After multiple headaches from the severe lack of realism in the Central Committee, and a refusal to even consider a unified reorganization of Italy and instead pursue a dictatorship with sham elections to justify their ideas. After the realization that none of the members of the Central Committee (save the General Secretary himself) seem interested in creating a concrete plan that will have a lasting effect and then transition into democracy with free election instead of hopelessly holding onto power. After the realization that the Central Committee is full of people very much like those who ran POI in 1886 (which turned out awfully one might say). Mind you I was one of the minds behind the 1884 Revolution, one of the ones working with the likes of reasonable people such as Muti and Cordero. Mind you that I had power taken away from me in 1886, taken away by socialists, none of which actually worked with Muti or Cordero in the 1884 Revolution but instead hijacked the revolution by trying to propose their own constitution. The man who specifically comes to mind is Nathaniel Fabron, a man who proposed his own constitution despite the fact he had been twiddling his thumbs in France while Muti and Cordero and I were sticking our heads out for freedom. Fabron snatched power away from us in 1886 and increased corporate taxes by 20%, 20! This was so unbearable that another hijacker of the Revolution, di Antico, nationalized all the factories while lacking the force necessary to prevent the lockout that followed. And so we plunged into anarchy, all because several idealists decided to hijack the Revolution. And now Muti and Cordero's names are stained as the ones who set the stage for anarchy. Muti was killed by the regime created as a result of the hijacker's actions. Mind you Signore Mopurgo was the only one who was on the frontlines and in the socialist government, I have much respect for the Mopurgo family, and tried to get him to make the government's actions reasonable but it was too late. All because several people decided to reap the fruits of revolution without planting the seed of dissent.
And now, we are in a very similar situation. I risked my life starting a march onto Rome out in the open. I risked my life infiltrating the regimes of Balbo and Alliata so that Italians may enjoy prosperity. Signore Pedrotti risked his life and he was shot for it. But now these "revolutionaries", unknowns who have spent the last twenty years working tirelessly for a return to prosperity and democracy. They did not even participate fully in the revolution, I never heard their names. Only Pietro and Mopurgo have been on the frontlines but they only reach back to 1900. I have fighting for twenty years. I organized an underground resistance that overthrew Alliata from within, and we hoped Balbo would follow through after we gave him our support but instead he betrayed us and shot Pedrotti. So I gave up infiltration and started the march. The march soon spread and grew into a revolution.
How was I rewarded for my bravery? With one of the most insulting positions in the Central Committee- People's Commissar for Education, Information, and Ideology. Don't patronize me, this is not what you give to the man who planted the seeds of dissent. The man who began the revolution while the other Central Committee members were still learning to tie their shoes. While the other members were shitting their own pants. It is an insult in the highest degree! Who do you think you are? I am one of the greatest revolutionaries in Italian history. I have fought in all three major Revolutions: 1864, 1884, and now 1906. Even more insulting is that none of the Central Committee will even look at my proposal, which has received praise from all corners of the political spectrum, instead wanting to "have fun while we can."
If I have learned one thing in my life it is this- Never trust anyone with power. They always abuse. Everyone is just out for themselves and are prepared to hijack your work, your blood, your sweat, your toil, your tears. Frankly, I do not want the Central Committee to enjoy this. Therefore I am resigning from the Central Committee, effective immediately. I will leave Italy and reside in England for the time being, until sanity can be restored.
