Amazing update as per usual. Too bad though, I was really hoping for a better defended British Isles. This operation *should* be a walk over.

Anyway, voted for you in the ACA. Hope everyone else does too, Vote Here!

Enjoying your AAR (oddly, from the back moving toward the beginning)! I really enjoyed this image... Did you make it yourself? I expect it's not historical, but perhaps some pre-war excursion.

Thanks!

I think these cliffs are in northern France, Bretagne or Normandy or whatever. They look similar to the cliffs of Dover. That's the answer to your question I think but I was surprised how fitting this image was...
Good job MM. As always.

sweet beach head! hope you can capture Churchill and maybe Hess.
Hess never flew to Britain, he's still the deputy Führer in my game. I think that event was only included in HoI2.

Yes I think so as well. But it is an usual problem that Britain is not that well defended. The United States should be a different story though...
And thank you very much for voting.

And the US loses its portal to Europe.
They still have bases in Iceland and Greenland, so I'm not out of the woods yet.

Stolloror is correct. This is an original image of General Adolf Kuntzen in Étretat, northern France, on a visit to the channel coast in May 1944. A modern, aerial shot of the same cliff can be found here, they are standing on the headland on the bottom of the picture. And the original image with markings from the German Archives can be found here.

Thank you everyone for reading and don't forget to vote for your favorite AARs of Q4 2012 here.

After securing our beachhead and landing enough troops for the continuation of the offensive, our first targets was London. Yesterday we managed to sneak two tank divisions over the Thames and today the attack on the city started from multiple directions. But after some initial resistance in the outskirts, we soon found out that the city had been deserted by the British Home Guard. Only a few hours after the start of the attack our troops reached the city center and entered the empty offices of 10 Downing Street and the Buckingham Palace. The Parliament, the High Command and the Royal Family had been hastily evacuated to Scotland last night.

Today our troops reached the small British town of Bletchley near Oxford where they discovered a secret British code breaking facility. According to our specialists the British scientists were on the verge of breaking our Enigma-Encryption, which we are using for all classified wireless communication in the field. We might just have dodged a bullet here, but regardless I've given the order to change all code books and start the development of an improved Enigma machine, just in case they have been sharing their work with their allies.

I had a meeting with our leading nuclear physicist Werner Heisenberg today to discuss the progress of the "Uranprojekt" he and his colleagues have been working on for some time now. He told me that withing three years they would be able to produce an "uranium bomb" that would be more powerful than all of our current weapons combined. A truly intriguing idea, but he also told me that he would require a significant bump in his funding for the construction of a large scale research facility, comparable in its size with our rocket test site in Peenemünde. Our resources are needed elsewhere at the moment, but I agreed that we would start the construction of the facility as soon as we can spare enough industrial capacities.

Deep inside the Reich and out of the reach of our enemies, the Uranprojekt has found its new home in Breslau.

With all of Southern Britain now under our control, our strategic rocket bombing campaign has come to an end. The first reports that were compiled with information on the receiving end of our bombardment were quite sobering. Apparently the cost of the campaign was higher than the damage that was caused and had no real impact on the course of the war, which is why it has to be regard as a failure. To discuss these problems I had a meeting with the head of our rocket program, Wernher von Braun today. Until now he had been working on improved versions with longer range of his A4 rocket, but at the end of the meeting we agreed that he and his team would concentrate on more practical applications of his rockets, like surface to air missiles or smaller, guided air to air projectiles.

Our invasion of Britain has caused a great stir in the international community. Over these past few days the previously neutral nations of Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, New Zealand and Mexico all have joined the allies. This leaves only very few countries in South American that are not at war with the Greater German Empire.
In other, more pleasant news: The weapons manufacturer C. G. Haenel presented a new non-shining headlamp today, the Zielgerät 1229 "Vampir". The device is using invisible infrared light, that can only be seen by the operator, to illuminate the target. Mounted on tanks or even small arms, this will give our troops a significant advantage over the enemy when fighting at night. All of our previous tactics involved some kind of battlefield illumination, which granted the same advantages of increased sight to the enemy as well.

A little bit cumbersome, but invaluable at night.

Almost a month after the start of the operation, our troops reached the ancient roman border that was created by Emperor Hadrian two thousand years ago to separate England from Scotland. With this important goal reached, operation sea lion has been successfully completed within its timetable and we can now continue with the conquest of the mountainous North and Ireland. Our losses have been low, compared to those suffered in our previous operations in the east, and the only real delays during our advance had been due to the confusion caused from missing road and town signs, which had been removed by the Home Guard in anticipation of our invasion.

Wansford, Stibbington or Nassington? Maybe they should try to ask the locals for directions...

And then the invasion of the US mainland! Or.... maybe we will see a half-successful Valkyrie? With [MM]s modding skills, a German civil war would make for a very interesting story.

There is not much reason for any large opposition to der Führer's rule in this time line though. All he does makes gold.

