industrialize the nation, not German companies.

On May 6th, FIAT finished it's design for 'Basic Machine Tools' and quickly began on 'Improved Machine Tools'. June 24th, Mussoilni ordered the training of thirty infantry divsions. These divsions would be used to garrison the future conquests of the Italian nation. Sadly, only enough small arms were avaiable to train one divsion at a time.

On July 1st, Franco's Facists declared their independence from the Spanish government. On August 17th, Italian aid was sent to Franco's forces.

On September 12th, the company of Macchi finished 'Basic Cavalry Divsion', they soon lost a contract. A contract was awarded to Lancia who would begin work on 'Rear Area Supply Dumps'.

On October 21st, after Schnack, Klauzer and Mussolini visted Berlin and met with Hitler, German technology would be purchased. Schnack, Klauzer had never known Hitler, personally, but had heard about him. His charisma was truly able to persuade people, but it never affected Schnack or Klauzer.

On November 11th, FIAT finished 'Improved Machine Tools' and soon began work on 'Advanced Machine Tools'.

On December 21st, the factories were completed. Schnack ordered the construction of additional factories.

The New Year would end, Italy had increased it's strength. But deep down, Schnack kept a secret from everybody but himself.

Chapter 3​

January 1st to December 31st, 1937​

On January 29th, with Schnack nowhere to be found, Mussolini signed the Anti-Comintern Pact with Germany and Japan. Each nation agreed to share information and mutually assist each other on containing Communist influence.


On February 10th, Lancia finished 'Rear Area Supply Dumps' and soon began work on 'Advanced Construction Engineering'. Progess was being made on other technologies at a good pace, soon Italy could perhaps call itself a 'modern' nation.

On March 14th, Schnack had returned to Rome. Upon his arrival he ordered the training of fifteen infantry divsions and three cavalry divsions.

On May 17th, two Italian car compies, Gruoppo Orsi and Masertai Auto Company merged. Both companies soon submited basic designs to help the Italian Army. (Basic Motorized Divsion)

On June 6th, Breda finished their design on a light tank which was designated the L3/38. Breda soon began work on a new tank design, a better one than the L3/38.

By August 11th, FIAT finished their work on 'Advaned Machine Tools' and began researching 'Rear Area Vehicle Repair Shops'.

On September 26th, Schnack recieved a report from the spies of the Italian Intelligence Agency. The report documented the estimated numbers of possible enemy nations, infantry, armor, etc.

On October 1st, thousands of Italian soldiers returned from the Spanish Civil War in Spain. The veterans of the Civil War would teach the Italian army some valueable lessons, or it was hoped.

On October 26th, Lanica finished 'Advanced Construction Engineering' and began researching weapons to improve the infantry (Basic Infantry Divsion).

Schnack would once again disappear on October 27th, nobody knew for how long this time, except one person...

...Philip Andersen.

Chapter 4​

Omaha, Nebraska​

Omaha, Nebraska was the place where Philip Andersen had grown up for his entire life. Jordan Schnack had recieved a strain message nearly a year ago (1937), requesting him to met somebody in Geneva, Switzerland. There he travelled and stayed for nearly three months before returning to Rome. What happened during his travel informed him of the world that was to be, if all went according to plan.

January 1937​

"Jordan Schnack," read the letter's opening.

"I have arrived at Geneva, Switzerland, the old capital. I shall meet you at the site of the capital building, alone. Come to me on the day of the birth," was the end of the letter.

Geneva, Switzerland - January 25th, 1937.​

Geneva was the capital of the Earth Directory since it's creation in 2147. After the corruption of Johnson had manifested itself, the public wishes to relocate the capital. But now, Geneva did not know of it's fate.

Schnack had arrived on the date specified, January 25th. He headed towards the old capital building's location, several hundred people crowded the streets. He had a slight idea whom he was meeting, then again it was only a slight idea.

He waited at the location, time was slowly passing.

"Jordan Schnack, I have come," said a familiar voice. Schnack could not make out the face of the voice, but it was coming closer.

"Jason?" asked Schnack, refering to the son of the first president of the Alliance.

"No my friend, no," replied the voice.

"It can't be, the only other..." he paused, confused.

"It can be, it is," said the voice, reassuring Schnack of his thoughts.

"Philip?"

"Correct. I know you are confused Jordan, you thought I did not exist, nor had the Earth Alliance. I must tell you one thing, this is an expierment, nothing more, nothing less." With those words, Philip Andersen walked away, still invisible to Schnack.

With the new knowledge in hand, Schnack headed back for Rome. Everything he thought to be recently true was false. He could for once, play god...

What, exactly, is going on here? Or what is seeming to go on here?

Evidently, this man is living in a paralel reality.

Following the idea that each decision we make drive us toward one path without destroying the other infinte paths left by other "what if" decisions that weren't taken in this dimension. Similar to a "decisions tree" that you may see in any basic stadistic model (but with many, oh many, more branches).

The new main character of the plot is living in one of this infinite paralel time dimensions, although the reality that he was sent to defend still exists he is trapped in another one, so his mission is pointless, as the world that he was suposed to rescue exist but it has turned unreachable for him.

So, he has charte blanc to do as he wishes and make his stay in this timeline as pleasant as possible regardingless of the consecuences of his acts.



But that is just a wild guess.

Philip Andersen, although a charming person in reality, succumbs to the same temptation that any other human might. Having found a chance to try a bunch of "what ifs", he took it. He decieved several people, Schnack, Klauzer, his own son to go to 1936 Italy, and "correct" the timeline.

Jordan Schnack believes what he is doing was right until Andersen succumbed to his good side and told Schnack. Now Schnack has succumbed to the evil temptations.

The main timeline that these characters live in, still exists. The Axis powers were defeated, the Allies won. Everything we know to of happened in our timeline has happened.

I'm sorry for misleading people, this style of writing in an AAR is new even to me. Hopefully you, the readers, will continue reading.

Chapter 5​

On his second return from the meeting with Philip Andersen, Schnack met with Klauzer, the younger Andersen, and the commandos. To say the least, the men were surprised that their timeline was already safe. But soon all of them would fall to the temptations that had befallen the elder Andersen and Schnack.

The timeline was for them...

...a playground of playgrounds.

Il Duce the Moment​

At 3:45 AM, the alarm clock, an invention they had brought with them from the future, along with their clothing, body armor and weaponary, went off. The men soon woke upon the new day, the moment they had been waiting for for two days.

Mussolini had returned to Rome later that day, at 7:30AM, the train ride from Berlin miserable. The sleep he had recieved from the ride, not enough but he was the leader, the emperor of the new Roman Empire, it would have to do.

At 7:35AM Ciano, his son-in-law walked into the office room and announced that Schnack needed to see him. Usually Schnack was escorted by two commandos, a protection to make sure Mussolini didn't pull any tricks.

"Thank you," said Mussolini. "Let him come to me." He saw himself the true ruler of Italy, but ever since Schnack had arrived, he had lost power. These travellers knew immensely well of the current events, the outcome of such decisions, as if they had lived them before.

"Il Duce," said Schnack, his voice a little deeper than usual as if corrupted by temptation. "Good morning."

Mussolini had a trick he wished to pull. The time would soon come...
