December 1863: War with Japan and the United States
The US is the first real country I fought since China. They had Japan in their SOI and I was hoping they'd dishonor protecting Japan as I'd rather not be fighting on two fronts, however, I had to Vive La France!!! Japan before they got civilized and made the process annoying. The US did not dishonor so...
Invasion USA baby! And Chuck Norris won't be stopping us this time (Old School movie reference for you kiddies).
Meanwhile in Japan:
We lost a commander...they lost an army Hokey religions and ancient Samurai swords are no match for a good rifle at your side!

Whether it is because of their over-reliance on infantry, me having more army tech, or me having experience troops (my Chinese vets have 4 stars), the result is ineluctable:
With the US main defenders routed, that means Dixie is overrun by the French:
Two of my armies were made useless by the victorious St. Augustine Battle and are recovering, but with a boatload of Chinese manpower, megalomania is not quite the vice is has been historically
The alternative "all poor strata gain 1 militancy" is even worse...
The US drags the Central United States to join the party and create a third front. We wouldn't think of decline such an invitation
I've also created a Pacific front by attacking Oregon. Next time those dastardly Limeys attack me, they'll be in for a North American surprise.
I haven't quite got the hang of the game's finances yet. All I've noticed is that when you're at war, you lose a lot of money Which is rather unfortunate considering my goal here...

dralasite: I think you've got to occupy 2 different regions for the name shift. It wasn't until I conquered Korea that it became "French Asia". I suspect when I get part of Mexico or Canada it will then become "French North America" But, as I said, it's all just preliminaries until "French Earth"

I swear you can't leave these other countries alone for 5 minutes before they go messing up your grand schemes... The Russians have also got their grubby hands into the Ottomans so I've got to take them out pronto before those other countries get too big to annex.
Our glorious campaign is underway! Notice the Russians have cut Asia Minor in two; we make ambitions landings in the Balkans and Eastern part of Asia Minor to compensate.
And after the peace. Sometimes the Paradox AI just makes you laugh. The all-mighty Greeks and their whole two provinces, voluntarily joined the war on the Ottomans side. There had to be some serious miscalculation in Athens how the war was going to turn out
Greek Defense Minister (Alcibiades): I think we should intervene in the French - Ottoman war.
Greek Prime Minister (Pericles): I see; we'll join on the side of the French, right?
Alcibiades: No, the Ottomans.
Pericles: But don't the French have like a gazillion armies?
Alcibiades: Yeah, that's just it; they have too many troops. They couldn't possibly equip, train, and indoctrinate them all effectively. It's just a rabble mob and probably waiting for the first moment to desert and join the Revolution.

Egypt is big! But in six months we've taken out almost all their Asian provinces and are well down (or actually it's technically "up") the Nile. And I see socialists have graced me with their first appearance in my parliament. Great, more revolutionary idiots as if the Jacobins and Reactionaries haven't already almost ruined my game in the 1840s

I actually think machine guns is an overrated tech. In all games such as this, Civilization, etc., I am most assuredly attacking and get waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more mileage out of techs and units that attack.
I've kept up on my naval technology because when I tried to do a WC with Vikky 1, the Royal Navy pwned my ass for 40 years or so which made fighting the Brits unpleasant.
The commerce line of techs is most definitely not created equal. The line on the extreme left (Financial Institutions) = ££££££££££££££ The line in the very middle, (economic thought & critique) = blah.
LOL at this branch. Political Thought is good for focus points. If Freud were French, he would've thought women envied men because they were in the army and fired guns
Another money making line of research. This whole tree will get researched in time.
I have no idea why you could only wage one war in Vikki 1 but I'm glad Paradox removed that ignorant "feature" and allow for multiple wars in Vikky 2. We take advantage and DOW Spain for no other reason than they are my neighbor. Plus their national sports teams are way too good and have overshadowed Les Bleuso Sacrebleu!
Commerce raiders are good! And it is very nice to be on the right end of the naval tech race!
Fighting in the Philippines.
Overwhelming Spanish defenders and mobilized reserves before they can get their ORG up. I'm not sure I'm a fan of ORG going to crap when spending is cut in peacetime. The AI can't defend its borders effectively when it is on the receiving end of a DOW. But I'm not going to wait months after a DOW to assuage my pangs of guilt.
Not a good day for the Spanish Navy :rofl:

You've got something like 2.2Million £ in the bank, given your constant state of warfare why not keep the military spending where it is, or even increase it? I don't see the economic crisis...
Oh, and in the last picture, I see two flags in your at-war section. The one looks like kinda like Ethiopia. The other one looks like the Palestinian flag, but unless you're playing a very peculiar Vicky2 mod I rather doubt that I'm right