A grey South America would be very easy on the eyes :p

Maybe the American Bund Party is strong enough to cause a coup in the USA? Might be worth a try......nice conquest of England proper. Scotland should be a cake walk as well.

Our offensive in Britain is continuing and we are now advancing into Scotland where the British Army has decided to make their last stand in Newcastle, the seat of their evacuated government. There are rumors in circulation that the king has already left the country, but Churchill has been seen recently on the front line, trying to boost the moral of his soldiers.

Newcastle has fallen and the majority of the British Home Guard either surrendered or perished in the battle. Winston Churchill on the other hand chose to board one of the last ships that left the harbor and fled to Canada. The events of these past days will surely send shock-waves though the British Empire. With a little bit of luck it might even collapse after loosing its home island.

With the fall of their home island quickly approaching, the British Parliament in exile announced today that they would retreat from their colonies in the far east to concentrate their efforts on the continuation of the resistance in Africa and America. As a first step they've announced their plan to transfer control of India and their possessions in South East Asia to elected local (and loyal) governments. I knew that it would be only a matter of time until the British Empire would break under the pressure of this war, but I am surprised by the speed with which their downfall is taking place.

India and Pakistan are the first former colonies to gain their independence in the wake of the Fall of Britain.

At the same time as the British are receding from their former colonies, we are proceeding with implementing our new order by establishing our own civil administration in Britain. Just as in all the other nations before, our approach of implementing a lenient occupation policy, based on collaboration and lawfulness, is gaining traction with the British population. To maintain order, the local police is allowed to continue with their work unhindered and the field offices of the Wehrmacht have begun accepting volunteers, who are willing to fight for our cause.

Over these past few days the Seekriegsleitung (Maritime Warfare Command) has reported an increasing number of submarine attacks on our convoy routes to Britain and Ireland. Today we managed to intercept a pack of US subs before they could strike at one of our major convoys north of Brest en route to the recently captured Irish city of Dublin. Despite this success, our losses of convoy ships are mounting and we will have to do something about this sooner rather than later. Increasing our patrols in the North Sea and on the coastlines of Atlantic can only be the first step. Our next move should be to destroy or capture their naval bases in Iceland and Greenland, from which they are launching their attacks this close to our homeland. An elimination of those bases should also decrease the likelihood of an US invasion on the shores of the Fatherland and if we manage to take them over, they could server us as stepping stones for our own operations against the US and Canada.

After the devastating defeat at Newcastle, the resistance from the British Home Guard has been almost nonexistent. We are expecting to be in control of the entire country by the end of the month.

Today one of our radar stations on the French Atlantic Coast reported the sighting of an enemy surface fleet en route to Southern Britain. The naval high command immediately send our main battle fleet, that has been stationed in the Channel to protect our troop movements, to intercept the incoming ships. In the ensuing battle with the US carrier task force we managed to sink almost all of their ships, only their carrier, the USS Saratoga, was able to slip away into the Atlantic under the cover of the nightfall. This, and recent successes against the Royal Navy on the outset of Operation Sea Lion, has lead our Admirals to the conclusion that we should abandon our currently preferred fleet composition, which is centered on small task forces of one carrier and one battleship, in favor of big battle fleets, centered around three carriers and a good mix of heavy and escort ships. If we can duplicate our successes we had with this type of composition, we should be able to push back the US Navy and maybe even achieve naval supremacy in the Atlantic.

fleetl.jpg

Our first major naval battle with the US Navy ended with a victory for us, thanks to our new big-carrier-fleet strategy.

At the moment we have six carriers and battleships, allowing us to create two fleets of the following composition, each with 30 ships:

  • 3 Carriers
  • 3 Battleships
  • 3 Battlecruiser
  • 6 Heavy Cruisers
  • 6 Light Cruisers
  • 9 Destroyers

We have another carrier, the "KMS Amerika", under construction, increasing our carrier-fleet to a total of 7, allowing us to maintain our two fleets while having one carrier in the dock for repairs. As soon as we have enough free capacities we should begin the construction of another three carriers and the necessary escort ships to create three complete fleets. This, in combination with the continued progress we are making with airborne anti-ship weapons like the new "Fritz X" Seezielflugkörper (anti-ship missile), should ensure our dominance over the seas.

The last secluded village in northern Scotland was successfully occupied today. We are now in full control of Europe: From the Nordkapp to the Sahara and from the Atlantic to the Urals.

In anticipation of this victory, I signed an order last week to fly distinguished members of all units that participated in the Operation to Berlin, to take part in a big victory parade. After the festivities I've scheduled a meeting with the General Staff to discuss our next steps. The destruction of the US Naval Bases closest to our territory will take precedence, but our next steps must be considered carefully. Where should we attack next? Africa, India or maybe even America?

That map looks amazing. I personally hope for India then to Japan and Soviet far east next.

This way America can get more powerful, because America falls, the rest of the game is a walkover.

Are India and Pakistan allied to GB, or totally independent?
