Alejandro arrived in Napoli just in time to join the meeting of the Emperor, the Empress Dowager, and the Crown Prince. His daughter was there too. Alejandro was glad to see that his family was doing fine, but he knew that things weren't over yet.
The others told him of Montsegur's plan to install a constitutional monarchy, under which he would hold most power. He had taken to calling his followers the "Phoenix Movement," with some loyalists dubbing him the "Phoenix King." He agreed that he had to be stopped first before they could worry about Pausanias. The Empress Dowager suggested that he head over to Castile and rally the troops and Trastamaras there to his cause. He resolved to retreat to his temporary quarters first (he had bought a villa in his ancestor's estates in Syracuse and planned to move his base of operations there until Leon was secured) and contemplate the suggestion.

Castile was a no man's land in Hispania. It was easy to enter it, but since it was right in between Leon and Phoenix-occupied territory it wouldn't be hard communicating with Napoli, let alone getting out. However, he was an experienced soldier and had one advantage over Montsegur--the Reconquista. His operatives had remained loyal to him and had built up a substantial spy network in the region around Leon. If he could just get to Leon, perhaps he could enter Castile by crossing the border.
Once he was in there the objective was to reach Madrid and rally the Exercit Madrid and the Trastamaras there to his side. That should be easy, he thought, since he was the Marshal now, like his ancestors before him. But getting the nobles and himself out would be much harder. Montsegur would likely expect him to show up in the region and send troops to kill him and take control over that region, using it to attack Leon. But if Castile declared for the imperial cause, they could possibly take the fight to Montsegur's core territories and force him to fight on several fronts, including outside Aragon itself. He had to go. He left his son in temporary charge of family affairs, put on his armor, and returned to court. The Reconquista would actually be fighting to take back their country now.
((Public))
Alejandro de Leon agreed to the mission, provided that he get substantial government funding for the Reconquista in the form of equipment, funds, and intelligence (at least in Leon). He also asked to take a small battalion of his most experienced veteran soldiers with him.
After making this request, he gave an inspiring speech to the people outside. Reconquista agents distributed copies of his speech throughout loyalist and Phoenix-held territories, hoping to increase loyalist unity and get some defections from Montsegur.
((Imperials sounds like a good name. Makes us sound like the villains though.
Maybe Loyalist could work too?))
