Complaining about divisions names.......and attack FT who does this all for free, but doesn't know much about history.

Sorry boy, but I probably know much more about history than you do. Like most everyone else, I occupy the Rhineland as Germany in January 1936 unless specifically warned not to. There is nothing in the documentation provided that says that the event will not fire until March no matter what. And the unitnames problem is something that should have been worked on. Fernando is now working on it with the file I uploaded a few posts back.

Removed the SS Divisions (some of them) from the unitnames files, as they are duplicated by the special divisions.

Check the event date in the Re-occupation of the Rhineland event (event id = 2000 in the WIF German event file) rw. The date listed there controls when the event will fire unless there's an interlinked event that is triggered by the movement of a German unit into a Rhineland province. I don't think there is such an interlinked event in WIF.

I guess it boils down to what you mean by documentation.

Im playing as US with furious japan AI on.

I've noticed that in naval battles, about half of the japanese escorts are dido class and atlantis class CL. These ships have allied markings and are historically US/UK vessles, does the japanes AI have access to these by event? and is this intentional?

There are no classes for the naval models, the units you saw are special units, given to the Japanese AI by the event that fires when you select "the Furious Japanese AI option". As it is a "fantasy" option, meant to spice the Pacific War a bit, I won't bother about historical correctness.

For the units_name problems, everybody can modify those names in game so...

Downloading the mod now...thanks a lot :)

I played World in Flames as the Soviet Union and the USA, I will launch a German game this time.

I would like to ask: Is it recommended to wait for historical DoWs and events such as invasion to Netherlands and Belgium, Denmark and Norway, Fall Marita, Plan Barbarossa etc.

In other words, is any manual DoW needed as Germany?

I have run across the exact problems people are experiencing with the Unitnames file myself, whilst modding my own, vanilla ARM game. I think that you are experiencing two separate problems:

The problem with the ENG divisions (ie: divisions being called things like 'interceptor', etc), has to do with formatting. Somewhere, presumably in the ENG section of the unitnames file, an entry is incorrectly formatted (ie: it has a semi-colon instead of a colon, it has too many colons, or there is an incorrect country/unit ID in the entry).

The problem with the GER divisions has to do with the length of one of their division names: apparantly, if say, an German infantry division name in Unitnames.csv has too many characters( I am afraid I cannot recall the exact limit), the game starts using that name every Infantry division built.

If someone could upload the unitnames file, I would be happy to take a quick look.

thank you very much :)

Hi,

I added the latest unitnames file that you uploaded to my game. I couldn't reproduce the problem with the ENG divisions, either by loading up and lining up and building the full range of ENG land, air and sea units, or loading up as another country and keeping a close eye of the ENG AI. I also scanned briefly over the whole unitnames file (only briefly though;)), and could not spot any of the usual formatting errors that I have found cause this problem. I can only assume it has since been fixed, or those players experiencing it were using a modified unitnames file.

With respect to the problem of several German unitnames repeating: this was, as I suspected, due to about 8 entries having too many characters. The character limit in the unitnames file is 39 (not counting the 8 characters used at the start, ie: 'GER;Inf;'). I have editted the offending entries in the GER section: in each case I did not touch the honorific, I merely abbreviated the 'Infanterie' or 'Division' or 'Freiwilligen'. I think the only entries I editted were:

GER;Inf;34. SS-F.Gr.-Div. 'Landstorm Nederland'
GER;Inf;544. Volksgren.-Division 'Grafenwöhr'
GER;Inf;RAD-Infanterie-Div. 'Friedr.Ludw.Jahn'
GER;Inf;RAD-Infanterie-Division 'Theodor Körner'
GER;Mot;9. SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Division 30 Januar
GER;Mot;10. Infanterie-Division
GER;Mot;11. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS Charlemagne
GER;Mec;1. SS-PzGrDiv. 'Leibst.SS Adolf Hitler'

Well, from 1934 to 1941 Sinkiang was under control of the chinese warlord Sheng Shicai whose regime was heavily reliant on the Soviet Union, similarly to Outer Mongolia. Then from 1941 to 1944 he turned to the GMD for support before being forced out of power by the GMD in 1944. So for this time space it would be perhaps more historical if Sinkiang stayed neutral as a puppet of the Soviet Union until 41 and then as a puppet of China until 44. Furthermore it is a little irritating if Sinkiang is not core of China but Tibet is. Either both of them or neither. But it is certainly no big problem and as it is the final version I don't think changes are needed. :)
