A Tale From Khorasan
Chapter 1: Lagacy of the Khans
The Story of Khorasan doesn't begin in 1453, but in 1200 A.D. when the great Genghis Khan began to conquer his way to create the greatest empire the world has ever seen. This empire spanned for the pacific coast of Asia all the way to the lands of the Ukraine. The Mongols conquered Persia, China and much of India. Their expansionist run came to a halt in the Levant as the Mamluks gave a decisive blow to the invaders. The Mongols were never able to recover as they soon fell into a succession crisis and eventually, the empire was split into a handful of successor states. One of these was eventually led by the great conqueror, Khan Timur the Lame. He soon built an empire roughly spanning the current modern states of Iran, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. However in the year 1405 of the Christian calender, Timur passed away and the vultures were already out for the title as the next Khan. Although the successors of Timur managed to keep the empire from falling apart, however, in 50 years time the collapse of the once mighty empire built by Timur would be cut into 3 nations.
Timur the Lame, Khan of the Timurid Empire (1336-1405)
May 29, 1453
After establishing himself comfortably as Sultan of Khorasan for 5 years after the Great Division of the Timurids, Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur looked at the other two nations of the split: Qara Koyunlu to the west ( who were actually Azerbaijanis who swept through Persia), and the Uzbeks and Turkmens Nomadic Tribes to the north who still claimed to be the rightful successors to the Timurid Dynasty. Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur chuckled at these claims as he knew that he was the great-grandson of Timur the Lame and thus, the title of Khan ought to be his.
But during these 5 crucial years of since the establishment of the Sultanate of Khorasan, Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur led his nation through a rapid movement of modernization influenced by the great Muslim nations of the time such as the Ottomans, Morocco and the Mamluks. The country soon became a technological leader in the world and Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur so set out to drastically reform his government.
"To Succeed", Proclaimed the Sultan. " We must be seen as a leader of the world, not just savage hordes. From this day forth, I will no longer be Khan Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur, but instead I shall be Sultan Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur Timurid of Khorasan.
The news soon reached Qara Koyunlu and the so-called Timurids of the radical changes the their mutual neighbor and they plotted together a partition of the upstarts in Khorasan. In Samarkand, the long time capital of the once great Timurid Empire, Khan Jahan Shah of Qara Koyunly and Khan 'Abd Allah Mirzi of the Timurids finalized their deal on the obliteration of Khorasan.
"Alright, so let's read this over again, I'll lead by horsemen along the south by the coast and you, 'Abd Allah Mirzi, will strike directly south and occupy the northern half of Khorasan. Understood?", queried Johan Shah.
The Timurid leader quickly replied, " It is perfectly understood! ON TO CRUSHING VICTORY!!! HAHAHA!!"
Many elephant rides away in Khorasan, Bakur Ibn-Baysunkur was informed by one of his most skilled and reliable spies, Ahmad Rahimi, of the impending invasion by his vengeful neighbors. "Let them come if they dare... for there will be no dawn for the hordes..."
As he finished his sentence, Ahmad Rahimi burst into the palace and startles the Sultan and some of the court.
"They're Here"
