Nice pic bro. Do you think it would be worth to include Motor Torpedo Boats/PT boats?
I think that, if they are included, only with that strong condition, they should be counted into flotillas, and 20 MTBs would make 1 flotilla, while now 10DDs and 10ss make one flotilla.

Either MT/PT boats can be techs giving bonuses to the light ships classes (like in IC/mod34) or they be made into their own units.
Could be nice to make them units.

Indeed, they can be another upgradeable type of destroyer, but, as i said they should be counted in flotillas in a bigger ration than DDs.

I guess they would have very low range (coastal only) but medium to high speeds, low seattack but high seadefence (they are smaller and harder to hit)

Thank.

I've found info about "train monitors", the armored train of the late 19th century. Another old tech to add maybe.
Also I have found stuff about pre radar, air detection systems: http://blog.cwam.org/2011/03/before-radar.html Those things rose up and died quickly from ww1 to the interbellum and arent super useful, but it could be interesting to add these for realism sake at least. They'd give bonuses to static and anti air brigades.

EDIT: btw not sure if it has any incidents but the modern airborne tank (sheridan) is labeled as improved like the previous model.

EDIT2: And I think there should be a 1943 or 44 armored train tech. From photos I can clearly see german war trains getting much more armored and armed.

EDIT3: Again, while looking for ww1 anti air weapons I found a picture of German artillery guns fixed on top of trucks. That smells like an earlier SPAA brigade/tech to add.

the PT boats shoould probably be naval brigades that can only be added to frigates, they should takeaway from range alot but add convoy attack, a small Aa bonus and some anti sub and anti surface attack, if they have short range then add them frigates then it would encourage them to be used more as a port defense then as an attacking force which was their main use in ww2 as far as i know (would it be possible for PT boats to shorten DD/CL build times if they're added on as waiting a year for a DD with PT brigade would be stupid)

If they stay as seperate naval units make them super cheap and quick to make. They should be really easy to sink and quite weak but really fast to make up for their lack of firing range, the last thing we want is a player (aI or not) to build a fleet of 30 PT boats then suicide them into a carrier fleet and sinking 3/4 years of work in two seconds. (i used this tactic with destroyers in HoI2 DD with Japan and Italy as an effective way to ruin the allied carrier advantage)

I would love this, as for flavor i prefer SPAA on HQ units, especially as Germany, but I generally forget to add them in when they finally get unlocked.

Wow! you're very fertile on ideas! I'll probably make all those changes suggested but have in mind that right now i'm working on the naval tech tree and it consumes a lot of time...

Could i ask you for a little favour please? Could you gather all your ideas and write in short changelog style sentences please? It's for not forget them and put them in the first post as a checklist.

BTW, about Sheridan... it's not an error, it's intentionally like that. From 50s onwards you don't research just airborne tanks but a complete airborne support units.

You're right, but there are various problems, first is that in order to include PT boats as frigates you have to discard another naval brigade, considering that we have already replaced two of them (improved hulls both for capital and small ships), unless you suggest another (rather replaceable) naval brigade, it's a bit hard to have them as brigades.
Second problem is that if they are attacheable only for frigates, then, they are going to be attached also in light cruisers because frigates are just another model of light cruisers.

torpedoes? i only put them on to boost naval attack but you could replace them and just make DDs and CLs have better naval and convoy attack the higher level they are(representing better torpedoes and launcher technology). PT boats were small groups usually accompanied by larger ships as a port defence. Its your mod so do what you think would be best i'm just suggesting the idea :D

Wait, Razor you bring a point. PT boats was largely used as port defences, but I remember that some were also taken into fleets and used in open sea combats. The PT boasts were attached to large ships and operated from them, but obviously this can't be very well simulated in HoI, so PT boats might just work better as a brigade (or jut bonus in the techs), like the escort ship thing that was talked about a few pages back.

Destroyer escort brigade will only be available for transports, and PT boats available only for... i don't know, destroyers perhaps? (i remind you that there are going to be corvettes in the game, so i think that they can be attached to corvs...)

^^ Very clever for you.

This is not a progress report post:

DDGs are another model of light cruisers just to allow them to be taken individually.

did you remove CVLs?
How will Tenders be used(attachments)?
I think that renaming them from PT boats to Fast Attack Craft would sound better. I spoke in detail to my dad who was in the royal navy and he suggested that they be similar to submarines (not screens but not attachments) with the torpedoes and ASW available to put on as extras. They should have high convoy attack, low (but not 0) sea attack, low air defence, some air attack, low attack range and similar movement range to Intercepter fighters. To counter the negatives they should be cheap to build (0.3-0.5?) and be quick to build (60-120days?). As default they shouldn't have any anti sub attack without ASW on.

I didn't remove CVLs they simply aren't done yet.
Nope, seaplane tenders work as every other ship.

So... are you saying that PT boats/MTB/E Boats/Fast attack craft (which is the most generic term and therefore the most accurate one IMO) should be taken as another kind of submarine unit in order for they to not be counted as screens? Nice idea! really really nice! However due to the enormous numbers of these crafts, i think that they should be counted into flotillas in a ratio of 20 to one (20 MTBs make one flotilla) as i said various time before.
