  • Troubleshooting

    - Issue with land unit movement (generally with HQ-attached units) for USSA
    - Undefined "unknown minister loyalty" error message
    - AI behavior is somewhat off (something I was kind of aware of)
    - Colors on some custom counters are distorted somehow.

    Plans for future versions:

    - Extend the timeline/events/ministers for the entirety (i.e. 1936-1991) of the WWII/Cold War period

    - Flesh out the post-1970 cabinets for all countries

After a good three years of tireless work and a number of setbacks, @077, @der Kriegsherr, and the rest of the team proudly present, based on the alternate history stories by Kim Newman and Eugene Byrne:

    load_1024.png

We all know that the October Revolution of 1917 is one of, if not the defining moment of the 20th century for good or for ill. No one can or will deny that for a second.

    BUT WHAT IF

    - Said October Revolution had not occurred at all? Or at least, not in the way we know it?
    - Instead of falling into anarchy and civil war, Russia was one of the prospering victors of the Great War, profiting handsomely from the destruction of the Central Powers alongside her British ally?
    - The revolution did not occur anywhere in the Old World at all, but that burgeoning bastion of liberal capitalism across the Atlantic?

The world of Back in the USSA by Kim Newman and Eugene Byrne proposes just such a reality, where the old United States of America collapses into a civil war due to deep-seated societal tensions and an early entry and disastrous performance in the Great War, ultimately being reborn as the United Socialist States of America, the Old World empires of Britain and Russia taking up the mantle of guarding the world from the revolutionary fervor of founding father Eugene Debs and his protege-slash-successor Alphonse "Al" Capone, as well as the Tripartite Pact lead by National Socialist Germany, who seeks revenge against them both...

    Features:
    - A fully-overhauled 1936-1970 scenario with multiple branching paths- Unite the proletarians of the world as the USSA? Defend the liberal order as the Entente powers of the British and Russian Empires? Burn it all down and create a Thousand Year Reich? Every game is different!

    - Full use of the E3 Map mod with over 8,000 provinces

    - Overhauled minister lists and pics

    - Complete Integration with the Cold War Tech Tree extension

    - A custom soundtrack integrating both vanilla HOI2/DH songs AND period pieces

    Installation:

Simply extract the contents of the .zip/7Z file into your Darkest Hour>Mods directory and you're ready to go!
    .zip file here

    .7Z file here

    Status report #1/Hotfix for 1.00
  • Hey everyone:
Truth be told, I have no freaking clue what's causing the "coprs-frozen-in-place" bug. I ASSUME it's something to do with the CWTT, but I can't say for certain one way or another.

Anyway, a quick, temporary fix is just to move the units into a new corps. No idea why this works, but it only seems to be the preexisting corps rather than player-created ones.

I SHOULD have it fixed by the next release. Should is the key word, however.

With the AI issues as pointed out earlier, I've got a "hotfix" so to speak; just download the attached files, extract from the .zip files, and place the contents in the appropriate places in your Back in the USSA directory. Always overwrite when asked, BTW.

    @077

Hey, boss. That's true and the E3 maps province count can better simulate encirclement and ideological partitions of states. For example, Iran and Red Iran puppeted by the UK/Russia and USSA (respectively) can pretty easily exist on the same map.

@anyone who was having the minister mismatch crashes

    Alright, try it now.

PSA about error reports (Read this before posting them)
  • Don't get me wrong, I really love you guys' feedback and even negative feedback is necessary for the mod's growth, however, I just have one tiny little PSA about said error reports.
I'm not simply asking or requesting nicely, the fact is I NEED YOUR SAVEDEBUG.txt INFO! I CAN'T FIX AN ERROR IF I DON'T KNOW ITS SOURCE!

It's easy enough; in your main DH directory, there's a .txt file called savedebug.txt. After you load up BITUSSA and you get a CTD or even exit of your own volition, either:
    - Search for the error in question in savedebug.txt and quote the error(s) in your message
    or
    - Upload your savedebug.txt file with your post so I can take a look at it

Thank you for reading this, and I'd thank you even more to follow these directions. It makes everyone's lives a whole lot easier.

    Dev "Diary" #1
  • Wow, I really update this thing infrequently, don't I? Yes, I am well-aware of the corps-movement issue with the USSA. I'm still scratching my head trying to fix it, but if anyone else has worked on a mod using the E3 Map and has had a similar problem, let me know about it and how it was resolved, if at all.

Anyway, you don't want to hear about that, I'm sure, you want to hear about the features we've got planned for the next release! After all, why else would I be hiding away like a hermit from the forums if I wasn't working on it? Anyway, apart from a number of new flags/shields, both originals and cannibalized from Kaiserreich, DH Mixed, NWO2, etc, we've:

    - Almost filled out the use of free TAGs, with a number of ways for them to emerge in the works; coups, civil wars, "liberations," you name it and it's probably on the table

    - A completely revamped "Allies" subfolder for the events file; the Commonwealth states (Australia, NZ, Canada, South Africa, among others) finally get some attention!

    - Revised minister files for literally all the major belligerents of the Second Great War, the vast majority of which are already complete!

    - The integration of even more minister traits from Kaiserreich, NWO2, etc.

    Call for flavor event suggestions
  • It hasn't escaped my noticed that some of the non-war events are kinda...barebones and like I said earlier, I don't want to COMPLETELY rip off mods like KR or Fatherland. So with that in mind, I'm putting out a call for flavor event suggestions!

Any field or subject, it doesn't matter! If you have a suggestion for the events and their effects, I'll hear them! My only requirements are that you specify the countries that will receive the events and that they fit the world of Back in the USSA.

    3.00 Release
  • Well, well! Two version releases in six months! This (among other real life stuff) is what I was in seclusion for these past few months.

(+) Consolidated the minister numbers in ministers_TUR.csv
(+) Unscrewed ministers_FRA.csv, did the same with French ministers
(+) Revised some Hungary.txt events to better reflect political developments on the ground
(+) Imporved ministers_CHI.csv, ministers_CGX.csv, ministers_MAN.csv and ministers_U87.csv quite a bit; made events for government changes
(+) Added a good deal of content for Ghana (GLD) from NWO2 and original creations
(+) Added AI files for Albania (ALB), Bhutan (BHU), Cambodia (CMB), Egypt (EGY), Ethiopia (ETH), Paraguay (PAR),
(+) Streamlined decolonization/federation processes for the British and French colonial empires
(+) The Hashemite Emirate turned out to be an actual place in the interwar period. Oops.
    (+) Completed minister rosters for Austria-Hungary (U09), Dutch Socialist Union (U10), P.D.R. Austria (U16), Belgian Socialist Union (U17), Danubian Union (U18), P.R. Denmark (U22), S.F.R. Yugoslavia (U27), S.P.R. Albania (U28), Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (U31) and S.R. Turkey (U34)
(+) Finished CHI and CHC; swapped out main leader for Xu Chongzhi and Zhang Wentian respectively
(+) Began depreciation of the (Name_Surname).bmp for minister pics in favor of MXXXX TAG1 or UXX-1
(+) Swapped around some U00 military chiefs in preparation for the American Liberation Army event chain
(+) Added personal minister traits from Peace without Victory, Kaiserreich and The Bonaparte Legacy
(+) Started integrating WIFII/EOD events (Reviewer needed)
(+) Finished transferring NWO2's CHC events to U11; still undecided on what to do with CHC
(+) Finished transferring and appropriately altering capitulation events from NWO2; freed up a ton of event numbers for Russia
(+) Added event chains for Operations Felix (war with SPR) and Alaric (war with Allied leaning ITA)
